100% without a shadow of a doubt God gave you that calling to put your family on the internet. I found you in 2009 at the beginning of a very long a lonely road of becoming an alcoholic. During those years of losing everyone I ever loved, I was able to turn on the shaytards and feel like I still had a family. I didn’t feel alone. Then your channel inspired me to start my own. I destroyed my reputation online this past year and seeing you two pull through the public controversy that you went through, helps me handle mine. Sober 14 months now. I know you’ve been wanting this podcast for a long time, I’m glad you are doing it now! It’s perfect timing while I rebuild my life. ❤ Love you guys.
I’m one of those who has been watching since Gavin was a little kid. Wow! I’m so proud of him and happy for him! What a wonderful young man he has become. 💗👏🏻💪🏻👍🏻😎
At the beginning, when Collette looks at him while he was explaining his missionary work that is true “I’m so proud of my son” like I raised him to be a good man. I did this kind of look. That’s so heartwarming. You inspire me so much!!
Colette you have always had the most kind and gentle way about you and I truly believe it is something you passed onto Gavin. You can tell he truly respects and loves his mom! 🤍
Forgiveness is a choice and gift. I am so very grateful and proud you both chose to work through it. I love you all and so want to see families make it. Healing and restoration IS possible. I have been praying for you for many years. Keep your eyes on the Lord!
And Gavin is so right! I started watching in 2009 when I was 15 and my family was very broken. Yall brought so much joy and healing and hope to me! Now I am 30 and still supporting ❤
He's Son’Tard to people like us. Can you believe a guy from Kerala, India has been watching you since episode 5 or around that? For over a decade, I've watched you every single day. I started watching you in 2008 and created a channel to like and subscribe to your content in 2009. Your videos not only entertained me but also gave me a glimpse into American life, people, family values, and traditions - things I'd only seen in movies. There's so much more to share, but all I want to say is our love and admiration for you will continue."
I am 35 years old now and I started watching when I was twenty. It's been such a long time but I kept thinking of your family often during the last three years. Seeing you opening up is really special and I enjoy your podcasts, even though I am not religious and I don't aspire to have kids. I feel like you're still opening up new worlds and thoughts for me and it has been like that since day one! Thank you! It was so good to see and hear Gavin ❤
To speak more on what Gavin was saying, I’m one of those people who didn’t have a good family growing up and watching you guys made me want to work towards that so badly. I wanted the Shaytard family.. and as I write this I am happily rocking my 4th baby to sleep while my loving and devoted husband plays with the kids outside. Say what you want about family vloggers and I’m sure there is negatives but it highly highly impacted me and paved my future
I started watching Shaytards when I was 15. I am now 30. I can't believe little Gavin is turning 21! I had the pleasure of meeting your family 2x at playlist live 2 years in a row. I was even in the room when Colette announced her pregnancy with Daxton.
Gavin, wow you have grown so much and are incredibly intelligent and wise. Good on you for trying to bring people to Jesus. He truly is a Healer, a loving faithful Father and helps us see others the way He sees us. It is clear to see how you have spiritually matured and the Holy Spirit rests upon you. Your mom is so encouraging and I’ve always enjoyed watching your family over the many years on RUclips.
Gavin is awesome. No matter what you believe it’s still amazing experience and tough for a child coming out of school and being away from family for 2 years. Great young man and Collette your life your decision!! I will always support you and your family.
Gavin you look so handsome. You look like a Clean Cut Shay. I'm happy you don't have long hair.. you have always been an amazing guy. I have watched you since the first Shaytards
Wow so cool to see sontard all grown up! I’m not religious but I appreciate that his faith has helped him through stuff. He’s wise just like his mom :)
Gavin is big Brock. Colette embodies the true definition of a loving mother and wife. Don’t listen to negative voices. Staying with Shay and keeping the family together is a noble and righteous decision.
Aww Gavin! It was so lovely to get to know him even more through this episode. I loved what you both said about faith and how it doesn’t have to be a certain faith to be right for you. I’ve been thinking a lot about that lately so it was nice to hear 💜 Can’t wait for part 2!
