    Your videos helped me out a lot I've been using MSI Kombuster before this video and I was never able to get a steady overlock when running any games. When I switched to Heaven Benchmark and it overclocked crashed correctly, I finally could fine-tune overlock my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB Founders Edition with an Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV. My final and perfect overclock without crashing, gaming 8 hours straight on any high-demand game (tried and tested):
    **Core Voltage:* 100%, Reference Design
    **Power Limit:* 120%
    **Temp Limit:* 92%
    **Core Clock:* (Base 1607) + 202 = (Average 2101 MHz, Peak 2126 MHz)
    **Memory Clock:* (Base 4007) + 568 = (Boosted to 4568 MHz)
    **Fan Speed:* User Defined + Auto
    **Fan Curve: (% - °C)* 40-40, 60-80, 84-88, 90-100

    Thank you very much for the tutorial man!
    My current settings on MSI GTX 1070ti Gaming are:
    Core voltage : +0
    Power limit: 133
    Temp Limit: 92
    Core clock: +200
    Memory clock: +575
    With a custom fan speed curve at about 80% fan speed at 75 degrees and 100% at 85 degrees. The GPU seems to be stable at these settings. I was able to pull off 15783 points in Heaven Benchmark 4.0 on 1080p Extreme settings. Hope this helps.

      @chubritsa9255 4 года назад

      @@ogonfer Hi, it's good that you perform series of burn-in tests after the overclocking in order to monitor the stability and temperature of the card. I used Heaven Benchmark 4 and Passmark Burnin Test. If you run the heavy tests for 20 minutes without having the card exceed 75-80 degrees then it is all good. Anyway I believe that even if the card goes too hot it automatically reduces the clock speeds in order to drop down the temperatures. So all in all I belive that, yes, it is a safe thing to do epecially if you perform the stabiltiy and temperature tests after the overclocking.

    I know this is an older video at this point, but I have an asus rog strix 1070ti advanced edition and the thermal compound on it was complete dogshit and was cement after like 9 months of running at stock and just using it for gaming. Replaced the thermal paste with arctic silver 5 and got my temps in furmark down from 88c to 65c. So seems like it needed a new thermal paste application. If your card is running hot you aren't going to be able to squeeze as much performance out of your card. If you card is out of warranty I'd say do it because it's not like it really matters at that point.
    (edit) If anyone is wondering I got +225 on the core and +300 on my memory. I would recommend this card if you can get it for around 300 usd used on ebay or something.
    Card is the Asus ROG Strix 1070ti Advanced Edition. Make sure to get the advanced edition because those ones are binned.

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  5 лет назад +3

      Thanks! We try to keep the community going. Jump on OCC Forums if you want to chat about PCs :).
      Anyways if you want to get technical, anything outside the manufacture design can and will damage the components. However this is a very broad statement. For video cards and processors these days it is all about voltage and heat generated. The more voltage it takes to overclock, the more heat is created. Since silicon dies have gotten down to 10-14nm, what wasn't a big deal like microvolts, is a big thing. 0.2mv can be the difference between a video card lasting 10 years or 1 month.
      Since NVIDIA video cards have a very locked down voltage range, its pretty hard to near impossible to damage the GPU Silicon without physical mods or official leaked BIOS from Overclocking conventions. But heat does play a role in the lifespan of the Silicon, so more heat mean it it will fail sooner than before. How long? well depends on everything else, but I would say it knocks a few years off the cards life. But in 6-8 years the card won't be able to play the newest games anyways....
      If you are mining or folding@home, that is a different story, cards under 24/7 load will live way shorter lives no matter what you do, they aren't designed for that type of environment. Maybe the Silicon will survive, but the constant load and 80c temps will kill everything else first.

    I got +200/+700 (Samsung) on an Asus GTX 1070 ti Cerberus with temps never breaking 70°C. Went from a 3045 to a 3420 Benchmark score (I5 6500 and still DDR3). That's about a 12% increase just from overclocking the GPU.
    Was really surprised about the temperatures. I think the Fans never broke 70% either and I tested the OC both with MSI Afterburner and ASUS GPU TweakII.

    I am an experienced overclocker. Im just scouting videos to see where this card lands "on average" as far as clock offset and mem. I noticed in your video, using MSI afterburner with a "non MSI card" the core voltage offset is not an option for you.
    In settings there is a option under (general) tab for unlocking the voltage feature with "third party" cards. just gives a little disclaimer because its not an MSI card/ that says; were not responsible warning... hitting (ok) software restarts and good to GO!
    All other overclocking software seems a tad buggy for a graphics card veteran. MSI afterburner never let me down once.

