    I have never been a fan of these types of mid boosting circuits. Maybe I just haven't tried the right one?!

    When you talk about hitting the front end of the amp with more output to get that nice compression I love that. I use an old DOD Bi-Fet Pre Amp, and it sounds so good in this application.

    Nice work. I got one as well, and it sounds great. I was fortunate enough to play through the real thing on a friend's rig, and it's really tight. Now I have two good clones, the Centavo and the Tumnus. This is a great alternative to someone who can't afford or (like me) doesn't want to spend the overhyped money on one from the 90's. Good video. Love the Les Paul. I'm an Gibson guy myself, so I hope to have found a kindred spirit. Nice job.

    I played a jazz/blues gig with a borrowed amp - '67 BF Super Reverb - and stuck a Rocket Archer (silver) in front of the amp with the gain around 10-11 o'clock: best edge of breakup tone I've ever had with that strat. I was sold after that.

  • @gregdunn6040

    I use mine in conjunction with a TS808, the Centavo just to warm up the amp and keep me on the edge of breakup and the 808 to push me into more driven sounds. I like amp distortions not pedal sounds so hitting the preamp tubes a little harder with the master volume up cooking the power tubes.
    The Centavo pushes a cleaned up Marshall nicely.
    I run Les Pauls with lower output PAF clones.

    The tonality of the Centavo doesn’t really work for me as an overdrive in my current setup, but I do use it as a ‘clean’ boost at the end of my pedal chain to polish off my delay and reverb sounds, with improved results. Definitely something to hold on to. ❤️

    Thanks for this video Steve. My only Klon experience is the Minotaur in Helix. I’ve never heard of a Klon before I started watching Helix videos. I always try to put it in my patches because I’ve heard so much about it, but maybe it’s just not for me 😂

    Very nice demo, you use a Warm audio WA273 EQ but this unit is a preamp and the Captor X is also a preamp so 2 preamps ? are you able to bypass the the preamp section of the WA and use it just as EQ ? I guess you go to an interface after the WA copmpressor ? very interesting video about what you can do after the Captor X which is a great tool but not as good as a real speaker, thanks

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  Год назад

      Hey COX. I don't consider the captor x as a mic pre amp. It is only an XLR out. There are a lot of outboard options in the software but I prefer the mic preamp

    While I do like this pedal, and what it does to the amp, I have to say that I like Josh's, and Brian's (Tumnus), pedal just a bit more. It's probably because I like smaller pedals on my board.

      Tumnus does sound really good! So does Sugar Drive from MXR. I was going to get that after I grabbed the MXR Timmy and absolutely loved it, but after I heard about the Centavo I knew I was going to get it instead. I love Warm Audio, they make incredible gear at great prices, and I have their clone of the Foxx Tone Machine, the Foxy Tone Box, and I absolutely love that pedal. But Tumnus sounds really good and has a unique character to the gain structure, I really enjoy that and might grab it eventually
