Oh god i would love to see that. I just got my 1st LP...a 2017 faded HP...it has the carved heel, titanium zero-fret nut, seymour Duncan like overwound PAF pickups,g-force tuners that really work. It also has this newer finish that makes it feel nice and worn in. The QC is very good. It definitely has a sweetness to it, but i feel it doesn't even come close to the playability of a solar e1.6frlb i got almost at the same time. Lol im selling the LP now. Last October i realized i like 25"/24¾" scale much more than 25½ when i got a hankering for a carvin...lol it instantly ruined my 5 other guitars. I got rid of all accept my ibanez az242f. That things special for sure. It plays like a shorter scale...but i figured since i like the "gibson scale" so i should like a gibson right? I got the LP that best suits my style(modern/shredder asthetics) and im like WTF... i switched from 25½" scale cuz it felt like the strings were fighting against me and the LP pretty much had the same thing going on. It all works out i guess. I have an pretty spec'd out S-style warmoth build coming that i probably shouldn't have. Selling the LP will make me feel much better about it....lol sry im rambling. Im high...

@suspicionofdeceit Not surprised. In my opinion the Japanese companies are the best guitar builders in the world.
Of course, any company can make a great guitar if they want to. It's all about quality control standards and attention to detail. But that's kind of the point. The Japanese companies have such solid consistency with their domestic stuff. The competition for sales there is fierce and the Japanese companies know they have to make their stuff better than US guitars because the perception even in Japan is that owning an American guitar is sort of the "goal". It's why all the best Gibsons are sent to Japan. You won't see a flawed Les Paul in their showrooms.

Made in Japan guitars give you what you'd have to get from a custom builder in the west.

I thought the LTD and ESP made some of the cleanest guitars on the guitar making circuit. I knew of the rainbow look which I liked and still do! But, when they take their Luthier's and say it's time to let your hair down and let them do there thing, man I would have it insured then keep it in a display case in a bank vault or museum and visit it! I would never play it now due to how many known artists lost normal working USA made instruments in the past to present day. Regardless, that was one of your best guitar sharing moment today. I bet a USA Luthier would have a hard time coming up with wood carvings like those done by the Luthier's of LTD and ESP. Side note, I think those 2 companies are one like Fender, Mexico's Fender and Squier or Gibson, and it's concurred companies of Epiphone, Kramer & Charvel. I owned a cherry burst Charvel with 1pickup in 86' and the owner who sold it wanted to buy it back. So I did. It was a nice guitar but I knew I needed more cash for one of many handmade electric guitars. I'm building many this year and finishing close to 10 to possibly more by June or earlier of 2023.

If you haven't checked out the entire ESP Japan site, there's a lot of cool stuff there.
They've been doing some really fun collaborations with video games and anime lately, like the STH-130 Sonic guitar and a couple other Sonic themed guitars. There's one called "BLACK LILY" that's like a SG with P90s and some really cool MOP work on the body.
But where the good stuff is at is their Japanese artists signature models! They go crazy! With their Navigator/Edwards series they can do actual Gibson shaped guitars still, I don't know how that's possible but maybe because they keep it domestic it's cool with Gibson? Check out the "ESP EP Shuhei Igari Signature", I love the Ken Yokoyama signatures "N-LP-’97 HONEY KEN" and "E-MA-’98 ALOHA KEN", a guitarist named Sussy has a bunch of cool Flying V guitars including one called Night Life which has stockings and lingerie on it (WHAT!?)

