Excellent work Joshua. Clear no hype delivery. Each topic so logically laid out. Great close-up work. I feel like I understand this unit so well now. Just 8:37 minutes of awesomeness, thank you!!
This is the definition of straight to the point my god even an index in the description?? I wish more people preferred these types of tutorials .... even 5 seconds of a branded intro are precious moments wasted for someone like me trying to catch up for lost time in education. yes sir. Thank u.
Honestly your video is way better than the tilta..I couldn't believe they won't have run stop cable for canon 5d Mark IV which is one of the popular among photographer.. it's really frustrating after spending 1500 bucks still won't do recording using one switch... Thanks for your reply
Joshua, this is absolutely a fantastic tutorial. I couldn't resist subscribing! Your delivery is so succinct and spot on - it brilliantly got me up & running on my Nano. Wish I'd seen your Nucleus M video when I was struggling to set that up! More videos please!!!!
great video Joshua! I watched several while trying to learn quickly about my new toy and yours covers the amount of detailed needed very clear demonstrations. thank you!
This is a fantastic video. Thanks so much for putting so much time and effort into it! I kind of want a version without music, and split all the different sections into separate videos on my phone so I can refer to them. :)
Solid review with the right types of detail and view on its position in the market, and loved your work around for the Ronin S too man. Really, really impressed with the informative, non-negative click bait attitude in your vid. Keep it up.
I don't own one of these yet but I saw in another video that you can increase the torque of the nano motor by simply using a higher voltage supply. USB defaults to 5V but it will go up to 14v apparently (according the manual). No idea what this does to the lifespan of the motor.
Great tutorial - really helped me a lot with the manual calibration set up! Is there a way to set A - B points on the wheel/motor, so that when you hit each point, it vibrates, or lets you know that you've hit each point? Thank you! :^)
Will single press on up/down buttons do one step adjustment? Or I can do adjustments with handle only? Why asking I need very precise focus for astrophoto.
Great video! What happens if the focus wheel on a mirrorless camera (Lumix LX-100) is very close to the camera body? Would the Tilta Nano motor somehow fit in that space?
Thanks for the video! I am not able to save changes on the bluetooth settings. The handwheel turns off after 5 seconds when I turn it on. Have you experienced this issue?
Excellent review, thank you! Good to see crossover functionality between the nano and M. Do you happen know if the Type II Focus handle with 570 battery can operate the nucleus M? I guess it would need a special cable as this handle isn't wireless, but it fits my handheld rig much better than the nucleus M left handle.
I have a Zhiyun-Tech Crane 2S Gimbal and a panasonic lumix g 25mm f / 1.7 asph lens and PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 45-150 MM F / 4-5.6 ASPH MEGA OIS Will it be compatible?
Great Video Man! I have one question which is not clear for me. The instruction manual said to set the lens for close distance and the knob as well but in that case the direction of the wheel is not good for me. As you said to set the lens to infinity give me the right direction. But I assume it is not the factory standard because infinity should be +9999 instead of +0000. What do you think?
Great video! I'm new to all this so it helped me understand the hardware. I have a question, would it work for zooming ring on the lens? I have a Sony a6000. I need to wirelessly control the zooming as the camera maybe mounted on the ceiling.
Can you clarify the whole section of mounting it in the ronin s and using the right screws and mods needed etc? Please and thanks . I have ronin s and plan to purchase the nano . I have already ordered the smallrig part that mounts to ronin s in your video that you drilled? Why is that needed ? Can’t I just mount the focus wheel knob anywhere ?
LEOPAZZO TV If you screw the Nano quick release mount directly into the Ronin with the included M4 screw like I show in the begining of that segment you that’s all you need I’d just recommend taping off the terminals just in case
Hi, great video very informative. Is it possible to control the speed of the Nucleus M Motor on the motor menu itself or via the Nano Wheel Controller menu? or is the speed of the Nucleus M Motor only configurable using the Nucleus Fiz Box? Is it possible to use the Nucleus M Motor with the Nano Wheel without the Fiz box at all?
The speed of the motor is only really affected by the speed of your rotation of the wheel. But the other thing that would affect the apparent speed is the length of the calibration. For example if a lens has a 360 degree throw the motor will have to spin many times to reach the complete range from min to max but another lens that has a 90deg throw or maybe like an iris control for example, the motor would only need to rotate once or so to reach the full range. There is no speed control in that sense it’s just whatever speed is necessary to reach the full length of the range of whatever lens is attached.
do you know how to increase the led brightness? I can't read any of the text on it, the screen is tiny and it is a pain lol I have here with me the ifocus kit from Gudsen Moza and comparing the two, the tilta seems nice but not having as much feature as the iFocus. both are under $300.
Is there a way to map the throw of a lens' focus range to a wider range of controller wheel motion on the Nano? I'm probably doing the manual calibration wrong (with lenses that don't have hard stops), but I find the focus moves waaaaay too fast over a tiny range of the controller wheel. Any suggestions?
Hey Joshua nice video and very clear explanation about the nano. I was curious would it work with the moza lite 2. It has a 5v mini USB port. Which mean I would need to buy a micro to mini USB cable right? Also would it work with the GyroVu D-Tap to Micro-USB Regulated Adapter Cable as I haven't seen Tilta release their micro usb to d tap yet. Thanks man.
Great review! Two questions: 1) The length of the motor looks kind of short considering 15mm LWS mounting which I suppose is 85mm from the optical center. Maybe I'm wrong, but the baseplate does seem to shorten this distance by some amount. Have you any comparison to a regular 15mm LWS height baseplate? I'm wondering if the motor is actually too short for a setup like this and would call for a top-mounting solution? 2) Does it come with a M6 Screw? The packing list always shows an M6 key, but not a screw? From what I saw the Tilta G2X has an Arri Rosette which is always M6. I'm thinking about combining a handgrip with it to get some sort of WCU-4-like hand unit.
Hey Andreas, yes the motor is quite short and the baseplate is definitely designed to shorten the distance to the motor, not sure of its offset from centre but it's definitely a shorter distance. Top mounting may be a good way to mount for some setups. As for screws, mine came with one m4, and one m6 screw. the m4 is for mounting to the ronin s, and the m6 is for mounting to the supplied Zhyun Crane clamp.
How does using it with manual lenses (with long focus throw) compare to focusing with AF lenses (with short focus throw)? I'm planning to replace my AF lenses with manual Zeisses and Samyangs (for easier focusing) but perhaps that won't be necessary and buying the Nano could "fix" my current glass.
Mateusz Pieniążek the throw shouldn’t really matter since the calibration maps the throw of everylens to the full scale of the hand unit. So every lens should require the same amount of movement of the hand wheel from minimum to infinity.
Hey Joshua, great review. Question for you; do you know if the motor can be powered from your camera? I'm shooting on the a7sii and wanted to know if I could use the micro USB on camera to power the unit or if I"ll need external power.
I was wondering the same thing. I pre-ordered mine and I'm wanting to mount it to a side-handle/grip. I can sort of see a screw on the quick-release plate. Does it come off the controller? :)@@joshuamacdonald8785
Joe Trimmer yes the screw comes out and can be replaced with a 1/4-20 to thread into any plate etc but at the time of the review, the only included hardware was metric. So you may have to track down a low profile 1/4-20 screw
OKay right I saw that in your video. So, what about the part attached to the hand unit itself? With the pins? Does that part come off too?@@joshuamacdonald8785
Is there a way to adjust the speed of preset A to B moves? Or does it always move from the preset A position to the B position at the same speed with no way to make it go faster or slower?
Nine Hundred Dollar Luxury Yacht the AB range function will go at whatever speed you turn the knob, so if you want to whip from a to b quickly you’ll have to spin the knob from one end to the other that fast.
This is how a tutorial should be done 👍🏻
This is a super tutorial and helped me get the nano working - the nano menus are so small, your excellent close up shots got me in there! Many thanks.
Excellent work Joshua. Clear no hype delivery. Each topic so logically laid out. Great close-up work. I feel like I understand this unit so well now. Just 8:37 minutes of awesomeness, thank you!!

