I lived in Westchester back in the 60s/70s and this clip is how I remember my home. I would take La Tijera to Manchester blvd then turn left on Airport ave then right again on a side street (which on this corner of Airport and Manchester had a Shell gas station, now a McDonald's) to my Home street which was called Lilienthal ave. Another Adam-12 episode which featured my neighborhood was when Reed and his wife Chris, were going to meet Pete and is girlfriend for dinner at a restaurant. Reed having a killer Corvette convertible (top down) drove by my neighborhood theater the Loyola. It's a famous art deco theater on the corner of Sepulveda and Manchester. Since this scene was at night, you clearly see all the beautiful neon that lights up the Loyola. Pretty cool to have a favorite show mention your neighborhood. Thanks.
In the mid-90s, Kent McCord and Robert Hays were on the treadmills in front of me at the gym in Studio City. Airplane the Movie was playing on the monitor above them. Only in LA.
They can also take the 105 freeway to the Aviation Rd exit. Head north on Aviation to Century Blvd (100th St.) and Century west right onto the LAX horseshoe.
Yes indeed!!!!!! Back before they build the Century Freeway ( 1-105 ), you had to either take the San Diego Freeway ( 1-405 ) to Century Blvd west or just go West on either Century or get on Manchester Blvd west to Sepulveda North towards LAX. Or like Officer Reed said? Take the La Tijera off ramp southbound on the 405 to Century Blvd west. So glad that we can get to the Airport faster now before from back in the day
Very cool!!! Nowadays everyone either takes the La Tijera route, the Howard Hughes/Sepulveda route or the 105 fwy/Sepulveda route. So I actually take the route Adam 12 was on, Century straight on up to LAX.
that spot that was Howard Hughes property was a vacant dirt lot that had been called the bean field for years. We used to ride our bikes and jump over its hills there.
Those correlated valley-n-peak roofs on those buildings were torn down to build a parking structure. The theme building had a rotation restaurant above. The horse shoe was made two tier prior to the 84' LA Olympics. Oh... and depending where you're coming from. Passengers from the Southbay prefer the Sepulveda Underpass Tunnel. When you hit Imperial Hwy. Prior to the 105 Frwy. You could see planes arriving and departing on the runways above the tunnel.

He's right. The 10 to La Cienega. Make that right onto LA Tijera, right on Sepulveda and there you are.
It's left on Sepulveda.
❤ it!! It’s crazy to see LAX back in the day!

Back when LAX had only one level.

F’ing hilarious AND awesome! It’s like a mini version of “The Californians”. ❤😂
Classic. Pretty sure that’s a parking structure now.
Yes, the whole airport feels shrouded in parking garages.
Adam 12 and the rookies were very good cop shows
I usually go on Century form the 405 but sometimes my Uber might take La Tijera (which happened on Christmas for me).
What movie is this?
This is the original Training Day.
from a TV series
