I make my own patterns, I learned pattern making when I came to Italy and got my degree certificate in men and women pattern making, but i haven't made patterns in years. I should get back to making them 😅. 🤔 i have a vintage tredpaddle singer, a Bernina and 2 sergers and a new cheap machine for the fancy stichers.
Hi Giovanna! Thanks for stopping by! Pattern making seems sooo hard! I have trouble just understanding patterns and making alterations🤣 It sounds like you like sewing machines as much as I do! I am loving my Janome heavy duty lately- it can handle such a wide Range of projects! Have a great weekend! 🥰🥰
My least favorite part of garment sewing is putting PDF patterns together. I do it because I don’t want to pay the extra for printing. 😂
I have too many machines. 2 sergers, a coverstitch, a combined sewing/quilting/embroidery machine, another embroidery machine, and three more regular sewing machines.
I’m putting together a block in a sew along by Izzy at Dizzy Quilts and Sews. (She’s a spectacular teacher!) Then on to underwear for my daughter as part of her upcoming birthday present. She likes me to make thongs. 😂 Takes almost no fabric and is a great stash buster! Haha.
I’m with you on the putting pdfs together but I also don’t like fighting with the tissue on big four patterns to cut out the pieces I need…. Glad to see I’m not the only machine collector with a little bit of an obsession.🤣 I still don’t understand how people like wearing thongs, but they must be a great fun project to make!❤️thank you for stopping by ☺️
Is the top you are wearing, double brushed polly too? I have that same fabric that I bought in the discount bin in Len's Mills. I don’t know if you have them in the States, but they are basically a fabric buy-out/deadstock warehouse for the most part, and craft store. They don’t bother to write what their discount and ends fabrics are made from, that they throw all wadded up into a bin. So I don’t know what my fabric is, but it sure is soft.
Hi! The top I have on is made from a rib knit but that’s all I know- I got it from a fabric destash on Facebook- it is soft and does keep me warm- the cowl neck was a wonky neckline fix so it’s a bit too wide and I have to wear something underneath 😂 I don’t know if we have a lens mills- I’ve never seen one … thank you for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
I think tracing patterns is my least favorite job and I hate making adjustments. I wish there was standard sizing in the pattern world like in the rtw world so we at least had a starting point rather than having each pattern a new fitting challenge. I upgraded my Viking machine a couple of years ago because I wanted a thread cutter. I've kept my original Viking from the '90's and I upgraded to a Baby Lock serger. I wish I had my old Singer from the '60's. It had cams that changed the stitches.
I feel your pain! I guess that’s why we sometimes find a pattern that works and make a bunch of them! I don’t think I’ve ever used a Viking or a Baby lock, although I don’t remember what they used in school- those vintage singers really were workhorses! I follow the vintage sewing machine group on Facebook just to see them all- it’s a good thing I don’t have the space to collect those too🤣thanks for stopping by!❤️❤️
