It nice for a RUclipsr to tell it like it is! The cost of living is so high now and it makes sense to eat home. We are all on a budget regardless of income. Thank you for being real!❤
Hi Gerry and Susan Thank you ♥️ for sharing this 5 inspired meal volg. I agree grocery prices are so high relying on what we have at home makes sense. ❤
Hi Papa and Nana love you all, so special ❤ we are 2 also we eat Cod every Friday with sautéed zucchini and carrots and steamed broccoli. Saturday and Sunday we eat Fried potatoes 🥔 baked ham and fresh fruit cups Monday thru Wednesday we eat a spaghetti casserole, 🥑 avocado salad with a bed of lettuce and fresh zucchini and a handful of cashews. Thursday is leftover day. Sometimes we eat breakfast for supper. ❤
I do try and meal prep on Sundays for the week even if it’s prepping ingredients for salads. I am into that cheeseburger salad this week. I’m also taking a 2nd look at whatever I have in the fridge too.
Sloppy joes, Hungarian mushroom soup, chicken and dumplings, spaghetti with sausage sauce, chef salad . If anyone gives a fig.. enjoy your cooking and will try your split pea soup
Honestly my best meals are when I use left overs and add to them. Scrambled eggs with spinach and cheese or with bulk sausage and cheese. Delicious. I brown up like half the 1lb roll. Put it in a freezer bag and just spoon out what I need to make our omelettes. So easy...
There is just me and my husband. I’ll make a big batch of meatballs and use it with red sauce one night with pasta, one night as meatball subs and then use them with brown sauce/gravy over potatoes or rice and if there’s enough I’ll do a quick stroganoff with the rest adding peas/noodles in a mushroom sauce.
Sometimes I Just do not be in the Mood to Cook, and leftovers are not my thing but I am getting used to eat, thanks for sharing 10-25-2023❤., I love Split Pea Soup myself it’s only me 1
Love you guys. Your meals look delicious! We have for sure been trying to save on groceries...use up what we have, buy whats on sale, make 2 meals from one. Etc. Great content. Thanks!
Papa, those peppers look delish!. A little hot sauce would go perfect on them. You're right about getting kind of bored about the same old dinner. I successfully started my own sourdough and also kefir. I am also using my own veggies and herbs to try new recipes. And hey we're in FL so we always show some leg so don't worry about us seeing yours. 😉
Thank you, I’ve gotten a lot of great ideas for meals. I’m new to cooking for just myself since my husband passed in September. Some of the foods I’ve been cooking to eat trying to avoid some of the high cost of everything is I’ll make spaghetti sauce freeze half and make chili out the other half just adding beans chili powder and other seasoning. Meals: 1) spaghetti with fresh salad 2) chili with cheese & sour cream and garlic bread 3) chili dogs with chips. There’s still some spaghetti sauce in freezer for the next time I want it. Really appreciate all the ideas, some times we all get in a rut of what to eat/cook. ❤
I'm not throwing much away. I'm not eating out very often and I am buying tastier ingredients for home - and putting more thought into it. We have saved hundreds by doing this. 35:41
Do you have a Kroger owned store near you anywhere? They have great discounted items all the time on produce, meats and breads, as well as good sales on ground beef, the 3lb tubes. You can plan your meals around the sales items. When you avoid processed foods as you seem to do, you can get a lot of good items for a good price at Kroger stores. I know in others states they are often called Smith's or other names.
I would sure love to see some more videos like this one with different easy recipes that go fast that looks so good for dinner. I’m really impressed with your skills and you make it so easy for all of us to copy you.
You're absolutely right, Papa Nana. Things are so expensif food wise. It's just me and my husband I make A pot of beans, we have it with Rice The next day. I'll make a pot of spaghetti sauce with Italian sausage and meatballs. Will have that With spaghetti and the next day we'll make sub sandwiches with provolone cheese What eat out? But it's been once or twice a month. It's just too expensive and I prefer eating at home. And I do the same as well. Look in my fridge and find what I have. Loved this video. As always Love you guys God bless.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ And thank you for always sharing.❤
Hi Papa and Nana, loved your five meal ideas! Always need new inspiration. We strive to use all of our food. The CSA gives us different vegetables that we need to meal plan around them! Can be a challenge!
Great video! These recipes look so good! I appreciate that the recipes are things I haven't seen before, and the methods you demonstrate and the tips you give along the way are very helpful too. Great camera work, Nana...but I wish you were on the other side of the lens more often! Papa, I wonder if you and Nana would consider showing a grocery shop/haul? I always get good ideas for ingredients I've never used as well as more economical choices I hadn't previously thought about from those types of videos. But whatever the subject, I always enjoy and learn from your videos.
Oh gee those meals look yummy. I cook for myself so I fix a lot of one pot meals. In walking through the store I come up with ideas. I start out with a veggie and add to it plus I use a lot of spices. Enjoyed and thanks.
Thank you for sharing your meals for two. My husband and I are empty nesters, I plan my groceries on meals for two. We eat lots of fish and pork chops and we use our Traeger or air fryer.
Mama is very blessed to have you pop a cooking for her. I put my stuffed peppers in my pressure cooker. Instant pot thing they turn up. Perfect. You don’t have to worry about pre-cooking or anything. It seems to pressure cook some so good.
