i carried a q6600 through to dec 2019 using 8gb ram and a 750TI, played dark souls 1 remastered fine xD (pretty much the only new game i had wanted to play at the time)
I had a core 2 quad until mid 2018 and had to retire it because it wasn't running games like Fortnite without crazy stutter and drops to like 40fps all the time etc. Been running i7 4770 since and that thing is still amazing for gaming.

@@JudeTheRUclipsPoopersubscribe OMG!!! I've just upgraded to the 1030 this Christmas from a quadro 600. Wierd because in GTA I'm getting like 50 fps on high details. Maybe they optimised the drivers better?? Who knows. Hahah
@@hughdavies1177 I was using a q8400 with gt 1030 2gb gddr5 with 8gb ddr2 800mhz ram and I played the whole story mode at high around 40fps ish. Maybe in 3 years its better optimised but now I'm playing on ultra at 90fps because I've got a gtx 1070

My secondary PC has a Q6600 and a GeForce 8600 gs. Runs win7 fine, CS:GO under 15fps even at low settings (it's surprisingly bad), Minecraft well over 60fps even at medium settings. But the Q9000 generation are quite a bit better apperantly
I'm planning to look at the Q9X series of C2Q in the future if you'd be interested in seeing that :)

I currently use a Q9300 with 8GB DDR2 and a GT1030 with a mild overclock on WIn 7 that I use to play Crysis, Far Cry and Wolfenstein 2009. This setup runs these games very nicely.

Tape hack the CPU and it will tell the bios to run the CPU at 3ghz and then you could even put in a 750ti and play GTA V fine
my pc could run gta 7 at avg of 4201337666fps and 696969 at the worst and the best fps is ∞ fps
I'm sure that Sandybridge, or other more modern system would be a better deal, but if one of these is what you've got then hey there you have it. I have an old Optiplex that came with a 3.0 GHz Pentium D, and since it's all I have, it's what I'm going with. With a few parts laying around, I'm putting in 8GB Ram, a Q6700 Core 2 Quad and a 500GB SATA III SSD Boot drive running Linux Mint 19.2. I'm not a game player, but this ought to be a decent TV Typewriter and web cruiser for a few more years. If I need something more modern, I can use my laptop. Nothing wrong with keeping older systems out of the trash bin if they can be used. That's where I got mine. Peace ✌️.
I built a system similar to this for 10$ it contained a q9450 8gb of ddr2 and a 9800gtx 1gig variant

GT 640 is GGDR3 Vram, not GDDR5
Since it's current year, do you think it would be a good idea to make these kinds of videos with these kinds of computers but with a Linux Distro instead? Maybe Fedora (KDE)?
if you see this comment, try out the eletric tape trick to overlclock this cpu even with dell's locked bios. Also, try to give it a ssd, more ram and something like a 750ti and watch it fly!

Btw you can easily overclock q6600 with tape
Should be fine for classics like Quake 1/2/4, Doom 3, Serious Sam 1/2, Painkiller series, early Far Cry, Rage, Fear series, Crysis, Stalker series, Wolfenstein (Return to Casle) and the Wolfenstein 2009 game.
My main pc is a q8200 with a 750ti minecraft 1.20 lunar client 100+ fps
had a dell like this my mom gave me...i tpok out the dual core mobo n put an am3 quad core chip in and a 4gig rx470..added a fan n grill around rhe hard drive cage...got a vid on here if wanna check it out...kinda went from intel to amd in it..
that 1 gb of vram is holding your machine back.

Ah, the Q6600...a legendary CPU. I'm glad that I kept my Dell Optiplex 380 with a Q6600 clocked at 3GHz and a GTX 1050 Ti I had in spare. It even runs GTA V at medium settings at 1080p (when using anything older than Windows 10 as it sucks up more RAM and causes texture popin with just 4GB RAM).

Did something similar but with a 30$ 775 optiplex that supported up to 16gb ddr3 1333 a 10$ modded quad core xeon and a 20$ gt730. The slight bump in processor CPU and RAM will do much better but slightly more expensive.
Techwen if you upgraded to a 750ti or GT 1030, you would be even more impressed with what a Core 2 Quad can run. While it won't cyberpunk 2077, it will can run pre 2017 games with decent playability.

Usually a bsel mod is the first thing people do to the Q6600 to overclock the fsb to 133. It gives a pretty nice performance boost and makes the q6600 kick the ass of most of the newer core 2 quad chips. But nice dell! I have one similar to it but it's an Optiplex. I took a deathwheel to the IO shield of a GTX 750 to get it in there but it worked!
How about advertising, "I'll take away your old computers to get them out of your way" on FB Marketplace and see what you get. I've seen people throw stuff like this away.

you should have used windows pe(like hirensboot)to update bios, it would have saved you 30 minutes
