Yes with the exception possibly of 1987 worlds , I feel her best skates were pre 1985 . At least she went for more , flips and loops and the spread eagle 3S was a nice combo . 1988 O were such a let down
@@davidbrody8713 her 85 free programme was also one of her best. 4 triples done at the end of a year she later said she absolutely did not want to be compete in after winning the Olympics. She had wanted to skate in shows like the US champions that turned pro
@@victoriagill3337 1985 didn’t do it for me . She skated very well but still only 3 T and 3 Sal . Did I miss a 3 F or 3 L. The 3 L in 1987 was a nice change and return to more gutsy performance . And she did it very well .
@@davidbrody8713 INTERESTING perspective 1987 was a good year for her 1986 wasnt her best year was 1983 she skated very well and had good technical difficulty
Apparently she was pressing her thumb into Witt’s knee so hard it really hurt her, whilst demanding through clenched teeth what kind of crap she had just skated 😕
@@victoriagill3337 Poetzsch always screwed up, and did bigtime when she lost 77 and 79 worlds to Fratianne, and did the short program at the 80 Olympics where she got lucky to be held up, and short and long program both at the 80 worlds which she only won since she had her most dominant figures ever. Yet Mueller never seemed upset with her. Maybe she expected Poetzsch to make a bunch of mistakes but Witt never?
She actually looks tomboyish here in her early years. She's like what -- 13 or 14 here? Within a year or so she would learn to flirt with judges and the audience as part of her performance. No other skater in the history of the sport would use flirting as a weapon.
Yeah such a shame it was basically downhill technically from 84 on. 1987 W at least had the loop and gave the illusion she could still pull off more than a 3 T or 3 S. The 3 flip from 83 also gone by 84.
This is when she began to lose her jumps while struggling to establish herself as an artist... I suppose she hit the bottom in 1983, but I am so glad that she had such a successful career after that, finding an identity as an artist. By the way, the 7-judge panel was RIDICULOUS at this level...
floskate, don't you think this was overmarked? So many mistakes, not even great presentation. I am surprised she came from behind to pass Kristofics Binder and others for the silver. Overscored and overrewarded for a bad skate. You are right the gold was there for her even with Zayak's great skate, especialy seeing the judges hold this garbage up for silver, they were obviously high on her and dying to reward her the gold.
Kati wird für immer die Beste bleiben!❤
Beautiful and graceful women.
The fact that she fought back the way that she did after the flaws in the middle is just great.... very inspirational in so many ways....
Great music selections.
also, thanks for sharing. the quality is outstanding.
what a great quality for a 27 years old video!
Her jumps were so powerful during her early years!

The 3S from the spread eagle would have been spectacular if she’d managed to pull it off. Only ever seen a 2A done from one in this era
Как она прыгала! Никогда у неё нога не закручивалась.
pretty costume
lol that costume was god awful! interesting view
After Zayak's fall in the short programme, the road to the gold was wide open for Katarina but ....
Jutte could not hide her disappointment.

Great attack.
her take off to the salchow is just unique.! The only woman can do ;-) still a good performance

The triple flip (performed here) would totally disappear from her arsenal by the 84 Olympics.

Talk about telegraphing the 3F jump.

She didn't have the rotation speed and power of Zayak.

Figure skating back in the early 1980's was bad.
