Aaron Rodgers' beef with Ndamukong Suh had cold feet, hard hits, and took a decade to play out

- For a long time, when Aaron Rodgers and Ndamukong Suh got together it smelled like beef. It made sense - quarterbacks and those who harass quarterbacks often don’t get along. They were part of a long-standing divisional rivalry for five seasons, and as part of that rivalry, gave us the beefiest moment. So then, why did it take a full decade for them to have proper beef?

A glaring omission in this beef: the lions had a 23 year losing streak in green bay going into the 2014 game that he stepped on Rodgers. I had to wait until I was 22 to see a lions victory in green bay

Some spicy early morning beef is exactly how I needed to start my day
Suh had a beef with all QBs. The step was bad but I think the kick was worse. Also the Suhplex he used to do was the worst. He injured a lot of QBs his first couple of years.
Not exactly; he was an animal and some of those looked worse because of the strength he had. That sack on the Bears qb (Cutler) where he was flagged was a complete absurdity and turned him into public enemy #1.
Almost like he's a dirty player
@@jordanfry5138 most elite d line men are
Cant take the hits don’t put on the pads.
@@jordanfry5138 I hate to tell you this, but all football players break the rules. You're taught to break the rules by your coach and taught how to keep from getting in trouble.
Quarterbacks represent the biggest egos and, thus, the biggest whiners. Did Suh go too far? Yes. Are quarterbacks the most protected players in the league and feel entitled because of it? Almost certainly. Unwritten rules exist solely to protect ego.
Suh represents a kind of mentality you know you shouldn't like but it is such a pure, genuine throwback to the likes of Chuck Bednarik with frothing hatred for quarterbacks that you can't altogether hate either. If you like gridiron football, you have to reckon with the fact that it is a full-contact sport and players like Suh force us to see it at its most aggressive, for better and for worse.
As a Packers fan, I cannot fault Suh for his attitude for "doing his job". Aggressively. It's what makes the game fun to watch.
What I CAN fault him for is his attempt to injure other players after the whistle. That's dirty, and there's no place for it in football or any other sport. If you're going to beat someone, beat them BEFORE the whistle blows. Otherwise, have some class and take your loss.
Why did Suh name Sam Bradford as the quarterback he hated the most? The video chalks it up to Bradford being the only player drafted ahead of him but the beef goes back earlier than that. Suh went to Nebraska; Bradford? Oklahoma. They faced only one time in college, with Bradford's Sooners trouncing the Cornhuskers 62-28. Bradford threw 5 touchdown passes - including 3 in a first quarter that ended with a score of 35-0. Bradford being drafted #1 overall was just salt in an already open wound.
Thank you for the subversive callout to the fantastic chef Rick Bayless! Great video overall! Love Beef History!

The video weirdly glosses over a ton of things. Like acknowledging that Suh and Rodgers played for division rivals, and had several really nasty, highly scrutinized on-field interactions, but then also framing it like they didn't really start feuding until years later...
Yeah, came to find this comment myself. Rodgers might have taken issue with Suh stomping on his OL, maybe even more than the step

Aaron Rodgers biggest beef was the 49ers not drafting him.
Aaron Rodgers worst beef was losing to the 49ers in the playoffs constantly.
Idk if constantly is the best word as they’ve only beat him four times in the playoffs and two of those were three point games. But I see your point. They really have been his kryptonite though I would argue the only one I would blame Rodgers for is the last one as he has never had a good defense and his defense has always folded in big games. As a die hard college football fan, Saban is definitely the best, but he wasn't even good at the pro level. Please do a Beef History of Aaron Rodgers vs the Chicago Bears. There is ALOT of stuff there
In his years playing the Packers with the Lions, Suh was an extremely dirty player. Stomping on Dietrich-Smith, kicking a Packers offensive lineman, TJ Lang or Don Barclay I think, in the head, as well late hits on Rodgers and stepping on his injured calf. Former Packers offensive lineman have also stated that Suh would constantly be playing dirty while in a pile up. Given that Rodgers seems to have a pretty good relationship with his past and current offensive lineman, it's reasonable that their beef started because Rodgers is backing his guys up.
Yeah it’s heated 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remember after the stepping on some older, notable players came out to the media like Sportscenter and discussed their viewpoint as Suh being a victim of his era and that he would've been beloved or even treated as normal in theirs. It was definitely eye opening how eye opening everyones reaction was.
