    In my banishment workings, I use tumbleweeds (usually Salsola tragus) because we have an abundance of them in my desert, and I also think the nature of their 'moving on' is useful for banishing. For this reason, I only use tumbleweeds that have detached from the ground. I like to grind them and add them to castor oil.

      I have spent the last decade noticing that I haven't seen many tumbleweeds in that time, but they were a dime a dozen when I was younger. But I love this idea if I see any this summer.

    Annie, another helpful video. I just found something very witchy at my local library in a not so witchy place, the science books. It was a book on edible and medicinal plants of the Great Lakes. It is full of Native American lore on plants and their uses. Free books from the government, yay!

    So when you say "cedar" are you talking about true cedar, from the Latin Cedrus family, most of which do not grow in the N American continent, or the false cedars, most from the from the Latin Thuja family? Where do you source your cedar if you are using the Cedrus? Loved this video, we're all feeling at ends right now.

    • @Kira_Martel
      @Kira_Martel 2 года назад

      It doesn't look like our native Thuja to me, hers seems more 'needly' than 'scaly' if that makes sense. I'm guessing it might be an ornamental cedar of some kind that was planted for landscaping purposes. I know in Portland we have a lot of Atlas Cedar hanging around, which seem to do well despite not being native to this continent.

    ✨Baby’s witch question✨…I’m curious if anyone thinks it’s okay to add protective properties into it for the user? I just made a banishing/ward off satchel for a coworker. Plan to make one for myself this weekend. Our work environment has some toxic and bad energies. Plan to make this oil next and want to add some protection in for myself and a co-worker. Should I just make a whole separate oil for protection? After the banishing. Or is it okay to have the two properties in one, or mix the two oils once created separately.
    Any advice, tips/help is greatly appreciated! 💛

    Hi! I just had a quick question, I know it might sound a little silly but it boggled me a little bit. I understand why it's better to start it during the dark moon and that you mentioned it's best to wait until at least the following dark moon, or if possible until the full moon following. And I wanted to ask, why the full moon following and not a full second cycle til the next dark moon? ( I mean I'm sure it's fine to let it go two cycles or however long you need, that's not really what I'm asking, what I mean is, why the full moon and not the dark moon if you wouldn't mind explaining?)
    Also thank you for sharing the recipe, I really enjoy your videos and find them fascinating both in terms of information and aesthetic. :)

      From an herbalism standpoint, we usually say that 4-6 weeks is the preferred amount of time to let extracts (oils/tincutres/acetates alike) sit and do their thing, as it gives the base longer time to fully extract the properties from the herbs. One full cycle or cycle and a half is the same as this 4-6 weeks!
      There are probably many reasons why she/you may choose to extract these herbs specifically between two dark moons. My interpretation is that it's best to begin this oil on a dark moon in order to utilize the cleansing or fresh-beginning energies that the dark moon may provide. Waiting until at least the next dark moon could simply be be cause of the 4-6week extraction time, but from a spiritual standpoint this may be because it is enough time to cleanse during the waxing moon, attract positive energies (or to just strengthen the energies) at the full moon, and then utilizing the banishing energies of the waning cycle. This part is more personal I believe.

    • @gingeraiyle

      But this oil is not meant to be used medicinally (like applied on the skin etc), Annie is going to use it mostly for objects she brings into the house, as she said. So I don’t think extraction rules matter all that much here, you can infuse it for longer than 6 weeks…but also from one dark moon to the next is plenty of time to infuse an oil for magickal purposes. How potent it will be depends on how much energy you put into it. When I’m making an oil, I don’t just put the ingredients in and forget about it for a month - I work it. I add more energy every couple of days to help it “cook”…anyway that’s just my perspective on it 🙂
