I think in most cases a carpet in front of the room is good enough. A thin carpet only treats the highest freq. I diy 4" acoustic panels, rockfoon 2" with 2" gap behind, in first reflections, back and front. Made a ton of difference and my receiver seems to have taken care of what was left. If your buildind ht, just dont overthink everything. Speaker placement is VERY important, out from wall, try different loc. Go for two subs, I have mine front & back, 1/3 and 1/4 room with from sidewalls.

A high density carpet gives you the best absorption (Shaw carpet) and do a thick pad underneath.
The problem as i see it is so many are putting gear in high ceiling rooms that are inherently reverberant and unpleasant to be. Calls for a significant amount of absorption on the walls and ceiling.

A common approach that works in most spaces is "live end, dead end." That means that the front stage is absorbed to a certain degree, while the surround (or rear of the space) is left untreated, or uses diffusor panels. The idea is to maximize dialogue intelligibility and music, while opening up the surround field. Give us a call! Acoustic panels are works of art from the right sources!

I live in a small wood house with wood subfloor girdders and hardwood floors. And my dual 12-inch subwoofers shake the entire house. In fact ONE 10-inch subwoofer is enough. So right now I am looking for surrounds with a more balanced sound. The problem with a wood house is that the subs vibrate and rattle the house so much that you can only raise the volume so much. So a 10-inch sub is enough.
What I use more often is my Klipsch Cinema 600 soundbar which sounds great for everyday listening. I only use my 7.2 surround system for watching movies or concerts or listening to music. But for watching everyday TV I like my Klipsch soundbar because you can lower the volume where it will not wake everyone up and with the remote you can tweak the volume levels anyway you want on the fly. So these new sound bars have become my primary form of audio. They are so convenient and provide great everyday audio.

You should call us. SVS makes an excellent isolation kit that all but eliminates that interaction.

You need to cover any but not all hard flat surface with soft ( squishy ) material. Very simple :)
