    Busy? I don't know what you're talking about! 🤣🤣🤣
    Nice to see that it can surge like that for at least a minute. Variable loads in the home shouldn't be an issue.

    Talked to a builder yesterday who told me they installed a whole house, propane back up generator for a client and the total cost was over $13,000. I told them that they could have installed an $18,000 solar system with batteries, netted a 30% rebate via tax credit and could have powered their house full time without ever having to pay for propane to run the generator or any electric bills in the future. All for the same money. 🤦‍♂️. A whole house back up generator will never pay for itself over time. ⚡️☀️🤩👍🔋

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  7 дней назад

      Indeed! Propane backups are a bad idea unless you have plenty of money and do it on addition to solar. 👍

      Ha! My mother law runs heating and cooling on propane and I offered to do the bigger solar eg4 mini split for them but her husband is stubborn and so they keep paying to fill that big tank. Not a good financial decision for them

    Great Video, So you also have the Calpha 10K inverter, what is the better of 2 ?

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  8 дней назад +1

      The 12k has many more features. The electronics are fully enclosed with a longer warranty and life expectancy. The calpha I am still unable to get the wifi dongle to work so that has been a problem. For the price if wifi is not needed calpha has worked well. But I can’t monitor it when away from it so that doesn’t work for me. The 12k is much more expensive but is awesome!

    QUESTION; the AC Grid, let say i were to connect a grid power to this inverter just as a backup in the event that my solar not producing any power; will this AC grid charge the battery and power the loads at the same time?

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  День назад +1

      Yes it can. Just depends on your settings.

    So between the 18K and the 12K what unit gives the most bang for the buck? Doesn’t the 12K handle a higher load?

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  2 дня назад

      The 18kpv will handle 12k continuous load. The 12kpv will handle a 8k continuous load but does have a very good surge capacity for a short time. Depends on your needs because the 6000xp may be the best bang for your buck if using off grid or at least without selling back to the grid. They all have great features depending on which you need.

  • @davidbailey3289
    @davidbailey3289 8 дней назад +1

    Ok so i been asking around and nobody bothers to answer. Hopefully you will. From what I am seeing in this unit you are only required to wire L1 and L2 into the load breaker coming from the battery and you dont have to wire in any grid power or generator unless you want to. Am i correct on that and does the same thing apply to the 6000xp for those of us who are unable to afford the 12k.

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  8 дней назад

      Yes L1, L2, neutral, and ground from Inverter goes to load center panel. The battery postive and negative go to inverter. Your manual for the 6000xp will explain that when you get it. I use 3 6000xp’s on my house with no grid or gen input. 👍

      @@rodneyhunt thank you. I finally got the answer I was looking for. I had a pretty good understanding about the battery hookup but nobody ever bothered to show anything else. I just wish when people say they are going to install these inverters they don't skip details people might want to know about. Since you have had time with the 6000xp I may reach out with a question once I have mine if you don't mind.

    • @vinny143

      2 battery cables , one comm plug , turn on battery push button , turn on battery breaker , turn on 6000XP battery breaker , flip switch on right side of 6000XP , flip switch on left side of 6000XP and you will be up n running.
      The output breaker is set up for 240v , (duel pole breaker) but each side can do 120v individually.
      I used (2 - 120v extension cords) one on each leg of inverter , to run power equipment to build our cabin.
      Now its hooked to a breaker box@@davidbailey3289

    Great video. What is the size of your load? I have about 50kwk during the day, do you thing your system will help me to pass the day without batteries? Thanks

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  7 дней назад +1

      You will need some batteries for surges and night time use in my opinion. If you need to be completely off grid a minimum of 10kw array but I would always recommend more solar than you think you need. Cloudy days etc. My single array cant get that but when I get my other panels connected it may be close.

    I am in need of some help to size my upcoming whole house off grid system. My highest electric bill I used 6875 KWh for the month. That with everything in the house running A/C all day. I want to have batteries on the system as well. I want to come super close to a 100 off grid as possible. I have full sun with zero shade and south facing. In Georgia

    • @Dturn77
      @Dturn77 8 дней назад +1

      I can help you with this. Are you sure you used 6.875 mwh? That’s a lot. Typical home usage for a medium sized 4 person home is about 1 mwh per month. At 6.875 mwh you would need about a 40k watt array. I would do about 100kwh of storage. And depending on how many amps you’re trying to draw 2 x 18kpv inverters should do the trick. I believe you can over panel them to 21kpv according to signature solar.

    • @Dturn77
      @Dturn77 8 дней назад

      And I would add more batteries as you can afford them. Hope this helps.

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  8 дней назад +1

      Wow that is a lot of power usage. If you can get more efficient appliances as that may be cheaper to start your system with. But if not that is about 230kwh a day you need. So that is a 46kw solar array. You can size up for cloudy day. Then probably in the 120-160kw range first battery storage. Probably 3 eg4 18kpv inverters depending on your max power usage at one time. So would be pretty significant cost wise but like I said maybe half of that system if you get improved appliances, hvac, water heater, etc might help lower your total system needs.
