- Kai Sotto vs Zach Edey Who’s Better? In this video I breakdown Kai Sotto vs Zach Edey who are two amazing up and coming Centers. Kai Sotto is a 7'3 Center from the Philippines who currently plays in the NBL and Zach Edey is a 7'4 Center from Canada who currently plays for Purdue University. While both of these players play the same position they are totally different from each other. Zach Edey is a back to the basket player who likes to use his size, and footwork to his advantage. While Kai Sotto is big, and is learning how to use his size. Both players are able to play Center at an NBA level in my opinion. However, Zach Edey wins the low post battle, while Kai Sotto wins the perimeter game and speed side of the game. zach edey's game is good but only his peers can fight him, while kai has limited time but he also played well and he's already a pro and ex nba player centers are still honest so it's a bit difficult
Sotto was able to show his post plays back in tsf because he is competing with same ages as him. Its hard to compare these two today because Sotto is now banging against grown men in nbl where he rarely get touches under the rim.

Both are talented, but they are playing in a different level, so we can't really tell for now. Maybe it's just me or sue to limited minutes but since I've seen what Kai can do all these years, I kinda miss his big tricks

As for size and weight, I would have to disagree. Kai had a bulky 7'4 team mate during his time with TSF. They obviously have played against each other during training. He also held his own against Marjanovic before his NBL stint. Right now, he's being honed against the most physical league. He'll do just fine against Edey.

1v1, obviously kai all night. Zach has no ability to guard kai. Kai can pull up jumper or drive strong to the basket while Zach is just a pure post up player which Kai can time him.
so you have to ask yourself a simple question - in what multiverse will any nba coach make either of these players the center of their offensive scheme (to be able to be matched up 1 on 1 all night long)? yup, that's what i thought...

1 year later. Edey dominated Division 1 NCAA and become the 1st Canadian to win MVP. Also is going to represent Team Canada in FIBA World Cup 2023 in Asia. While Sotto remain stagnant and a lot of ? around him. Edey is projected to go 2nd round in the draft but opted out to improve his game and try to be in 1st round in next year draft.

One developed his game in College (US NCAA) for 4 years, the other did not and went straight to a pro team with ball hoggers.
One got drafted 9th overall, the other undrafted.

you have think kai is one of the 7 footers that has fast time when jumping I've seen big guys jumped when blocking or rebounding but their evelation time is slow. Thats why kai is very dangerous not just with timing. zach is very slow and a one dimensional player

Kai at 19yrs old playing against professional NBL that is strong players as pro. If he plays against collegegiate he will score 20 pts everytime for sure. Nice coach for the review. 👍😊

Kai Sotto is playing against nba ready players. In my opinion Kai has the edge over Zach Edey. Zach plays against players of his age. No offense men, It's not even as what you've said kai played as pro cmmon men.
