Just stumbled across your channel and you seem super cool! The way you pair science with growing plants is so interesting to me. Will definitely watch more 😊 I live in Germany and I’m planning to go visit ecuagenera soon, their store is 20 minutes away from my house and I didn’t even know it till recently! Seeing them here gets me even more excited to see their varieties of orchids, even though I’ll be there for the aroids 👀
Hhhh. I never knew, I looked it up on google maps. We talking about the one near Bielefeld? Now I just need to make up a reason like I wanna go hiking with the dog in that area so my partner wouldn't be so confused as to why I wanna drive 3,5hrs to the middle of nowhere.... Have you been there by now? How was ist?
You could create a chamber and simulate altitude....would be a very cool show off project and video. BTW...have you heard of the company called "Neoplants"? They are selling an engineered plant that does the work of 30 in terms of cleaning and oxygen production!
Yikes! Looks pretty serious. Was it a tendon cut? I hope you have a speedy, and complete recovery! I have been enjoying your videos as I reintroduce myself to tissue culture. Thank you for sharing!
Wow, lucky to get a pup off such a small/young Ae Ae :) They seem to grow quite slowly compared to other bananas, with less chlorophyl etc. Another RUclips lady had an all-white Ae Ae pup but I don't think it survived. I've read that soil acidity can affect the variegation possibly. You might like to experiment on a cheap banana plant before going straight to an expensive Ae Ae? Good luck!
I just want to say I've SEEN thr monkey plant growing in REALLY warm, like 90F heat and very high humidity in a very heated hot house down here in Australia. You can probably easily grow them. They are from Asia so likely are better with heat than whatever you're reading. They're quite something to see.
As a 30y/o man i feel very special being outside of the viewer base lol. Considering your skillset have you considered making a very precise video about maybe cannabis plants? :D great video btw, you get a sub.
I love african violets! Your collection of them is amazing 😍 But I live in colder climate and have trouble keeping them alive.. 😅 Maybe you could make an in depth video of your varietys and care for them? I'm also wishing you a good recovery and hope that you can be a plant mom in action again very soon. I also was wondering what the difference between normal propagation and TC is except one needs less material for TC and I assume it takes longer than just propagating a leaf..? But what are the benefits of TC vs. propagation?
Thanks! When you propagate an African Violet from a leaf cutting, it takes a few months to grow 2 or 3 babies. When you propagate them via TC, it takes 6 or so months, but you can grow hundreds or thousands of plants. So TC is more viable for large scale operations, when people are trying to make money by selling plants :) Hope that helps!
I am so glad to have found your channel and generally the whole area around Tissue Culture. It's super exciting and you are so incredibly sympathetic :) I work in university and currently building a roof top garden and also plant cabinets with different light spectra in the lab. We are testing how to influence plants through light recipes. Or how to eliminate pesticide free weeds through e.g. robots. Currently I am building different hydroponics and rain catchment systems. Privately, I have been very interested in philodendrons of all kinds and their propagation for a long time. I think I have cut something from pretty much every plant in my area and put it into nutrient solution. So far in mineral hyro culture with H2O2 and UV-C light which also works quite well. We are a MakerSpace and I do not always want to buy the expensive equipment directly, but always try first time around itself... so I built as the first step a laminar flow box :-D Next week I'll try the sterile work. Thank you for your videos and that you are so cool! That inspires people and infects them. Questions arise and the desire to answer them. That is really good! I wish there were more young women like you in my area :-D Good luck to you and I look forward to your new videos! Greetings from Germany ;)
Welp, looks like I've aged out of your demographic!🤣That variegated orchid blew my mind!!! I made so much noise my roommate came in to check on me. I didn't/couldn't even imagine they existed!! So cool, must have, please?!? You feed my obsession and I'll give you cash for yours, lol! I can't wait to see your next project!
Your sussy "blackberry" needs some micro nutrients like iron and zinc, which is why it looks cholorotic. Hit it with some kelp juice and it will deadass green the f up no cap. Sorry for the bad zoomer english, I'm still learning
Kiwifruit are dioecious! But assuming you have male and female, they will be fertile. Almost certainly not golden, because the genetics are very unstable. Probably edible though - my bet would be a smaller sized, green fleshed fruit.
Same thing happened to me i ordered angel wings begonia maculata from Amazon and it should be 25-30 cm high plants but what i got is nearly died plant and now they both died now
I went to a botanical garden in Amsterdam. It was pretty cool . I want to try tissue culture, not for profit I guess just for fun . I enjoy growing things . It’s nice to create and care something I guess.
Soooo many cool ideas and plants to try, and.....OMG YOU HAVE A CORPSE FLOWER!!!! Seriously though, I'm still trying to work out which part's the stem and leaf??? 🤣 Enjoy the content, and the wit! Down with PGR!!! (excluding propagation contexts)😁
It doesn't matter what other people think of you, the part that counts, is you have to show the whole story, good or bad!! The job you do is a good view!!