We go through our fridge on Wednesday and clear it out for Thursday trash pick up! Sometimes we feed the squirrels because squirrels need love, too!! (and food!)
I am going to pull out the omelette idea for dinner and I love split pea soup. I have everything for both of those meals in the pantry/fridge. I also have ingredients to make cabbage rolls which is pretty similar to the stuffed pepper idea, but more economical considering how expensive peppers are. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Split pea soup is the ultimate comfort food. Along with buckwheat soup, it appeared often at our table growing up and I absolutely love it to this day. I haven’t made it in a while but I can hear a smoked ham hock in the freezer calling my name! These type of videos are some of my favorites as they give me ideas on what to put on my menu. Thank you for sharing yours!
Well those peppers looked great. My son makes carbonara. Since little my kids find recipe by looking in pantry freezer and fridge and cookbooks. They cook with my help . the kids love when I make slow cook beans. We eat beans rice and cornbread for 2 days. Than as my gang says come the good stuff. I mix salsa and seasons and have refried beans. Make tortillas and yummy food. Spaghetti with a little sasague. We on days grandkid here we make a snack trays, with what's in pantry and fridge. We always have rice around so fried rice with what veg and meats. I hate going to stores. We have sandwich day because it's still hot and we go down to beach. My part of Texas is only had a couple days that might be fall. Great video. Like seeing how other people are making it now that things are crazy.
Im 1 and i live on boost shakes because my appetite is gone since my heart attack 😮 man prices are awful. Thank you again for another awesome video hope all is well for you and yours
My hubby & I have my elderly dad living with us. The hubs & I used to eat out 3-4 times a month. Last 2 years it is about once every 2 months due to cost. Luckily I am a good cook LOL! Learning to pressure can ( love watching your daughter) I do a lot of big batch cooking now with meats & produce I find on sale & freeze. Our nights out are at our friends homes & we all bring a dish to share that we made . You gave me some new go to and inspiration when I cook . We do breakfast on Sunday supper . We enjoy it way more than when we're rushing off to church on a Sunday morning .
My name says it all, my husband is 50 I'm 52and we have no kids so its Just the 2 of us, lol always have left overs and love it. We eat out once a month when we grocery shop, well grocery pick up, lol. Love the Papa's kitchen!😊
I add pureed beans to ground meat for so many things. I use black beans....pintos..navy and ..white beans . Organic canned from aldi. Great protein and taste great. It's all in fresh herbs and seasoning. Also saute squash carrots WI my onions and garlic for pasta sauce. So many tricks.
They all look delicious. I cook enough for 2 meals for the two of us. We had porkchops and stuffing, shrimp&mushroom Alfredo, and lemon chicken with chicken flavored rice. That's 6 days and then I start again. I'm cleaning out my freezer because everything is so expensive. Time to make batch cooking and soups. Last night was pizza, using up leftover veggies.
My husband & I are empty nesters for the most part we do have 2 granddaughters who come on the weekends, We have taken a page out of your daughter Sarah’s book & starting shopping once a month & meal planning. It has helped so much I have celiac disease & I’m a type 2 diabetic we cook all meals at home.
Good one Papa! We are just two also and I end up spending too much and always seem to have leftovers. We eat leftovers but it's not on the top of our enjoyment list! I have also started ordering my groceries online, just to avoid the trip to the market as well as not being tempted by all the new items and extravagances. It has really helped us moneywise and having excess items that we may use once but not finish. As retired seniors in Florida, who love going out for lunches and such, we are feeling the strain also!
I love to make soups and stews in the crockpot especially on days I have to commute over an hour to work and back. Chicken soup, chili, beef stew, pork carnitas and even beef stroganoff are delicious in a crockpot and sides take only 10 min to make fresh 😊 They are great for two people or for a large family, pretty affordable, delicious and easy to freeze and eat later if you end up with leftovers ❤ Love your channel and Sarah’s channel and I’m also from FL and now living in Nashville, so great to see your life there 🌴💚💛💚 and your fun videos when your grandkids come to visit ❤ I love the family love you show on this channel and also the cooking!! Thank you - The Papa and Nana 😊 Also love your message of trying new things in cooking, I recently tried fermenting vegetables and I’m enjoying it a lot ❤❤
The Papa's kitchen is HOT this week!!! Man ALL those look fantastic and delicious. I will definitely try these. Nana is right after years of cooking the inspiration kind of fades. But, seeing new ideas sparks a fire for trying again. Prices are definitely off the chain. But these kinds of meals can be stretched. Thank you!!!
All the recipes looked good. I enjoy stuffed peppers. We tend to eat chicken thighs at least once a week. Today I made Thai chicken and rice and fresh pickled veggies. I like to make a soup or stew often that we can eat twice. And we like to grill so lately we’ve done sausages and burgers but just about anything tastes good grilled! I love your channel you guys. Take care! ❤
Every recipe looks delicious! I’m curious about the split peas and why you add the remainder of the bag at the end? Thanks! Can’t wait to try these! Love your videos and your sweet conversation during the cooking. You two are so sweet!
Thank you for not cracking the egg on the bowl like lots of people do. I hate finding egg shells in the food I'm eating. Also, I would have loved to see a closeup of the omelet slice you cut out and plated. Keep cooking together. I watch Sarah and Solo with family also.
