Years of research and development have gone into this course.
If you have been messing around with your piano playing on RUclips or online platforms with no structure. Then you really need to get on board!
Quite simply, this course is the main blueprint for all of my teaching methodologies for over the last 15 years that form the backbone behind the London Contemporary School of Piano.
Whilst I've run this course a few times in the past, this course is undertaking a massive upgrade of materials with a new broadcast production quality. I will be collaborating with videographers and a team to put together the best possible version of my work yet to be seen.
We are offering a special one-off promotion with this course, including a FREE one-to-one piano coaching session with our team to go alongside this course, which can be taken virtually or in person. This is valued at an additional £165 (for no cost at all). This benefit is only available for the next 10 days.
This is a rare offer because our team are industry leaders in modern music education, and we are a small but very passionate team of teachers who love to solve our students' challenges, we are often oversubscribed!
Most adult piano students who learn online, have absolutely no structure to their learning. This course comes with lifetime access and will give you the structure that is missing from your practice. Say Goodbye to the endless browsing of piano videos on RUclips. Now it's time to take control of your piano playing and start achieving those larger goals!

Milton, Ontario, Canada….watching you do this makes it look so easy, but what “we” need is a detailed, step by step instructional learning progression to follow, where I can follow your instructions and actually know that I’m moving in the right direction instead of guessing what I should progressively follow. Thank you so much, Stephen

yes I agree, it's so important to have detailed instructions, these things can't quite be conveyed without a well-designed program to back it up.
If the chords moved too fast for you, in these examples, that would suggest to me, some very serious reconsideration of your chord practice is needed to pick up these triads. Most people are not studying chords or practicing them very effectively, yet chords are the lowest-hanging fruit in the array of piano challenges! So this would be the first elevation you should be making.
That's precisely what we do on the Complete Musician Course. There isn't a great deal of structure on a RUclips algorithm, which is why people who are more serious about their learning tend to be students who join our courses.
The fee is the tiniest fraction of a University Course, and has comprehensive support, yet covers such a wealth of material, that would compare to such education, and in many cases even surpass it. The 4 Pillars for instance.. Chords / Rhythm and Groove /Improvisation Melody / Arrangement and Integration. These are the pillars for the 21st-century piano student who wants to play lots of different music. You can't expect to master piano from a RUclips algorithm, as amazing as this resource is, Information on our program is here: lcsp.samcart.com/products/the-complete-musician-essential-course-2024/
Be sure to contact us as well at tom@contemporaryschoolofpiano.com if you'd like to take advantage of our early bird support package, with so many extra free facilities to ensure you are following through and improving.

This is Ydalir! (Martin) from Germany. Thanks (again) for this eye opener. At 22:20 I want to focus on what you do with your left hand. As usual off handed and rarely commented: The fourth occurrence of the D you support on the left hand by going DOWN instead of up again. A lot of what you do with the left hand goes casually uncommented but I find it most vital supporting a progression so to say counter clockwise on the left hand. It makes the progression sound more lively. If the left hand would follow the progression on the point it would sound dull. A thing that appeared to me all the times I followed your lessons. Adding an embellishment to the actual cord makes it sound great. I was always wondering why the progressions from the lead sheets dulled after a while, now I understand why.

    • @contemporaryschoolofpiano
      @contemporaryschoolofpiano  4 месяца назад +1

Hi Martin, this left hand is an Alberti Bass. It's a very common left-hand pattern in classical music. You are right that It is not spoken about that much, though classical musicians would know about it.
Here it is in its most simple format C major = C G E G (it repeats for the duration of the chord.
Groove and Patterns reflect a musical culture this is a very common classical pattern.
In the case of the other chords, I am applying the Alberti bass to other chords that are in other inversions. Why do we use inversions, that saves us from jumping unmusically around different chords, so using these left-hand inversions but still applying the Alberti bass combination is a very good composition tool.
The reason why this is not spoken about often is most classical pianists just follow the notes the composer wrote down and don't think about these things. A skilled classical player would have a good intuitive feel for the shape of the chord. It's about telling your fingers and muscle memory these shapes and avoiding too much hyper-intellectualization of it - because our fingers speak a different language and our fingers are ultimately performing on the notes.
In the simplest terms, this is
Alberti Bass Pattern combined with chords and inversions of chords!
A good way to study this is to pick up a Mozart score with an Alberti bass and look at the left hand.

I watched your Elton John seminar last night and thought it both informative and entertaining, your instruction is very open and easy to understand and questions are readily answered. I have already enrolled on the groove sessions and find them great fun practising all the rhythms and applying them to different compositions…reggae Beethoven anyone? That in my opinion is what music is all about, playing it your way to your taste,to the best of your current ability, the art of improvisation . I’m sure we all get short of time and need to summon the effort but I go through one of your videos and I just feel like playing, your tutorials are inspirational. Thank you Tom.

I'm signed up for the course starting in June, and I'm doing some 'pre' work at the moment, watching a lot of your videos, and working on 'groove' and so forth. I have to do this so that I don't get over-excited about the course and allow my brain to start jabbering. I have to keep the monkey mind under control!

For reasons best known to youtube, I can't see any chat! Not in safari nor chrome. Maybe something to do with livestream and not catching it live? Anyway, I'm signing up with the link in the video description, hopefully that's the same as was posted in the chat?