Thank you! People's time is valuable love to get strait to the point!
This was extremely well done! Thanks! How in the world you only have 790 subs is beyond me....
Thankyou! Ha the curse of working full time in the film industry, but I’d love to do more of this in the future, thanks for the support!
jesus christ i heard this in his voice.
This is quality content. Please continue to make excellent videos. Not one minute of this felt like my time was being wasted.
The best review of the Tilta Nucleus-N Nano Wireless Follow Focus .
Your narrative and detail with the takes is really appreciated, man. Great job.
Great video, quality is far beyond what your subscriber number would suggest. Keep it up!
Honestly your video is way better than the tilta..I couldn't believe they won't have run stop cable for canon 5d Mark IV which is one of the popular among photographer.. it's really frustrating after spending 1500 bucks still won't do recording using one switch... Thanks for your reply
I appreciate the pace and detail of your video. It got me up and running quickly.
Holy moley, Thank you very much. Right AutoDetailer Studio, this is a tutorial.
Dude, great in-depth video. So much work went into this! Can't wait for mine to arrive.
You did such a GREAT JOB with this tutorial! Saved me a TON of time! I really appreciate it
Tilta G2x also has a 2.5mm "extend" port. Curious. Thanks for making an informative, no nonsense, no "in your face, totally extreme!" review.
great tutorial. helped us make our decision on which focus pull to use with the tilta rig :)
great review. no waffle & no overly excited nonsense. Thumbs Up
Fantastic in-depth video. Keep it up man! I can't wait to watch more videos like this.
So much better explained than Tilta does, very much appreciated. keep up the great work!