Great episode! So glad you brought Gavin on. He has always been a calming/cool soul in your vlogs. It was nice to hear from him and more on his thoughts. He said it best in the first couple mins, so many of us, me included, felt a part of your whole family, when i didnt have that at home and growing up. So many experiences that had you not vlog'd id have never seen or heard of. Thanks for coming on Gavin, you've got a wonderful supportive family, and that includes so many of us in the shaytards fandom. I am proud of you, and not even related to you by blood, but through the online world. Keep being awesome and grounded!
Been watching for over 15 years. I'm one of those people who needed you're family to help heal the hole in mine. Collette, I love your encouragement of us despite what our religion is. This video was super important in healing my broken heart over what happened with your family. Your family is so loved and I appreciate your truth and how you extend your family to those of us who need that healing.
Gavin is so right. You guys were LITERALLY my family growing up. I definitely didn’t have any of that. Didn’t have a dad growing up or any siblings so I felt like the oldest child of your family and I loved being apart of it all. Being here since the beginning (yes I had free range internet access at 9 years old 🫠) it was truly so nice for me to watch you guys everyday. I love that I can see you all still growing up and here I am 24, married and pregnant with my second child and I hope to build a strong family like you guys. Love you all ❤
Who cares what the comments say as long as you and Shay are happy then that's all that matters people make mistakes in life and can correct their mistakes and come back stronger I respect and have so much love for you Collette for not giving up on you're marriage
This episode made me emotional, been a fan since I was 13 and will be turning 25 next year!! The best episode yet, Gavin has grown up into a great man!! I can’t wait to see what comes next for him in the future!! I love you guys!!❤️
I need to remember to have a pen and paper at the ready, 😄 as there are so many nuggets of wisdom in your Empowered Now podcasts that feel just right for what I need in my life right now. This was another gem. Thank you both! ❤ (I'm recovering from a trauma that left me with ptsd. Feeling that help from a higher power like Jesus is much needed).
I am sooo happy you and Shay worked it out.. you both are beautiful people! Miss Shay vlogging, love his energy and humor and miss Colette singing. Gavin welcome back, your an amazing young man!
I'm absolutely loving this podcast. Wow. It's amazing to see how much Gavin and Avia are growing. They are so smart and very blessed. I don't think Colette gets enough grace for acknowledging the situation she was in. Alot of youtubers pick at situations and make a narrative of their lives. But Colette and Shay stuck it out, they privately did their therapy got help and saved their marriage and family. I applaud that
I got married 4 days after turning 18 ( no I’m not a Mormon lol) we had a baby coming! After being married for 8 years and 2 kids my life just kinda stopped in my eyes. I was unfaithful and my husband forgave me after a lot of work on myself. But we moved about 40 minutes away from everyone we knew just to start over. We spent 2 years there and just worked on our selves and each other!! That was 21 years ago and we couldn’t be happier. We are waiting our first grandchild in January. Life can move forward after an affair if the problems are fixed that started the whole mess to begin with. Just thought I should share!
Amenn🤍🤍🤍 Jesus is our healer He restores what is broken. HE LOVES US. Thankyou Gavin for speaking the truth and preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ. We can’t hold back from speaking this beautiful news. We are called to make disciples even if people dont like it.
I have watched you all from the beginning and have always followed you guys I live in Idaho in kuna and my dream has always wanted to meet you guys you both have been a inspiration to me and I have been married for 18 years you guys are amazing and still will love to meet you and the fam ❤👍
Gavin i would Love to know what's next for you. School? Job? A well deserved break. I enjoyed this episode so much! Colette you are an Amazing soul that has raised her children to be Amazing! I can't wait to see next weeks episode. I really liked Avia's episode too. I hope you plan on having Emmy also! Thank you for being so vulnerable about your experiences. I am sorry you and your family have been through such hard things but i am very happy that you made it through together and stronger. I love all the Butlers including the extended family ones!
Thank you,, I really need this message today,, I been in the hell so much now,, I lost my parents before I was 32,, then 2017 I found out I was pregnant,, I was so happy with my husband and then in October we had our baby boy,, 2weeks later he passed away,, now I’m angry,, mad hurt at God,, but knew he’s really and I need him back thank you for giving permission to be mad but knew he’s really
I have been watching since the beginning! Love you and your family ❤I am a 64 yr old cool older lady😅 I am a recovering alcoholic, I sponsor lots of women so I completely understand the pain and suffering that comes with being in Love with an alcoholic. You have learned so much from this experience. I purchased your socks, beach towels, sweatshirts etc. for my nieces😊please bring back some merch! PUT YOUR SOCKS ON!!!!!
