Thanks for another great video! When you mentioned the quality of today's music it reminded me of a conversation I had with a young man at the gym. I told him the music he was playing was like listening to a washing machine, because it's just the same few seconds of sound repeated over and over. He paused and listened, then said "Huh, I never noticed that before". Personally, I collect 78s and cylinders, only because I love listening to the music from about 1900 up to the 1950s. I have a player piano for the same reason.
I’m a child of the 70s and I have many good classic rock albums. I had an inexpensive record player and I thought that it would have damaged some of those great albums. I pulled them out of storage and listened to a few and I’ve gotta say that they were magical!! You get so used to CDs or streaming music that you forget how good those old vinyls sound. I’m happy for the resurgence of vinyl!! Love your Collecting 101 series!! Keep up the great work!
Love the look of you in your glasses. You should wear them more often. Would love to hear you expand on the history of records/music. Much love from Virginia
@@66uniqueantiques I grew up with my Grandfather having a love for clocks. Westminster Chimes rang out every quarter, half and hour from three different clocks. He also had a Ship's clock that had the most unique bell chime. I am weird...I love the sound of an old Wesclox wind up clock! Our youngest son found a really old one at an antique mall that sits bedside. Wind it up every night. I freaked out the day it stopped, but found a nearby home business that repairs all clocks. It works again! Most are not repairable due to inexpensive parts that just wear out after 50 plus years! LOL
I agree it can be hard to find someone to repair those older clocks. We have a lot of clocks that all chime something different every hour. I remember my grandparents had a grandfather clock and always wanted one so was blessed when we found one at a moving sale
Mike , for any of your younger viewers who want to hear the difference in the music from the 60's compared to the autotuned music of today . I would suggest them to watch the video of Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers sing " Unchained Melody " which was recorded live in 1965 . I have the " just Once In My Life " L P and I still get goose bumps when I listen to it . Thank you for sharing and keep them coming .
Also....tune into Excellent reaction YT channel Jamal. He loves all good music. I am so glad he has an appreciation for it...shares it with us and all who have not heard good music!
I love your collecting 101 videos and look forward to them they help me to learn so much about antiques. You asked for video ideas I would like to see a video on costume jewelry and also I would like to see a video on lunch boxes and toy collecting
Hello. One more comment from me. Would you consider doing a video on Beer Trays? My dad collected them, and some of them are beautiful; all of them are interesting.
I'm excited to see which of the albums I gave to my framer he returns! Most of them were soft rock, but I have an eclectic mix. I must have given him 75 albums, but 2 small boxes loaded with 45's! I own 78s that I've never listened to. Got them from an auction of goods from back East. No covers on most of them. Some only on one side. I kept back at least another 50 that were not in my framer's interest: symphonies, Liberace, Lawrence Welk, Perry Como, German music, Robert Goulet! I have hundreds of cassettes, listen to them in my kitchen when I have to be in there! Plus at least 100+ CDs for the same reason (that I also change out in my car for my visits in/around town.)---I'm out of suggestions for the future. Excited to see what you've got in mind!
I grew up listening to rock greats and completely understand what you mean about everything sounds fake. There are good bands out there though. Some more modern groups that I have been listening to are Greta Van Fleet, The Blank Angels, Rival Sons, Queens of the Stone Age, The Heavy, Muse, and Set the Charge. I can go on but I'll stop there. I'm currently finding LP Records at thrift shops that I had listened to when growing up. Plan on framing them and making a gallery wall.
One caveat about CDs. There are superior CDs that approximate the vinyl although not quite - usually depends on the studio mixing and label. Also some CDs were very small operations and never produced as much as the large companies. For example ASV, Opus 111 label and labels that focused on Renaissance vocal music, for example, can be quite in demand by audiophiles but the premium may very wildly. Some of these companies issued LPs too so these can have value.
Mike after watching your video I had to go check my Beatles white album . It's in pretty bad condition and there is no longer a serial number on it . Oh well , I'll keep trying . I wanted to list some of my favorites that I have framed . Lynyrd Skynyrd " Street Survivors " with the flames that was released before the plane crash . Cheech and Chong " Big Bambu" , which has an album size rolling paper inside . Prince "Diamonds and Pearls" , very short release , Meatloaf " Bat Out Of Hell " , and Kiss " Destroyer . Just because those albums look bad ass and the 1991 Nirvana "Nevermind".
Mike , also want to give everyone a heads up that there are a lot of Russian counterfeits hitting the market . They have no barcode or record label on the back cover .
I have close to 1000 albums that range from 1950s country to 1980s rock, where do I sell them for the best dollar. I'm ready to off load them but don't want to give them away for a buck.

I couldn't agree more! I also like listening to that era music it always brings back good memories and a simpler time. Thanks for watching Carl
Very cool! Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks for watching Amber! Hopefully we will be getting a card reading video soon??😉😏👍

Thanks Sandy! I'll add it to the video ideas
I love your information! Plus, I get to hear a beautiful clock chime in the background. God Bless!
Thanks Fawnlee! We love our grandfather clock 🙂🙂

Absolutely! Adding it to the list

No worries we have plenty of ideas but always looking for more 🙂🙂
I agree with real things.Even Amazon are opening a shop.
Thx for the video! Here's an idea: Liddle Kiddles
Thanks for the idea! I got it down
I personally ran through several 8 track tapes. I'd be surprised if any still exist!
They are still out there but have yet to gain the popularity LPs did
@@66uniqueantiques judging from my experience it's because they randomly unspooled and got caught in the tape player!!!
😂 that definitely happens to
Nice lamp.Has Amber put the kichenalia back up?
Mostly yes but with a new look kitchen comes new decor I'm told 🙄😂
@@66uniqueantiques 😂😂😂no surprise.Thankfully you've hit the jackpot with this woman, you can sell what she discards
That's very true and exactly what we do

Awesome idea on framing them! I'll check out those bands as I'm always looking for good music to listen to

Interesting info! Thanks for the insight
love this series... wasn't that wu-tang clan album owned by martin shkeli? or didn't he have something to do with it? (the big pharm guy in prison)
Yes it was and he was forced to turn it over and the US resold it

Stacking albums cause ring wear onto the album jackets.
Yes it does.... Storing vertically is the way to go

Good info! Thanks
Sometimes the label is worth most of the money. Carl Perkins is on Sun Records.
100% correct
Your album prices are similar here in England.
It's a great market right now for sure