    • @dreammachine86

Thanks for letting me know about all the crazy stuff on the Japanese site, just had a look. I'd had a brief peek at the Japanese site before, just to read about the further details they had about custom shop orders and the exhibition models, but I never looked through the Japanese artist roster. Didn't realise they had a load of artists that aren't on the global site - and as you say, there are some very far out designs there.
It seems like ESP really likes to take care of the artists in their home country as many of the artist sigs seem to be right at the top in terms of quality, with unique shapes and features you don't tend to see on even the international artist ESP models. But the prices do reflect that - I saw quite a few over $10,000 and I haven't even looked at all of them yet.
Edwards is another interesting one...I was aware they existed but it's crazy to see how many models they have, and that many of the artists with a pricey ESP custom shop model have an Edwards variant too so fans can buy a copy at a more affordable price point. It's a shame the Edwards brand isn't worldwide, as they have a lot of guitars that LTD just don't approach making atm. i.e. all the LTDs with a trem pretty much all have Floyd Roses. If you want a normal non-locking trem it's £5000+ for an Original Series (hence why my most recent guitar purchase was an Ibanez Prestige AZ...I love ESP as a brand and always admired their products but they just didn't have the specs I wanted at an attainable price point, whereas Ibanez had a Japanese built model for a much more reasonable £1400). But if you are in the domestic Japanese market say for a Snapper there are Edwards with the same type of body wood, the same Seymour Duncan pickups and the same ESP-branded trem as the Original Series for less than half the price. Even better value than the E-IIs, the prices of which have been shooting up. So if Edwards was offered worldwide they could easily compete with stuff like the AZ I mentioned, as well as opening up a load of interesting artist designs to people that wouldn't have been able to afford the custom shop builds. Even the artists would benefit as they can make more commission from sale of their sigs.

I like the ESP that has all the flame with the fade paint. Changing from where the neck is and a whole different color near the bridge. The inlays are great including the ones on back. The character on the fret board to me looks like either a gargoyle or some demon warrior.not the one right after but the stained wood looking one I'd like to see as a bass. It's got that stradivarius flavor either way. The blue version is cool but the red one speaks to me in the same way that skull and cross bones guitar does. Can't remember what famous guitarist has one. I'm thinking it's a member of Slayer. I may be wrong. Just think if they offered a version of those three in green or a dark purple. I totally agree on the wolves guitar. And I thought the bavmck was blah. As if they had no clue what to do so they left it alone. Don't know if its Gretsch or what company but there's one company that makes a guitar that has and added arm rest by the elbow . It looks similar to a chin rest of a violin. I know it didn't make the list but it's a cool looking guitar that's hollow or semi hollow. I've got a question or maybe a suggestion if you have the capability since you hired a techie is it possible to link reviews to your guitars your selling? I thought I saw it. Maybe its linked to reverb but I don't see it on your personal guitar sales site.

Narra is a southeast asian tree species. Highly sought after, used for high grade furniture and construction. They're supposed to be really sturdy; I've never seen one here (Philippines) or never recognized one despite it being OUR national tree. It's illegal to cut them without a permit so when you ever see a furniture built with one, it's a heck of an expense. Didn't know they're used for guitars tho, which is interesting.

They should give the wolf guitar to Powerwolf, it'd suit them.

the Stream model is killer, I am going to try and track down a Miku Stream model for myself soon, I HAVE to have one. This makes me wonder what would happen if he got ahold of the E-II/Standard Series eclipse or even the Original Series...

Bit of an off topic question, but is there like a “trogly” that focuses much more on Ibanez, fender, esp etc? I love this channel but I’m not much of a Gibson guy so it would be cool to learn about stuff more similar to what I play.

I think Landon Bailey does a similar kind of thing with Fender guitars. Not as knowledgeable as Trogly though

The "wolf" guitar reminds me of the movie "The Thing" when the wolf was being transformed into the alien creature or whatever the hell was going on in that moment. Pretty wierd! Thanks again for the vids!!

Like it or not you have to respect the craftsmanship these builders posses. Absolutely beautiful and amazing precision work. Gibson should take some classes over at esp on how to get consistent quality

The Japanese have been leading the way with guitar quality since the 80's. Westerners just never get to see it because it's all for their domestic market. It's so competitive there that the very best gibsons and fenders get sent there because they know they have to up their game.
Gibson knows how to build in the same way...they just choose not to. For them it's profit first, quality second. The Japanese have the reverse mentality. Build the best quality product you can and you WILL make money.

9:53 you keep saying’Rosin’. That’s the stuff that goes on violin bows. You mean to say ‘Resin’ as in ‘Epoxy Resin’. That’s what they’re doing on the wood with these.
