People might think that his shop is cheap and messy as well as complain about his lack of high tech equipment. Yet many legendary Swiss independent watchmakers create their masterpieces in such dusty and messy shops with old fashioned equipment.
You're insane, some handmade Swiss watch studios do use old fashioned equipments but they always use gloves/latex sheaths and the studios are free of dirt / dust and contaminants. You're comparing Swiss artisans to this atankwadi?
I visited this shop on 20th march 2022 and meet this person he is very polite and nice but his charges for servicing the mechanical watch is very high he won't even service the watch he just change the entire machine of same make and model and keep original machine with himself. He asked me Rs9000 for my Roamer Popular, Seiko Automatic and WestEnd prima. So I decided to to get Roamer repaired after negotiation in rs.2500 from him.. Interesting part is that after coming back to my hometown in Khanna punjab I checked with local watch shops and got my west end and Seiko repaired in just Rs500. So don't go with the popularity person can be nice but not customer friendly...

Looking at the comments I don't think people realize that most Frankenwatches (watches put together from parts of other watches) come from India. It is the exact opposite of what watchmaking is about, all originality is lost in that watch, parts that might be mended are discarded an replaced quickly with others. If you are a watch aficionado you know what I am talking about.
Ohh I exactly know what you are talking about. Some years ago I bought a Titoni and one Hilton from him. The tinoni had a broken rotor axle(thus making the auto winding useless), a crown which wasn't original and a repaint dial which wasn't mentioned. About the Hilton, only the dial was Hilton, the case and the caseback was HMT and the movement is a cheap Chinese one. I wish I was wiser then. I could be wrong but I feel most of his Enicar / Henry Sandoz / Fevre Leuba watches are exactly like that, franken.
It is true, most of the vintages in India are franken-watches and a majority come with repainted dials. Case, crown, caseback and dial swaps are so common, not to mention the movement parts. However, if you are a beginner in vintage watch collection, these cheap watches can be a perfect gateway and a learning experience. Moreover, I got a few watches from him which I absolutely love despite knowing they are not 100% original in parts assembly. But whatever the case many be, still better than the idiotic fashion watches so popular in the market.

#Mr. Aksheay Chopra, sometimes people get expensive watches as a gift from relatives, friends or they may have inherited the expensive watch. Due to lack of care when they take it to the repair shop for service, obviously based on watch brand service charges will be different depends upon the problem. All watches have different mechanism. A reputed mechanic will always be more expensive than a neiborhood mechanic.

I wanted the centre second wheel and centre wheel+ hour wheel of fhf 67-8, but I've recently found one in eBay and bought a non working movement for spares. As you may know, for FHF 67-8, it's a day date winding movement that has lengthier centre second wheel pinine and long post centre wheel and hour wheel which was difficult to get :). Fortunately I got one after a lot of tries. :)

I visited several watch stores to confirm whether its genuine or not and all of them including 30-40years experienced watch mechanics and owners told me that its fake and machine is put in fake watch case. So I told an shopkeeper to open the backcase and he did that and internals were franken even two screw's were missing and movement is chinese.I returned the product to the shop were I baught and told him to refund and he told me he will fix the issues and needs two days I told him to open backcase and he and I saw the internals everything had scratches even the gears were fake he still argued me that its new orginal and he wasn't ready to refund, I told him clearly that I will give receipt and needed money. He gaved me 1800rs and I lost 200 rupees still he argued that he had loss. This is how many unethical people do business so Always buy genuine products from official company website, for example: buy HMT watches from hmtofficial website,Titan watches from Titan official website, Samsung phones from online Samsung store, the benefit is that you will get orginal product directly from company along with orginal accessories,orginal box, orginal warranty card. If you buy HMT watches from hmtofficial website then will get orginal box, guarantee card , maybe manual and the orginal first hand watch. In fact, I usually give him a little extra, so he can continue working his magic for many years.
Just as TheCham710 mentioned, you can start with Seiko. I would say that if you want a mechanical watch, you should look for the Seiko 5 series. You can find great quality at a very affordable price (normally starting at USD60-70). And when I refer to great quality I am talking about a very robust watch that can easily last decades if taken care appropriately. But if I were you, I would not stop with Seiko, since the other 3 big Japanese brands can compete with Seiko in terms of quality, durability, design and price: Orient, Citizen and Casio. If you want to see mechanical Orient watches, you can explore the Orient Tristar series (not the "Orient Star" as this is the most expensive and best watch they have). They should also be around USD 70. If you want to spend a little more, take a look at the gorgeous Orient Bambino series. Absolutely fantastic watches!!! (you can find them from USD 125-130). On Citizen, the NH series is absolutely a must-see. And in Casio, take a look at their prestigious G-Shock (quartz, almost indestructible), the Edifice series or the legendary "Duro" (a VERY robust quartz watch for scuba divers that costs around USD 45-50). Other than that, you can also take a look at some Swatch watches (affordable Swiss watches, with very good quality in general terms), and of course, Timex (another legendary brand with very robust quartz watches, starting at around USD 40).

start with Seiko my friend
Just as TheCham710 mentioned, you can start with Seiko. I would say that if you want a mechanical watch, you should look for the Seiko 5 series. You can find great quality at a very affordable price (normally starting at USD60-70). And when I refer to great quality I am talking about a very robust watch that can easily last decades if taken care appropriately.
But if I were you, I would not stop with Seiko, since the other 3 big Japanese brands can compete with Seiko in terms of quality, durability, design and price: Orient, Citizen and Casio.
If you want to see mechanical Orient watches, you can explore the Orient Tristar series (not the "Orient Star" as this is the most expensive and best watch they have). They should also be around USD 70. If you want to spend a little more, take a look at the gorgeous Orient Bambino series. Absolutely fantastic watches!!! (you can find them from USD 125-130).
On Citizen, the NH series is absolutely a must-see. And in Casio, take a look at their prestigious G-Shock (quartz, almost indestructible), the Edifice series or the legendary "Duro" (a VERY robust quartz watch for scuba divers that costs around USD 45-50).
Other than that, you can also take a look at some Swatch watches (affordable Swiss watches, with very good quality in general terms), and of course, Timex (another legendary brand with very robust quartz watches, starting at around USD 40).
