I have owned one bmw, and what you said was spot on. After about a year it just bored me. I now own two ducatis - never ever boring. Have had my oldest ducati for 4 years, still enjoy every minute on it. (I reread this after posting it and had to add this. Yes, I enjoy every minute I ride the bike, but that doesn't mention the every-now-and-then when I still get off the bike just ecstatic. It can still absolutely thrill me after 4 years)

People equate a fast bike with being exciting and with the s1000rr, that just isn't the case. They also think I'm saying it is a bad bike, I'm not, it's phenomenal, it's just boring to me.

@Track-Day-Rider-DJT24 so everyone seems to think about the msrp as new, this isn't new its a 2020 with 12k miles. So $16k is about what it's worth.

I changed out the stock suspension for Ohlins front and rear. That took care of the vague feel in the chassis and brakes. Replace the throttle with Alpha racing throttle that help with the throttle feel. Now it feels great!

The V4 has to be the best looking bike. For me I couldn't see owning one as an only bike, it'd be a nice 2nd or 3rd bike to have. I got a 22 S1000r for daily, I'm looking at a tenere 700 for longer distance and backcountry but I'd love to have a V4 for very short after dinner blasts.

If you like the HP4 Race, you really should try the 2015/2016 S1000RR. That was the starting point for the HP4.
The 2017-2019 S1000RRs are almost as good as the 15/16, and the 2020+ are a very different animal. The shift cam stuff makes the 2020+ very docile on the street at low RPMs, but it turns into a wheelie monster at high revs. Personally, I prefer the lopey idle and smoother power band of the earlier bikes, but I'm not giving up my 2022 any time soon!

Really just talking about motorcycles. You might as well compare any bike to see if there's a $30k difference......and there is.
I own a 22 M1K and a 23 SP2 and the price is about a $10k difference and you can feel the difference.
That S1K is vastly outmatched in every way except comfort in my opinion and that's as a owner of more comparable two.
The V4R is definitely superior, how much superior, well that's for each individual to valuate that. For me it's the best looking bike, most powerful, best sounding w the R1, the riding dynamics are sharp as a razor and parts are top shelf and also perform as so.

Who in their right mind that's not a millionaire would spend $45,000 on a motorbike. I don't care how pretty or good it is that's just madness. I bought my S1k m package new in 2021 - cost me €25,000 (Ireland) - now they are over €30,000 and even that price puts me off upgrading to the new S1000RR. I would never consider buying any used sports bike either - just would not feel comfortable on it not really knowing what scrapes it got into in its previous life. The best solution is to have a few bikes - I have 5 including a 2022 Panigale V2 bayliss so depending on my mood I have a bike to suit all occasions. But if I had to sell all my bikes except one it would be the S1000 I would keep.

So for track: the S1k all day long. For the sheer viceral experience however.... nothing beats an Italian V4. A Ducati in this case. (I own an Aprilia Tuono V4 myself).

Not a v4s though (V4R), I can see your point though. The v4r on track is very different from the v4s and it is very much a blistering monster but it is so much more calm out of corners! I dig both. But the Ducati just gives you that little extra special.
