There definitely is nothing more comforting & cosy and tasy than a lekker tomato or boontjie bredie. Cannot call it stew, it's a bredie. en klaar. Only thing different from this method is that we used to put the potatoes in much earlier. But the sweet taste of tamatie bredie is the BEST! Thanks auntie Fatima!

This is my favorite recipe. Ive used venison, chicken and beef. I couldn't find pimento balls so I used the powder and it was fine. If at the end of cooking the tomato is still too much I stir through some butter to cut through the tomato. Yummy 😋

My mom wanted tomato bredie. So I copied this recipe (except the chilli as people here have an aversion). I really enjoyed it. Easy recipe. Delicious. Jou giggel klink stout ne.

Basmati: cook let's say 1 cup of washed rice in enough boiling hot water water to cover the rice, to swell up and absorb, and still hf ave water remaining. So I guess 2 cups water. Put in some salt, around three quarter teaspoon. Boil, but remember to stir, especially in the beginning so that it cooks loosely n does not stick into a huge mass. When the rice grains have swollen, drain off the remaining water. Put the rice back in the pot with about quarter to half cup water. Steam on a low heat. After u see the steam developing from the pot, let it go for another 2-3 mins. Then switch off n leave to rest without opening. Cooks perfectly every time. The entire process last for about 8 to 10 mins. Let me know how it came.
Making this at the very moment, my pot is saucy and smelling gooood. Tomato bredie is my most favourite childhood food. Shukraan aunty Fatima ❤ You're always bring us back home.