It has been an honour watching you and your family grow. i am a year younger than gavin, but having been watching since 9 years old!! He’s grown into such a wonderful young man, you and shay should be so proud of how your children have blossomed 💕I still laugh over gavin saying Jesus would be in heaven vlogging!🤣stay blessed the lord has more in store for you xx
Now why is this convo with Gavin all about Shay's cheating? I feel like it's more of a topic than it was when Shay was on (can't remember if I finished that episode though so that may or may not be true)
A man I watch on RUclips once told a beautiful story of the most beautiful little girl he had ever met with the most beautiful name he had ever heard while was on a mission trip. Meanwhile, this same man had the most beautiful little girl that I had ever seen with the same most beautiful name that I had ever heard. His name was Shay. Her name is Avia. When I heard his story, saw his daughter, and heard the name, I knew I would name my future daughter (if I was lucky enough to have one) Avia. Several years later, I was blessed with my daughter Avia. She still has no idea who the Shaytards are, but she does know the story of her name. The version Shay told expanded to add another most beautiful girl. I also love the meaning of the name. Avia means God is my father. ❤ Thanks for helping me name my child! She is now 9 years old.
I also watched the Shaytards from a young age. I was a lonely kid raised by a single dad, and just in awe by their beautiful family. I also knew one day my daughter’s name would be Avia. Truly the most beautiful name I’d ever heard as well! She is now 3 years old! Love that we both have an Avia inspired by the Shaytards! It’s amazing how many lives this family has touched! ❤
I loved listening to this and so pleased there will be a part 2! :) Things were so different back when you started RUclips in regards to "family vlogging", as you say you were the first to do it.. It was all so new and RUclips had a tiny fraction of the audience it does now, many of us having to wait our turn on the family computer to log in! I feel so grateful to have experienced the early days of vlogs, your family helped me and many others so much growing up! Now with monetisation, social media and 'internet fame', the motivations for doing it these days can be very different, which of course can unfortunately bring more of a negative effect on the children & families involved...I am pleased to hear that Gavin looks back at it as a positive time! I appreciate you both speaking about the negative struggles you've faced and how you have been working through them. I really felt for you all when things came out online, it's hard enough when things like that happen privately, let alone being blasted out online for anyone to see! Colette you are a real inspiration in so many ways and I'm sorry that some people have negative opinions on how you have handled your own personal(!!) life. Hopefully you see that the supportive side of us viewers hugely outweigh the negative ones :) It's great to hear more about Gavin's mission, I don't really know too much about them so it's interesting to learn about. I'm glad that he has taken a lot from his experience and I feel he is going to do amazing things going forward! Much love from the UK and looking forward to part 2! 🫶
What you shared (in the vlogs) was so helpful in SO many ways. For the postive and also the _Cautionary Tales_ aspect.. example when Daxton's highchair fell over - when I had my baby (2016) I made sure to NEVER position him in front of a table so he couldnt tip himself over. I hope that comes across correctly - 🙏
I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU ALL BUTLERS NO MATTER WHAT! I AM WITH YOU ALL IN ALL SEASONS OF LIFE! SO WONDERFUL TO WITNESS EACH CHAPTER WITH Y’ALL! ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
I started watching the Shaytards channel around the time y’all moved to CA, and I refuse to believe this is Gavin, 😂 Partly because it makes me feel old and partly because I recently had a baby boy of my own ❤
Colette, I think it's ADMIRABLE that you persevered. How many people do we know who could (or WOULD be willing to) have the dedication and forgiveness to push through? It's not weakness, it's not people pleasing, unless you yourself say, yes that's what it was for me. Otherwise, it is hard work, strong FAITH, forgiveness, strength, courage, teamwork, the discipline to move forward and not make an impulsive decision in the moments of high emotion. (And thank you for being understanding of S.U.D.! It is a struggle many do not understand or empathize with.) God bless your family. Regardless of your choices, in the present or future, those are your own to make! You guys are a wonderful, loving family no matter what. PS your old podcast, I used to LOOOOVE listening to! After all this time, I didn't know if it would ever be back. But then you started this!! 🧡
