  • Do you believe that there is no better place to live for anyone, of any race, than America? Is America the most exceptional, freest nation to ever exist, or is it an oppressive, systemically racist country? In honor of the USA's birthday, Will Witt asks people on Santa Monica Pier if they're proud to be American, and what they feel when they see the American flag.

I think they were afraid because we now know they lied and gaslit us about Joe being incompetent on Day 1 of his presidency.
I'm surprised DC was not surrounded by hundreds of thousands of people with torches and pitchforks, come to remove the traitors who have conned us.
      Where is the outrage?

My paternal grandfather was the first child born after my great grandfather returned from the Civil War. We had relatives that fought on both sides.
We also had relatives who were civilians, murdered by Union soldiers: a boy of 13 and an old great grandfather.
My American grandfather raised cattle & horses in New Mexico.
My Sicilian grandmother's father was murdered by bandits in Sicily - beaten to death in his fields.
My emigrant grandparents arrived here legally & became citizens as soon as possible. They married in 1914 in Chicago. Proud to be Americans.
My great aunt in Sicily thought, like many other Italians, that they would become Americans after WW2: their thinking due to the tradition of war and conquest: those who "won" the war became the new owners of the land.
I am very proud and grateful to be an American.
I am not always in agreement with the leadership of this nation.
However, I think most Americans are good, peace loving law abiding people.
I support our Constitution and want our Republic to thrive.
I am distressed about the open border.
I'm 72 and remember when Southern California was a safe, prosperous, healthy place to live, work, and raise a family.

When I was 8 years old and living in Venezuela( Venezuelan Born) I was with Dad and Mom doing some shopping in the street of a little town named Junquito, in 1973. we were next to kiosk, I was looking at a Quatro Rodas( Brazilian Magazine) and they showed pictures with the lunar landing with a lunar rover vehicle, and one section of the vehicle had a US flag.
me being 8 year old I asked my Dad what was that flag, and he(Venezuelan citizen) told me " Mijo that flag is from the most important country in the world. I need for you to always remember that, you need to learn everything about The US as much you need to know about Venezuela Patriots symbols" Remember all this conversation was in Spanish.
10 years later I came to the US as student, few years later then I got married, my wife was an American citizen( pass away in 2017), by the way I though her about US history and Politics some that she didn't knew. then in 2019 I became US citizen. it was a very joyful moment
Back In 1989 I expend 1 year in back Venezuela, I've worked as a substitute teacher for first grade and high school students. At that moment I did notice the influence of leftist brainwashing the young generation more than before. A mob of student boys and girls were upset with me and a 9 year old American girl(she was my student) because we spoke English, Venezuela is a country that people emigrated from different parts of the world(some speaking Arabic, Portuguese, Italians, etc) . They wanted to attack her , I got in between then. I educated them about being civic (in a country that have compulsory civic education) at that moment I still had student visa for the US.
when I came back to the US, at the end of 1989. I've arrived with a sinking feeling that things were not right in Venezuela.
The same sinking feeling I had during the elections for 2020, like if the world was upside down with wokeness. genderconfused people, some old and young people brainwashed to leftist ideals , Biden and whitehouse NOT respecting the American citizen, NOT respecting American Constitution and laws, and NOT respecting the American Values

Be proud of your efforts and accomplishments. Be ashamed of your lack of effort or bad attitude.
Having said that, I feel blessed to have been born in America. It rewards hard work and tenacity.
