This looks really nice - I have the ‘Neo Geo: A Visual History’ book that is also done by Bitmap Books which is gorgeous and really well done and I’ve been thoroughly impressed by, so this definitely looks like a worthy purchase to me. Scarlet Sprites I don’t think you’ll be disappointed...It’s like an encyclopaedia for all things Neo Geo! Unfortunately for me it was out of stock at the time I wanted it on the Bitmap Books’ website so I ordered it from a different site and they basically just wrapped it in cardboard and posted it out like that so the corners were inevitably dinged when it arrived. ☹️ Things like that bother me!

Awesome book! I have a few collectible art books in my collection. They are a lot of fun to look through, and if you are an artist and need some inspiration, its a lot more convenient than the internet. My only trouble with art books like this is... they don't get much use. You kinda look at them a lot when you get them, and before you know it, it's been 4 years since you opened it up. Great collectors piece though.
I genuinely learned a few things and thought this was a nice timeline summary of the series, so from that aspect it’s almost like any other book that you would read. I hear what you’re saying though, this will likely end up as a coffee table book for me. Hopefully that means more people than just me will look through it.

Awesome indeed! I was able to get 2 of the Metal Slug fully loaded editions, the Neo Geo, NES/Famicom and SNES/Super Famicom visual compendiums. Bitmap Books does an excellent job piecing together the art and info for these consoles. Highly recommended! Great review also.

Scarlet Sprites The Neo Geo book was packed just as well as the Metal Slug book; however, it was curved slightly once unpacked. I’m not sure what caused it to bend slightly like that but it went away when I placed a stack of heavy books on it.

Do they translate the small Japanese texts to English that normally appear with designs, sketches, etc.? I really like knowing what is going through the artist's minds with those written texts.
The pics are all captioned but I can’t say that they’re always a complete translation. Like you are mentioning though, it’s enough to tell you what you are looking at and give some reference.
It looks really nice . You can tell a lot of work and care was put into this whole package .That poster looks neat. The art work in the book looks fantastic . One of the first Games my wife and I played together was the first metal slug (it was on some PS2 compilation). Your hair looks crazier than usual. I don’t know why I said that. I had been avoiding getting it cut because I didn’t trust anyone else to do it, as though she might magically reappear if I waited it out. When I still had hair ( I haven’t got a haircut since my wedding) it was always a pretty rare occurrence to find somebody who actually could cut my hair the way I actually wanted it. It didn’t help matters that I spent the first 10 years of my adult life in the Air Force. This is why I wear a hat in every video Heck yeah that book looks awesome !
So does this book finally explain more about the original Metal Slug Prototypes? IIRC, there were a couple magazine scans of this early version, though i doubt those low-res scans would be in this art-book Either way, it would be neat if someone got their hands on that Prototype Cartridge. We know it exists, somewhere...

I think we all want a new MS game and apparently it is coming. Fingers crossed on how good it will be. I’ve not yet played the new SS but I have it preordered for Switch. While not amazing, I didn’t think Heroines was too terrible.
Love Metal Slug and the quality looks amazing but why do they have to release this durring the holiday season when my wallet is already crying. Hopefully this isn't going to be printed and produced for a limited time.
Their Neo Geo book is getting more copies printed and that was first offered some time ago, so I suspect this will be the same. You should ask for it as a holiday present!

But my friends told me that the total cost (the price, shipment cost, tax) could be easily double os triple the original price. So this 40 pounds book could be costing me 100 pounds :( Why they don't sell them here
