Especially as a young person wanting to learn about credit cards, this video is very informative. Well done!
Thank you!
Excellent summary. Got the Amex gold for the first time 4 months ago and this is a useful reminder of all it offers. I also got a bonus amount by getting a second card for my wife.
Thank you! And the bonus for the first supplementary card is a good one, completely forgot about it.
Just to make sure on return flight lounge accesses: one way 1person + complementary and return flight back 1person+ complimentary= counts as 4 passes? thank you for top updates on Amex mate
Correct, if you take a return trip as 2 people and use the lounge both ways, you will need 4 passes. So basically every time someone enters a lounge = 1 pass.
You forgot to mention a major value driver for this card - Amex offers that routinely allow you to save multiples of the annual fee with various retailers across the UK, as well as major airlines and hotel chains. I routinely get offers like “spend £300 to get £100 back” on marriott, Hilton, IHG and other chains. Additionally, one of those offers is “Amex dining” that gives you 10-20% off hundreds of restaurants across the UK and abroad.
I agree that you can get this can deliver good value but this benefit is not specific to the Gold card. I get similar offers on the Platinum and BAPP.
Hey man recently im watching a lot of us credit cards trifecta set up and realised how awful the situation the situation is in uk. Their no annual fee cards benefits beats the uk amex plat and gold with crazy annual fees. We have no chase, capital 1 or citi cards to even go to. Basically even if you have large spending budget you have no options in uk.😢😢😢😢😢😅
Agree with you here. But things are looking a lot brighter now than e.g. 5 years ago (Amex is a lot more generous with welcome bonuses, the new Barclays/Avios products). Plus I'm looking forward to new players coming to the market, which will increase competition (e.g. there's chatter about a credit card from Chase, Revolut is rolling out some kind of reward points currency in Europe)
@LoyaltyLlama I heard a funny story yesterday from a frequent global traveller american RUclipsr that because Americans have so many options with credit cards that their top rated airport lounges are mostly packed and expensive hotel room upgrades is also highly competitive. But when they travel to Europe or Asia they have no problem because the local people don't even have access to luxury travel or hotel cards so it is an American issue.
Depends on if it’s your first card too right? I’ve seen that you can still get welcome bonus if you start with gold and then moved to BAPP card. But can’t do this vice versa
Correct. BAPP (and also the Platinum card) have the advantage of not restricting your welcome bonus eligibility for cards that earn a different reward currency.
One even cooler thing to mention for avios favourites is buying using Amex in general whether gold, platinum or ba on the BA store for common brands and giving even greater avios rewards can really make it worth it!
One bonus of gold/platinum is the ability to choose how to spend the rewards other cards are generally locked
Yeah, BA store is a great way to earn extra Avios in addition to whatever rewards your cc is giving you! I do also talk cover it in this video about the ways to earn more Avios - ruclips.net/video/Xz8ve0MRSMA/видео.htmlsi=Ain0xe10g90toBiu
Do you need to make 2 deliveroo orders to get the cashback or is one fine?
Have to be 2 transactions to use full cashback (you'll get £5 back per transaction)
Hi there, sorry just a quick question... to use the flight lounge, do I need to have my flight with the company or even flying with a different company I can use the lounge having Amex ? thank you!
If you get the Amex Gold, this also gives you a Priority Pass card which arrives in the mail a bit later (or you can get a digital version right away). You can use this to enter Priority Pass lounges regardless of which airline you're flying with. The first 4 visits every membership year are free.
@@LoyaltyLlama amazing!! thank you!!
Hi mate! I have question which doesn’t seem so important but recently I referred my sister to join and when she received her card the details were written in black. (Usually as the visuals of the card show) however, my card doesn’t. It features the silver digits for the name number etc. do you know why they’re different?
I think Amex changed their card designs slightly. I recently got a new Amex card and it similarly has the number printed on the back instead of silver digits on the front.
@@LoyaltyLlamaYes! This came to my understanding. I was just unsure since I could have sworn the name and number have always been advertising as the new layout in bold black texts
Do you think the gold card is better than the ba amex premium card?
Short answer: I don't think either of them is better, they just have different purposes. Slightly longer answer: I have a video comparing these two - ruclips.net/video/0ng7gpAQpwQ/видео.html
£15 for lounge pass? Everytime I go is £24
Hi! I just meant £15 as the value I put on a lounge pass (i.e. if I had to pay for them, I wouldn't buy one for more than £15). But may be nowadays that's too conservative.
What cards do you recommend me to get if I were to leave the Amex Gold?
It doesn't matter as much which card you're leaving behind, it's more about what you want out of your next card (cashback, travel rewards, lounge access, something else, etc)
Difficult to say but most commonly Ba cards, also if your an avios muncher take a look at the Barclays card which also has avios
What’s the limit on it.
It's different for everyone. They tell you your limit after you've been approved.

Worthless card. No benefits whatsoever. Hotel options, very sparse. Some major holiday destinations have no hotel listing at all. There is NO lounge pass card!!!
It all depends on your spending. Someone who takes full advantage of Deliveroo credits, 4 lounge passes and spends frequently on travel would benefit from the card. Otherwise, yeah, would be a waste of money.
