I’ve had the exterior car door handle on my 06 Buick Rainier break 3 times over the course of 7 years. I took my car into the shop the first two times to get it fixed and they charged me 225 bucks both times to do it. The third time my handle broke, I was done shoveling out money to repair shops for clearly a very defective design of a handle. Thanks to your video I fixed my exterior door handle for 25 bucks and saved my self a lot of money. Took me only 30 minutes to complete too. Very helpful video even more than a decade down the road, thank you!!
Just watched your video and I accomplished the task in about half an hour. Thanks so much for the info. It saved me a bunch of money over what the dealer wanted.
1A Auto Parts This is indeed the same install information for the 2004-2007 Buick Rainier! Thanks for posting the video, watched it twice and it took me 20min. on a weekend off to swap my broken one out!
Thanks for this video, this actually put a hundred bucks in my pocket because of a check i received for an insurance claim due to some lowlifes trying to take my vehicle. I just had a hard time getting the rod into the tab because of my hands being large but if it wasn't for that, easy 30 minute job
excellent video. same as Buick rainier. just wish I had got my door handle from rock auto 12.48 vs. the 180.00 I spent at the dealer. u don't even have to get it painted just swap out the broken parts an use the old outside plate that surrounds the handle. took 30 min. total. thanks
My 10mm bolt is up under a metal frame that comes down!! I can't get at it from the inside hole on the door for the handle. Is there a swivel socket that might work? Do you know of this problem? thanks. OK I see you angling UP to get at that "first nut" - at 4:50 in the vid. Maybe since my handle is loose the bolt is somehow out of position? I'll try again but I can't see how I can angle to get at it. Maybe I just need a smaller 10mm socket? WOW I finally got a longer 10 mm on there and then a SWIVEL on it and then another extension and finally a racket wrench!! I'm so proud myself. My door handle was loose some the key would not turn a couple times - the automatic unlock works - but I took apart the actuator also - so hopefully it got back together again. hahaha. thanks. In case anyone has this issue of the inside door frame covering the 10 mm bolt to the handle - I used a 1/4 small extended socket that stuck out at a sharp angle. Then converted it to 3/8 and then used a 3/8 swivel socket. Then I extended that out that door frame hole as shown in the vid. THEN I attached the ratchet. Took me an hour or more to figure that out since I had to search out that small size swivel. thanks