Excellent demo and tutorial. Agree that you need more subs, so I gave you one. Thanks for your time and effort.
Thank you Joshua, very clear and concise review!
great video Joshua! I watched several while trying to learn quickly about my new toy and yours covers the amount of detailed needed very clear demonstrations. thank you!
thanks for not shooting to my face HELLOW GUAIS, very ifnformative
Excelelent production!! Love the walk through and review. Everything was to the point and very precise clean and clear. Keep up the good work Sub'd
Awesome. I’ve been using the M on set for the last year and a half and the nano seems cool for small setups
This is a fantastic video. Thanks so much for putting so much time and effort into it! I kind of want a version without music, and split all the different sections into separate videos on my phone so I can refer to them. :)

I’m too self-conscious about my fingers to do a tutorial like this lol. Great one though!
I don't usually comment on videos, but this was AWESOME, keep the good work up bro 💪
Appreciate the in depth review and set up! Thanks man.
This was well done! You just earned a sub! Keep it up man.
Awesome tutorial! Super helpful and straight to the point - keep up the great work man!
I can't wait to receive mine! Thanks for the guide!
Thank you for such a great explanation video... the best one out there
I love my Nucleus-N Nano! Great Vid!
I am your 1000th subscriber.
This was really soothing.
Thanks for the info. Very in-depth!
Still waiting for my nano from BH... guess that factory in China is cranking them out asap!
U can also run the small motor at 12v having lot of torque
great explanation on how this works. thanks
I impressed your video. I solved my nucleaus nano setup
Great video, thanks for posting and sharing!!!
EXCELLENT. Your review, much appreciated!!

it supports 5-18v.
The motor can take up to 16 volts... I find having a 12v barrel to micro usb from my NPF or vmount plate gives me zero lag when focusing
You should make a video tutorial on how to make 1/4 " thread holes with the drill, I would watch that lol
Haha!
Great tutorial - really helped me a lot with the manual calibration set up!
Is there a way to set A - B points on the wheel/motor, so that when you hit each point, it vibrates, or lets you know that you've hit each point?
Thank you! :^)
Solid review man. Appreciate it!
Dug the music, great video demo, Thanks.
just received my production model 2 days ago. and it did NOT come with the dual charger. it did NOT come with USB to USB-micro cable. wtf Tilta
Carlo Timothy ikr! Wtf
Really well done and explained!!!
another problem to mention is that you hand held your camera with the focus wheel attached to your rig, the signal drop and the motor stop working
Will single press on up/down buttons do one step adjustment? Or I can do adjustments with handle only? Why asking I need very precise focus for astrophoto.
Enjoyed watching your video .. . .. 👌
Hello, love this , but a little suck
how do you set marks? Like an a to b mark. Even with a pen.
Great video! What happens if the focus wheel on a mirrorless camera (Lumix LX-100) is very close to the camera body? Would the Tilta Nano motor somehow fit in that space?
Great review. Thank you. I wonder how it will work with focus by wire lens like Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 for example.
Dima UA Good question, All I have are focus by wire Panasonic Lens’s.
If it has a manual focus ring yes
Which focal length lens was used to make this video.
Hi,
Is it possible to calibrate the torque of the motor M without the control M?
Thanks for the video! I am not able to save changes on the bluetooth settings. The handwheel turns off after 5 seconds when I turn it on. Have you experienced this issue?
I'm not sure if I missed it but what's the range? I need up to 300ft away from camera..

Great video! I'm new to all this so it helped me understand the hardware. I have a question, would it work for zooming ring on the lens? I have a Sony a6000. I need to wirelessly control the zooming as the camera maybe mounted on the ceiling.
if you buy the Nucleos M controler with zoom, with another nucleos N motor you could control both motors from one controler?
I like how your background isn't a bunch of purple fucking lights and your windows are not blown out
Hi, have you evere use the "Rec" button to start recording? I'm trying to do it, but even with Tilta's cable it just doesn't work on the GH5.
I cant get my Tilta nucleus m handle to connect to the nano, will you please help me.
Can you guide how do I use run stop cable for Canon 5D Mark IV?
awesome vid dude, subbed

Can the speed of the focus be affect by how fast you rotate the wheel?
Can I use two computers as an intermediaries? Is there a way to remotely control the follow focus motor? Or can this be controlled with a computer?
Hi....can you tell me the brand name and model of the battery bank...MisterDj1 from NYC
My friend I can’t connect the m motor whit the n fiz. I’m use the same channel and use the motor in the “motor 1 “ but don’t work. Help me.
nice review, was wondering does this have an A to B mode that can follow a certain amount of time it takes to rack to? Thanks

Please tell me why do I need this system if I already have ronin's motors for focusing? What difference?
can i use two motors with one hand controller? thanks
Do you have a tutorial on how to mount it to a rig?
Joshua do you think this Title Nucleus-N Nano is better option than the DJI Follow Focus for Ronin S and if you think yes why?
Great review!

Michael Ballif hey man no unfortunately it would not be able to be powered from the A7s directly. I’d rig some sort of usb battery pack
Does a newer version of this have USB type-c ?
Hi great explanations! Just wanted to know how far apart can the motor be with a focus puller handling the remote separately? Appreciate your help!
adrian wong I havent tested myself, but Tilta advertises 300’ line of sight. So likely around 100’ in most real world scenarios would be a safe guess
@@joshuamacdonald8785 great! thanks!
258 subs? Make that 259!
Great video, I have a question tho, i saw on the internet people talking about Arri rosette being included on the controller. Is that true or not?
