Always loved your show, Ms Bish! What a joy indeed to see these grand cathedrals you tour, with their stately (and utterly magnificent) organs. So powerful, transcendent ...
Michael M Most of the donations are from private individuals and companies. They can spend their money as they see fit. And no, I'm not French nor Catholic nor Christian.
Lovely as usual, Ms Bish So sad about Notre Dame cathedral ... tribute also for the fire fighters of Paris And give thanks ... There were NO CASUALTIES
No cusualties because thanks to a fire detector, the alarm was raised and the building evacuated 20 minutes before the fire was reaaly acknowleged. The guys checking it didn't find it in time. Thnakfully the organ is dirty but overwise safe.
Very beautiful indeed! Thank you, for the play. I love your music, i used to watch your program on TV, until it just disappeared . Good to see that your still around playing these wonderful organs around the world.
I like how on the first verse of ode to joy you showed that notre dame's organ is big and power full but on the second verse you showed the organ can also be soft and gentle
We need art in order to live. Otherwise, we merely exist. So the world needs this building. But it is also true that people need homes, food, education, health care. We can have all if we want. And that is before we think about the jobs the restoration will create. Moreover, if they wanted, the restoration project can become a classroom where people can learn skills that will lead to employment. The range of opportunities is astonishing and the world is full of old buildings needing the attention of skilled, experienced people. In this way, the church which is a building will be restored and refurbished even as the Church which is the community will be uplifted. I think about the organ. It is a living thing, a machine guided by gifted hands to breathe glorious music which elevates and unites all who will hear. New pipes will join old to breathe new life into old stones and broken hearts. Money well-spent. Ode to Joy. Indeed.
I pray that the Cathedral will be restored someday and it will continue to be a place of worship for Millions of us Christians... I hope to visit when the Cathedral is back to it's beauty and maybe I will have the Honor to play the Organ to the Glory of GOD. Blessings to all. I have Cancer but I am trusting the Lord will allow me to have this Honor before He calls me. Lance ( organpipe8 ) † ♫♪♫

Ahhh beautiful. Beethoven, Diane and Notre Dame make a beautiful tribute to the tragedy. Ode to Joy indeed. This is an amazing building and must be rebuilt. :) And the ending was delightful with the Bach Prelude no.1 from his Well-Tempered Clavier book no. 1. Amazing. Xx
Very remarkable is, that Diane Bish's house burned down in 2002, included an expensive digital organ and a grand piano with sentimental value. So Mrs. Bish knows proper, what the damage of the organ signifies to many people.
@@jm08050 Thats not correct. Even if the organ was not directly affected by the flames or the water the whole organ must be disassembled and cleaned from all the soot and dust. Thats an incredible effort.
How very timely; denomination notwithstanding, I think it’s fair to consider ND along with St. Peter’s as one of the world’s greatest houses of worship. Prayers seemingly were quickly heard and responded to by the generous pledges to rebuild.
I didn't know her TV program was still around since it disappeared from local stations some years ago. Apparently, it is still shown on EWTN at 6:30 a.m. one day per week. Not the best of timing, to be sure.
Some people have said that this money could have been spent on schools and hospitals. I am reminded of the story of the anointing of Jesus by a woman. His disciples complain that the ointment could have been sold and the money used to help the poor. Jesus says that you will always have the poor but you won't always have Him.
It will be restored. God is faithful, what was meant for evil, He is turning it around for good, people are coming together United to help restore. Praise Him. It broke my heart when I saw her burning. It is very personal. When I was a young girl, my great aunt would take me to mass there we would walk from her apartment from boulevard Raspail. I always loved this beautiful and regal cathedral. I am amazed how God is using this tragedy to bring everyone together in peace. Wow!
I hope and pray the burning of Notre Dame will call many fallen away Catholics back to their faith! I was one who lost my faith and finally came back to God four years ago. Now is a time of great spiritual warfare, and God is tenderly yet strongly calling His beloved children back to Him...
In the leading sequence of the video one can read »Ode To Joy - Trad.« - no, the Ode To Joy is not at all a traditional. It is part of the 4th movement of the 9th symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, the ode being a special form of poetry, a hymn to joy by Friedrich Schiller, one of the greatest German poets. The European parliament has decided many years ago to make the melody of the ode to the basis of Europe's Anthem. Obviously the American ignorance cannot be topped...
The fire was probably the best thing that could happen to our beloved Notre Dame. This cathedral will rise like a phoenix and flourish for many centuries.
I studied with Pierre Cochereau in the late 70's, so I know what that console looked like from the 60's renovation..........and that's not it. Nor is it the one from the American Church in Paris (a von Beckerath). Notre Dame never had a terraced console in the 20th and 21st century. Vierne's console (which was a amphitheater console.....like St. Sulpice) was in the tribune where the current organ it's 1993 console is.
A satanic arena for conducting blood sacrifices should never be a part of humanity masquaraded as a worshiping place. No matter how devine the fake enchantments echo may sound. Astoundly blind was the sleepy world unaware of the human sacfrifices going on right underground. Need we care? Absolutely not. Can I get a resoundingly loud Amen?
I miss watching this at midnight. Beautiful and heavenly music as always! 💖
Loved visiting the Church I hope put here back as she was before the terrible fire.
Beautiful Tribute Ms. Bish!
I hope the church and the organ can be restored. :)
JoM, thank you for sharing. :)
No better way to pay tribute to this immortal edifice and its musical history than to have the Queen of the Modern Organ- Diane Bish represent us.

Thanks Diane for sharing such a masterful Tribute with us.

Thank you Mrs. Bish! Greetings from Croatia and I wish you a Happy Easter! :)
Thank you so very much! So beautiful! From the ashes Notre Dame Cathedral will rise.
Yes God bless notre dame they said the organ was not damaged hopefully they can repair the cathedral.
.. and suddenly there are millions of euros to restore. But there is no Money for Hospitals or Schools?!?
that was only the grand organ. The choir organ will forever be unplayable
It'll take at least 5 years for a refurb I believe.

Just before the fire ...lucky to see the cathedral intact inside 👍😇 Thanks for this ! Hope to see it reconstructed the same... 💕
One must indeed be grateful for small mercies, thanks in no small part to the heroic efforts of the firemen.
Very nice! I hope people will be able to hear this organ again

So glad the magnificent organ was preserved from the fire!
I visited Notre Dame Cathedral on two occasions and never had the privilege to hear the organ. Hopefully I can attend a service when it's repaired.

yawn
I am so confused, the grand organ console does not look like the one she is playing
That is because she isn't playing at Notre Dame....just showing photos

A new roof and spire (replicating the 19th Century one) and it will look the same even though th he ancient timbers are gone.
The ancient timbers are gone but the never end spirit of the craftsmen lives for eternity.

Notre Dame is on fire
dude, my mom was there a long time ago
I miss you
It has not been recorded at notre dame cathedral. The organ console seems not to be the right one !!!

She isn't actually recording the organ at ND, it's just photos with a recording from another church

Best? Jesús!! The worst thing indeed.
She was not playing the grande orgue
She is NOT playing at Notre Dame, in all clips
What organ did she play Ode to Joy on?! It was not the console of the Grand Orgue of Notre Dame de Paris
John French 3:21
She was playing at the Maddelaine Church, the one that locks like a greek temple, in Paris
I believe they renovated the console some years ago so this is not the same console as exists now. It’s an older version