    • @unitcharles689
      @unitcharles689 6 лет назад

      @@anisinfo4910 I'm not sure what you are saying. But how do you go beyond manufacturer levels? The overclocking software. Whichever one works for you has a limit of 120% and 130% on pascal architecture. This is a limit from the manufacturer. Because Nvidia supports over clocking all the same with third party card manufacturers. However there is something called GPU boost 3.0 which will under volt and under clock if temperature is not ideal (below 65c) which is another wall that protects the card. You cannot void a warranty. Because the cards will save themselves before you can do damage. Master slave bios cards (ftw 2) by evga and some premium over clocking cards. Are designed for overclockers in mind. And give you many more fine tune options. Mostly tailored for LN2 or water cooling. So hope this is helpful and your comment was merely lake of knowledge on your part. Do a simple Google search please next time and take the time to go to some faq per manufacturer websites and read before you comment.

    • @overclockersclub

      Only indirectly. More Power draw and more heat (aka hot air dumping into the case). If your power supply is weak on the 12v rail, it can affect a steady 12v line since both the CPU and GPU use it. However I would say generally it does not affect the CPU when overclocked.

    Hey man, needed some answers if you don't mind.
    I'm running at Gigabyte 1070Ti Gaming, and using MSI Afterburner to OC. So far I've only upped my power/temp limit, but now I'm interested in upping my core/mem clocks.
    1) Any reason I can't raise my power limit to 133%? I'm locked to 120%. Also, is there any reason to go to 133% as opposed to 120%?
    2) Card is supposed to be good for overclocking, however, I can only reach +125mhz core, and +500mhz mem. It seems that anything beyond that crashes Unigine Benchmark after a few minutes. I've noticed that +125mhz has caused me to stutter a bit, so I'm just setting it to core to +100mhz for now, but I can't say for sure if that's the overclock. Any ideas?
    3) How worth is overclocking anyways?

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  5 лет назад +2

      Sure I'll try to help
      1:) Your card is limited to 120% power target limit because that what Gigabyted set it at. The MSI card I used in the video is 133%. Basically your card can't draw more than 217 Watts, where as that MSI card has a 240 Watt limit. Higher Power draw means you could avoid power throttling, though I don't think the 1070 Ti has that problem compared to the bigger dies that draw more power.
      2:) Every Silicon die is different. Luck of the draw really. Usually Boost 3.0 puts the card in the 1900 Mhz range. Most cards will top out at 2000 Mhz. Not missing much if you 1950 is your limit.
      3:) It can be worth it on the memory at least. You will gain 5-10 FPS just from a basic overclock. (Game dependent). So is that extra fps worth it to you or not?

    • @rubbun
      @rubbun 5 лет назад +1

      @@overclockersclub Ah alright. I knew that OC potential is basically luck, but I wanted to ask because maybe I was doing something wrong. Unfortunate since my previous 1050Ti OC'd far better. Didn't know about power limit though.
      It isn't a big deal, but more is always better. Don't really mind my current fps.
      Thanks a lot for the video! Very helpful for people like me.

    Hey @OverclockersClub, I was wondering, if i just keep the clock at 220mhz/500. Will it keep running at that speed constantly even when im browsing the internet, or specifically when it needs to? Cause i was worried that my hardware might wear out faster if it keeps at a constant overclocking speed even when idle.

    • @overclockersclub

      The overclock just adds to the Boost Clock. It will idle like normal. You can check this by having GPU-Z or Afterburner open and browse the web, you will see it is not running at full speed.

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  5 лет назад +1

      Increase the voltage is different than say AMD. if you move the slider, it will "allow" up to that voltage, but if the card has already hit the power limit or other things like temperature it will not change. Only time I saw the voltage move is with a waterblock or a cold start. I believe the voltage limit is 1.068 and normally the card reaches 1.048. Might help in the final tweaks, but I have it alone because It doesn't benefit me. It also doesn't really hurt anything.

  • @macm9000
    @macm9000 6 лет назад +1

    nice guide, but couldn't you have gotten a better oc raising voltage? is this not safe? i'm new to oc and just tried your settings on my asus strix 1070ti and get about 10 fps more than stock settings and max temp 65C.

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  6 лет назад +1

      Its a topic of discussion that at lot of people have different answers. Really raising the OC voltage will not harm the card. Nvidia built-in voltage limit is 1.093v (from 1.064v) stop anyone who doesn't hard mod the card to go above this voltage. Personally I found going above stock voltage (1.064v) just created more heat and my maximum core OC was the same, but actually was lower in the long run (longer periods of gaming) due to extra heat created by the increased voltage. I do not recommend increasing the voltage because the 1-3fps that you "may" get from a higher core clock is usually just wasted outside of benchmark runs.

