  • Despite what you may have heard, Volvo still makes cars and SUVs with internal combustion engines. And, one more thing, they still make station wagons, too! And while this V90 Cross Country may be bigger and certainly more beautiful than Volvo wagons of old, its mission remains much the same. #Volvo #VolvoV90

    In 2020 I shopped this with a MB E-450 wagon and went with the latter. That 4 cylinder engine, even turbo and super charged struggled with the 4700lb weight. My wife was with me on the test drive and when I tried merge onto the highway it was very noisy and unrefined. My wife asked why is it so noisy and the sales guy said its the turbo spooling up. I responded that its a 4700lb vehicle with a struggling 4 cylinder engine. The interior is about 20% less space than my 2014 Volvo XC70 T6 wagon. It was also expensive at low $60's for a loaded V90 XC. I ended up buying the E-450 with an almost 390HP 3.0 litre twin turbo 6 cylinder. It was smooth, refined and hauled if put into sport mode. I got a great deal on a new 2020 in early 2021 making the E-450 only $4800 more than the Volvo and there is no comparison there in my opinion.

    I drove the sedan version of this, the s60. I had to put it on my car trailer for transport. It was my least favorite vehicle I had to transport that week. Everything about it felt cheap. From the cheap starter knob to the cheap gear shifter, it was just not a fun car to be in. Everything felt as if it was made in China. There was far too much plastic everywhere. They tried going for an upscale feel, but failed miserably. Volvo really needs a better direction. It's a good company, but it's run very very poorly. Case in point, this station wagon starts at $60k. Why buy that when there are dozens of options below it?

    • @joshh9179

      "Feels like it is made in China" makes no sense. Some Chinese cars are very well built. Some aren't. It's out of date to say in this day and age that "made in China" equates with cheap. You just didn't like the car because most people that drive any Volvo says it is strong and substantial in feel, not cheep. And the v90 is an expensive car, solidly 70 thousand and many think it's a bargain compared to other European cars.
      The s60 is constructed in the USA and sadly, some of them aren't built as well as the Volvos made in Europe and the s90, made in China.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 2 года назад +1
