One of the courses at Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Training School is Rough Diamond Evaluation where students are taught to sort and evaluate rough diamond so a price for a rough diamond or a parcel of rough diamonds can be determined.

Hasn't AI replaced sorters and CNC lasers for cutting and faceting and polishing. Synova machines can do the above within hours instead of a couple of days.

Good Morning Roman, Yes there are machines available to do sorting into certain models, but this is for large production mainly used by mining companies. Once you have purchased from the tender or other dealers the manufacturer or dealer will do their own sorting. Colour can will also have to be done by another machine or using a colour master set. Using the machine is impractical will large amounts of diamonds as it takes time, whereby if you sort them by eye into similar colour categories it is much faster. Yes, the Synova Machine can facet a complete diamond with all its facets, but the question remains open is it practical for the manufacturer to do this as it becomes difficult for the polisher to line up the facets to polish the black carbon of the facets created through the lasering process. More practical to do is using the laser only for the blocking or crossing working, and have the brillianterring done by a Diamond Polisher