Gavin...you made me cry. I'm catholic but nor religious....but I am spiritual....I've been trying to ground myself for a long time...I'm going to ask for help from something greater. I don't know what that greater is...but when you said it, and I teared up....I know it's there ❤
It's so funny that Colette is having trouble calling her son Gavin from knowing him as Elder Butler and I still think of him as "sontard." It's nice to hear from him and hear his perspective now looking back on his experiences in the vlogs. He seemed kinda shy and chill most of the time but of course Shay has such a big personality so by comparison, most people are chill. He's such a strong, mature young man and he's always been such a good kid but the mission certainly added more maturity and huge growth. Even though I personally don't believe what you guys do, it takes a lot of courage to leave your home at such a young age and do that. I never think it's okay to judge others on what they choose for their life because I haven't been in their shoes. No matter what the kids or Colette choose to do with the direction they take their lives, I support you (obviously as long as you're not doing something legit bad). Colette choosing to stay or go, both are difficult paths. My parents divorced when I was in high school and I appreciated hearing Gavin's story of forgiving his dad because it does take time to forgive our parents and understand that they are people who make mistakes. I'm 33 and our family is so much better now so keep at it!
He is like a totally different kid now! Excuse me, *man. Lol. I always wonder if it makes you sad as a mom... Or like do you mourn the fact that he left as an innocent, youthful, kid and came back seeming so different and so mature. 😢 It seems to sad!!! Anyway He is such a handsome guy, although that hasn't changed! And what a good boy you raised! ❤❤❤❤
Sontard!!! He looks like his papa! Wonderful young man! Also, ppl will talk sh and criticize specially online. People need to learn that it is your guys personal business and people should mind their own business 😂. Regardless of all the drama I’ve always loved the butlers. God Bless the shaytards!
Not to detract from the topic at hand, but at the beginning when Gavin said he was still adjusting to English, I thought he was joking. Then at 25:03, I heard the THICKEST Mexican-American accent come out of him and my ears perked up so hard lol He sounded just like me
Having listened to a lot of mormon mission stories I know that a mission is not for everyone and that it can be very traumatic, so I'm really glad that Gavin enjoyed his mission. Many young people feel pressure to go on a mission (by their parents or their community) and avoid or are discouraged from coming home early, but it looks like you made sure Gavin knew that you loved him no matter what, and that he could make these decisions for himself. That's great parenting and I would assume that it really helped him before and during his mission. Thank you for bringing Gavin on, I loved the episode!🧡
Did we listen to the same podcast? At least half was about his mission. And not only that but he got to speak about growing up on camera and I for one enjoy the fact that she is brave enough to talk about it instead of just ignoring the elephant in the room. That time in their marriage was a huge part of her and her kids lives. Why wouldn’t she talk about it on her podcast?
I would love to see Gavin continue his ministry on youtube. I appreciate his wisdom. I've been into the new agey coaching for years, but the wisdom Gavin is talking about goes way deeper.
Bottom line, If you are happy and you are not hurting family. You do you. Wow Gavin has grown so much inside and out. Shay clone. I have a life couselor who was abused by her husband. They are both rehabilitated. That's how she became a couselor. Their marriage and family are great now. Religion has helped its taken me a long time to realize that.
You're not the first woman to take back her partner after cheating. People shouldn't have such opinions. Unfortunately, that's the outcome of having a public platform and the peri social relationships they developed from your channel. How does it feel to be the family that created family vlogging? Now we have over the top vloggers who exploit to the point that the children will have to be compensated.

Feliz de tenerte de regreso Gavin, we missed you!
I haven't seen your videos in so long and is so wild to see how your kids have grown up so much. They grow up so fast.
It’s crazy how much he sounds like Shay man I remember when he just started skating.
I think there should be a rapid fire Q&A segment on these videos and only the most liked comments get asked due to demand
Holy cow he sounds like Shay!
21:17.
You have always had a beautiful foundation as a family and that's alot of hard work from both people.
Amazing ❤

Much respect for finally addressing the cheating thing head on this episode & the last

I remember hearing all about Shays mission now we’re getting to hear about Gavins!! Time flies 🥲🥲
Gavin has Shays mannerisms. He sounds like a very nice young man!