I used to have some variegated vanilla orchids but I sold them! I could never get them to bloom for me (wrong climate I guess). I want to get some more and try again
Do you read your comments? I am a 40+ year old male. And I do not know how I got here, but, I know who Hannah Montana is. Thanks to my kids. The RUclips algorithm is weird. But, I guess I am going to start experimenting with Plant Tissue Culture now? I really hope the comments don't get weird or creepy. But, they probably do.
I cant wait to see the video when you TC the variegated bananas. I would love to have a Sarawak mint. Don’t know if I spelled that right. Thank you for your videos. Very informative.
As a young person, I care wayy more about leaves than flora! The flowers are usually short lived anyway.. But one of my grandmas, surprisingly the only one without a green thumb, is OBSESSED with African violets! I just have to take care of them for her😂.
I have a long form video about the BioCoupler that I'm posting this weekend! Basically the plants get easier nutrient uptake so they multiply faster and I have found it to work pretty well
@@plantsinjars I see....has anyone tried growing them in the same liquid medium aerate and in constant motion? I am imagining a 500 ml beaker with stir bar. A stainless steel oxygen stone could be dangled freely with impeding the rotation of the beaker....or perhaps the stirring is overkill, why not a beaker with the same solution used in the biocoupler and a stainless steel oxygen stone? Would almost be like a typical aeroponic hydroponic setup. I have been a home mycologist for about 25 years and I am finally getting into micropropagation....I will for sure try what I just described...perhaps I am speaking nonsense, but won't know until I try.
I guess I'm the outlier. I'm a 30 something lady and I love your channel! I'm not too into houseplants now but I do obsess over roses. There's an incurable virus that's plaguing roses on the east coast called rose rosette. I'd love to tissue culture some discontinued rare varieties to fill my garden with.
So interesting! I live in the uk and my greenhouse is very different! Haha. I love African violets too, so soft and velvety . They are great. Thanks for the tour
Hey have you ever thought about using the Olla erigation method, but instead of a pot you just stick a clay brick with a hole in it , or a clay leaf because of the shape of a pot and you just feed water in to it true a waterbottle
Thank you for sharing. Im not to in to orchids, i just cant get mine to bloom for nothing . Love the violets , now those are fun i have so many little babies and mamas
It depends on the type of plant! Herbaceous plants can be ready to sell within the year. Woody plants like trees and shrubs can take longer, but I haven't worked with any of those
Can you give a more detailed explanation for the begonia tissue culture specifically? We've inherited this "rare" or unnamed begonia, and would love to be able to propagate and spread this around so we can keep it alive
Absolutely. I'm testing some various begonia protocols now and I'm planning to make a begonia-specific video later this summer once I have some more content filmed :) Sounds like you have an awesome plant! I have been eyeing sp. Lai Chau
@@plantsinjars looking forward to your video. And yes the leaf edges have "deep folds" that I haven't seen before. It was owned by an old family friend who passed 15 years ago and never seen another one quite like this one
I love your channel, very informative on a good, understandable level 😁 I wanna try out ts myself but I live in Europe and I can't seem to find any suppliers here. Does anyone have some tips on how to get my hands on some basic medium? 🥹😁
Im literally a 40 year old man. And ive never been to Hannah Montana
40? check, Man? check, I have been to Montana but I don't get the reference.
This is the best new channel I've found in a while!! Holy damn! I think a new hobby is coming for me...
I have to move a fish tank to set up a still room myself, brother.😄
Love that the "sus" plant was at time stamp 4:20
73% male….look man, we just wanna grow plants in abundance in really cool scientific ways 😂.
I’m very happy to have found your channel!
I found this video series while looking for plants and science to show my youngest.

I didn't know Ecuagenera had a location in Germany! They also have a location close to my house in Florida as well. I love their orchids.
@@plantsinjars i didn’t know that either! That’s so cool, I truly had no idea they were a chain at all.

@@lava_oreo Theres also at least one vlog style tour of their store on yt that you could watch to get a better impression 😊
I've grown hybrid begonias for the past 20 years. They are very temperamental I've recently lost all of mine I've had for a decade :-(
That is so sad :(
You could create a chamber and simulate altitude....would be a very cool show off project and video. BTW...have you heard of the company called "Neoplants"? They are selling an engineered plant that does the work of 30 in terms of cleaning and oxygen production!

Well.... I turn 40 in a week so I guess the algorithm is consistent n what it recommends to some demographics.
Hi Laur! Sending you wishes for a swift recovery! 👋🏻🤕
The statement about younger people liking the foliage over the flowering plants is so true. I'm not to big on flowering plants other than cannabis.

Have you done any plant tissue culture using plant protoplasms-single cells?
Not yet - I'd need to figure out where to buy the enzymes. For now just messing around some simpler stuff!
Have you used a Biocoupler before....if so, what are its benefits versus drawbacks in comparison to a traditional fixed gel environment.
