Best fucking reviews in the game. I didn't even KNOW there was a Bloodstained 2 until I saw this in my sub box. Looks like a really fun time to be honest, even if you have to play through the game multiple times. I think the thinking for devs when they do this is that they've created a fun enough system of combat and by tweaking it in significant ways, going through the same areas gives you the familiarity you need to feel smart and strong but the new mechanics presented gives you a new reason to push through and change how you played it through the first time.
Tying the story to it can be kind of lame or diminish the experience, but I feel like with these games the story usually isn't spectacular or mind blowing anyways so I assume the devs know this and were hoping that wasn't the main reason you're going through, but giving you more and making it seem like the "real" ending would just be another reason to go through it.
Either way this game seems like a super solid effort and like a lot of fun to play, excited to see if my younger brother or sister (maybe both) will be interested to play this with me.

Great review to a great game. Just as an example to those that like physical copies (like myself), I finally got my copy for the Switch this week from Limited Run Games~ well over a year after this review was posted. But, it was well worth the wait to me to have this in-hand rather than only digital. Bring on Curse of the Moon 3!

I'm more of a Metroidvania than a Classicvania yet I also loved Curse of the Moon so much because it was a style that I'd never really played much before. Ritual was excellent but Classicvania are far more rare and a good Classicvania really stands out as a result.

The "padding" arguably happened with the first game as well with regards to how certain endings basically required replaying the entire game a second time. Not entirely certain that's what we're talking about here, but it sounds quite similar. That isn't even taking into account the various number of endings the game had in general. Still, it was a fun enough game and short enough that having specific clear conditions to open up "new episodes" felt reasonable. Deaths from falling have been pretty awkwardly punishing in it's "old school" kind of way since it simply killed off that specific character and sent you back to the start of the section. I recall finding myself in more than one jumping or timing critical section just to repeatedly lose 1-2 characters and have to restart the run numerous times. Still, a satisfying experience and I'm looking forward to the sequel delivering a similar experience.

Technically Konami did recently release a new Castlevania game: Grimoire of Souls. However it's a mobile game, only barely got released outside of Japan (not in America though; only Canada) and was recently announced to be shutting down in September after only a year in action. Which is pretty pathetic. Once again, Konami proves that they are the literal fucking worst. #FucKonami.

You left out a couple of details you talked about 4 playable characters they're not for playable characters there are seven playable characters because three of the characters from the first game return in the second game if you get the bad ending you can unlock 3 returning characters from the first game you dummy Soldier 7 characters in the game you forgot to mention you can also play in this game as Miriam and Alfred and Gubal from the first game and you also forgot to mention one other thing about bloodstained curse of the Moon 2 you forgot to mention one part of the story that would have been nice for people to know like how many years it is after the first game story-wise and I have both games except for the character you starting off with doesn't end up killing the other characters that's the only change they made and no local two-player is not a welcome addition it is a mistake a multiplayer option in the game would have made more sense if it was an online two-player game not useless local 2p is always a bad idea in this day and age you have a better chance of getting a two player game or more with the internet than you do in person two-player local only worked back in the 80s and 90s in dumb dumb in this day needs the most chance you have of getting a two-player experience is through the internet online stupid easy game Ally stop thinking local two-player is a good idea it is a bad idea in this day and age in this day and age you have more of a chance of getting a multiplayer option through the internet less chance locally practically zero chance of getting a local multiplayer option even in the Warriors series 2-player local is a bad idea Tecmo Warriors series would be better with a multiplayer up to 4 players online would be a better idea cuz you have a better chance of getting a multiplayer function work with the internet and less chance in person so a local multiplayer option is a bad idea in this day and age local multiplayer option only worked back in the eighties and nineties what was more possible but in this day and age you need a multiplayer online option you have more of a chance of getting more two players or more with the internet than you do in person the multiplayer local option is a dinosaur option it is a 90s and 80s idea past its prime it is time to ditch the local game player option can stick with a multiplayer online option instead and no more local because it is an old idea that doesn't work since the 80s and 90s very well online multiplayer is more of a chance of getting another person to play the game with much higher chance through the internet multiplayer is more of a higher chance of being of the play the game with somebody local is practically a waste of time because that option local only worked back in the days of the 80's and 90's nowadays you have less of a chance of finding anybody to play in person anymore and most relatives don't play those games all that much you have more of a chance of playing somebody through the internet multiplayer than in person
