I barely travel, just once or twice a year. I do feel I get my moneys worth 100% so I use majority of the points as cash with the Charles Schwab version. The 1.1 CPP is sweet, if you also carry the gold card, since both pool points together.
@@KevinYang always had the Schwab, I knew from the start I would get a better “ROI” if I started with the Schwab despite the lower bonus. I don’t want to bother a year with the vanilla then switch to Schwab. I rather not run any risk whatsoever. Schwab for the win.
I find Amex points to be super hard to use. One of my least valued points of all the reward cards. The transfers ratios are similar to other premium travel cards, and it is easier to earn points on those other cards (like 3% on restaurants with Chase Sapphire Reserve, or 2% base on the Venture X).
Thanks so much for this. Just got an Amex Platinum month ago and chipping away to earn that welcome bonus. This is very helpful information to use when I’m able to earn that bonus.
I always remind myself, I don’t have to always get the best redemption value/cpp as long as it fits to my situation. Yes, it is nice to get over 2 cpp but I think depending on your situation for instance you wanna save cash instead of points for your travel then it is no brainer to book your travel with points even if it is lower than the normal 2 cpp.
Couldn't agree more! I would say at least personally, there is a minimum bar I'd prefer to redeem for (and fortunately has always been above that), but the balance between effort vs. value is a key factor to keep in mind!
How do you feel about American Express points? What's your favorite or best redemption so far? 👇

@@YumDex Yeah the 1.1 cpp is a great escape hatch to still get good value from MR points. Did you always have the Schwab, or did you switch over?

@@YumDex Makes sense, and with the somewhat recent changes to lump all the Plat cards into one "family", makes even more sense

Glad it was useful! Which method do you think you'll be doing?
@@KevinYang for sure utilizing the transfer to travel partners.
@@jmalvarado1982 Nice! Any program or specific flight or airline you're eyeing?
610,000 points, you been churning Kevin!
Haha tbh, I've never cancelled a single Amex card!
Perfect video for me. I plan on swapping from Chase Trifecta to Amex (gold, plat/green, BBP) next year
By swapping do you mean cancelling, or just keeping them open but focusing on Amex?

Great guide. Thanks Kevin!
Glad you enjoyed it Paul!
A very informative video keep it up Kevin
Thanks for watching!
It's 24 hundred, not 24 thousand. Huge difference