I’m really excited for this
Gavin, you rock!
Gavin is and old soul type...protector...spiritual soul
Agreed, he has been like that since young and I’m so proud to watch him grow into a fine young gentlemen. His future wife is gonna be so lucky!
Jocko’s father was my high school teacher. I only learned this a couple years ago but jocko is a cool man.
Yes Gavin preachin the gospel 🥹👏🏼 you are so wise!!!
Torrrrrrrrrrreon!
Compa said it right!
And he will always be our SONTARD!!!!!!
His accent is so spot on dude, good job
This is beautiful ❤ I also have a 9 year old her name is Avilynne.
Hopefully you see that the supportive side of us viewers hugely outweigh the negative ones :)
It's great to hear more about Gavin's mission, I don't really know too much about them so it's interesting to learn about. I'm glad that he has taken a lot from his experience and I feel he is going to do amazing things going forward!
Much love from the UK and looking forward to part 2! 🫶
You look SOOOOOO GOOD Colette. Gavin you look MIIIIIGHTY GOOD too. 💖💖
I listened to this on the app and it was beautiful I really admire Gavin too I been watching you guys for 10 years now😁😁😁
What a gr8 podcast. I've always watched and don't judge. People can be so nasty, it's all ok and none of our business ❤
Yes I'm a day 1 watcher
What you shared (in the vlogs) was so helpful in SO many ways. For the postive and also the _Cautionary Tales_ aspect.. example when Daxton's highchair fell over - when I had my baby (2016) I made sure to NEVER position him in front of a table so he couldnt tip himself over. I hope that comes across correctly - 🙏
Great video! Gavin is awesome. Thank you.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU ALL BUTLERS NO MATTER WHAT! I AM WITH YOU ALL IN ALL SEASONS OF LIFE! SO WONDERFUL TO WITNESS EACH CHAPTER WITH Y’ALL! ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
Omg he looks just like his dad
Colette's like the youtube mum. She's so easy on the eye. Like pretty pretty.
I started watching the Shaytards channel around the time y’all moved to CA, and I refuse to believe this is Gavin, 😂
Partly because it makes me feel old and partly because I recently had a baby boy of my own ❤
Gavin is so insightful ❤❤❤❤and handsome!
Ya dice Torreón México, como todo un mexicano 👌👏
SHAY GOT YOUNGER!!!!!
I don't know what that greater is...but when you said it, and I teared up....I know it's there ❤
Love you Guys!
Loved it!!
this was a great listen
The haters trip me out 😂
He is like a totally different kid now!
Then at 25:03, I heard the THICKEST Mexican-American accent come out of him and my ears perked up so hard lol
He sounded just like me
the way his whole family needed to start a PR team to clean up his mess FOR him
Having listened to a lot of mormon mission stories I know that a mission is not for everyone and that it can be very traumatic, so I'm really glad that Gavin enjoyed his mission.
Wow its like Shay 2.0
I don’t understand why she would have Gavin on this podcast just talking about her and Shay. It’s so uncomfortable.😭😭
@ well it looks like we just had different opinions don’t we?☺️
I would love to see Gavin continue his ministry on youtube. I appreciate his wisdom. I've been into the new agey coaching for years, but the wisdom Gavin is talking about goes way deeper.
At first glance I thought that was Shay 😮
Elder Gavin
Bottom line, If you are happy and you are not hurting family. You do you. Wow Gavin has grown so much inside and out. Shay clone. I have a life couselor who was abused by her husband. They are both rehabilitated. That's how she became a couselor. Their marriage and family are great now. Religion has helped its taken me a long time to realize that.
Question.,. Why do Mormons leave for other countries, to help people in need. So many in America are in great need.
Just wondering.
The have domestic and international assignments. It just depends per person where they get assigned
since he was plugging toilets in la the little cutie
You're not the first woman to take back her partner after cheating. People shouldn't have such opinions. Unfortunately, that's the outcome of having a public platform and the peri social relationships they developed from your channel.
How does it feel to be the family that created family vlogging? Now we have over the top vloggers who exploit to the point that the children will have to be compensated.
Gavin seems to be the most humble person on earth, he has a deep calling , i can feel it!