    • @overclockersclub
      @overclockersclub  6 лет назад +1

      No you don't have to max out the card. Only you get within the 95% it makes little difference besides benchmarks. Whats 1-2 fps worth in difference for an extra 30 watts of heat or 100% fan speed ya know.
      Personally I just overclock to the max to see what the card can do, benchmark it, than lower it to the games I'm playing. So If I'm only playing games that I already get 100+ fps in, I may just leave it at stock. Like I love playing Battlefield 4. its a dated game (by the gaming world standards) but with stock settings I get over 200fps on the low end @ 1440P. My Acer Predator monitor can only do 165, so I don't see a reason to overclock. Its really game dependent.

    • @Lardzor
      @Lardzor 5 лет назад

      @@jackbeames7643 I personally would try for more. With GPUs, just like with CPUs, there's some randomness to the 'silicon lottery' and how well individual GPUs will perform, they are only guaranteed to work with the specs they are sold with. There are safeguards built into the drivers and bios of the video card to protect itself from physical damage, usually but lowering the clock rate, so even if you have the clock rate set to +150, it may not stay there after a few minutes of running a benchmark and the card warms up. Increasing the voltage will increase it's stability at higher clock rates, but also generates more heat. Higher voltages will increase heat even if you don't increase the clock rate, and may trigger the video card's safety measures to slow down the clock rate earlier. Just find the voltage and clock rate that give you the best sustained and stable result. Don't just increase the clock rate and then increase the voltage to make it stable. The increased voltage may cause the card to heat up more and give you a lower resulting clock rate after it's been running for a few minutes.

      Honestly 80c~ is fine if you are just gaming a few hours a day. Reference NVIDIA cards are designed to sit at 80-84c. That does not mean that is a good thing, but if NVIDIA thinks its reference cards are worthy of 84c than any card should be. That is not to say heat isn't a factor to components life-span, it very much is, but the card may be irrelevant by the time it dies. I still have a GTX 280 that has been overclocked for years. Still going strong.

      depends what your using to overclock your gpu but yes after you do that save it and you should find a autostart settings or something like if you want to always have it activated for example on gpu tweak III its called start with windows. but i would recommend only using the overclock if the game fps is a bit low, so lets say for example minecraft is running at a steady 60-70 fps so no need to overclock but on some other game which is a little demanding on hardware like red dead redemtion and you get 40 fps then you can open afterburn and make sure the overclock profile is enabled

      That's why you stress test. No OC can be seemed stable until it's withstood a big stress test. I generally find a clock that seems stable at a glance then run it for 4 hours and come back. If all good I run it again for 12 - 15 hours and assess performance. If it can survive such environments then there are little regular gaming applications can do to push them.

      Also you can use MSI Afterburner, it works with all cards. Palit just made its own overclocking software called ThunderMaster.

      when your settings to core and mem clock work without crashing, u dont need to touch anything else, i think.
      just be sure to test long enough and take a look at temperatures. Then adjust fan curve, if needed.

      You can have both installed, Just make sure only one is running at a time. I don't know which one will overwrite the other, but it might be confusing to find your settings are not being applied. You do not have to use the MSI Afterburner, I use it because I found it to be the most user friendly. All the these companies have their own software that does the same thing.

      From the little information I know, I know I have read that for long term use/overclocking it's best to keep the temp of the cpu below 80c. Though your cpu can handle those temps seeing as it didn't overheat, it might not fare well in longer gaming sessions. Good luck, take what I say with a grain of salt I've only built one PC and just now getting into overclocking, good luck.

    i got mine with 60+voltage power and temp to maximum +200 on core and + 450 memory and fans at 80%. I have an msi gpu and with this settings it reaches 2.1ghz on core and it never crashed once. I tested for many hours and in alot of games and it never crashed. Its like a 20+fps boost on all games. Ofc i dont oc in competitive games like csgo cos i already get 500 fps there so there is no point but on other games like far cry 5, ac origins or the witcher 3 the difference is there and i can feel it since i play on 144hz and i reach 144fps with this overclock. In ac origins i stay on 100 fps in cities and crowded places and above 130 when im in the desert.

      Artifacts are generally memory related. Usually once it heats up small errors start to become big ones. You might be better off at 450+. Depends on the brand but you will see a rang from 400-700+ for the memory. PCB signal integrity also plays a role in memory overclocking.
