@@camialeh Sequential is just the way you change the gears. In order to clutchless-shift, the gears need to dog gears. Judging from the quite stock looking dash, Id assume this car isnt _too_ far from stock, so it probably still has the stock trans with syncro-gears. Whats always amazing is, these old footages look really fast, todays videos with go pros and stuff look like the car is going 30mph while in reallity its going 200mph. Not everything is better with modern technology.
NSX was,is and will be Kaboom in motorsports history...NSX dominated track battles with a V6 though 90s was the core period of V12 fashion..NSX came with V6 heart..NSX has so much perfected with body dynamics, chassis, weight ratio... everything is balanced..in this race, NSX is racing without aero package, no widebody package....luckily 90s wasn't much of engine swap like nowdays...we have here a simpleton NSX with long bumpers, tuned-tweaked V6 and ladi-lada with campers, casters and so on... remember guys, this is a V6 not a K24..Keichi and other NSX drivers competed with a V6 with big engine giants... 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Why im not born in the 80´s seriously now the real driver is on a computer not a real machine with a real gearbox and thissss sound of the shift and all it represent the automotiv passion for me...
He looks extremely worn out after the race.. only italian captions available, so what the fuzz was about is a complete guess.. perhaps the gearbox was hanging on by a thread, or they were in a tough battle with a rival team.. I know just surviving Le Mans is a major achievement. So could be that too
Gearbox was not doing good, slipping and he did not get it into the right gears at first so definitely was hanging by a serious thread, he explained in the video although in Japanese.
Also, it's weird that it is left hand drive given that Japanese cars are usually right hand drive even in race specs like Group A. Although Tsuchiya had raced BMWs & Sierras up till that point, he mainly raced RHD cars which may make driving the LHD NSX a bit uncomfortable after some time in the race.
anybody know why his downshift timing is more aggressive than his upshift timing? DK-san usually drives with a more aggressive upshift than this... The downshift seems a bit fast but the engine response seems to match his tempo Maybe the engine drops revs slower than it gains revs?
3 years late but here you go: According to Tsuchiya, the clutch pedal doesn't want to go back to its original position immediately. It wouldn't matter much on downshifts because you're gonna rev match anyway so you don't need the clutch to return immediately but in upshifts it's different. He couldn't step on the gas as soon as he wanted because the clutch was still depressed, hence why the upshifts felt sluggish. Preserving the car is crucial in Le Mans after all. @@blu0065 No problem! Yeah and there’s more, shifting when there’s lateral G force is hard apparently, the gear doesn’t go in smoothly. They had drive shaft problems too, replaced but broke again near the end. I’d be staining my pants if I were in that driver seat lol what a mess, it’s amazing what they did.
Why did they use a LHD car for Le Mans? Typically it's normal for the cars to be RHD as it's quicker for driver changes due to the pitlane being on the right.
No - it's not here in Europe. The cars were race prepped in Germany by Kremer and ran in France - so LHD is normal. And the time for the driver change plays no big role because fuel filling needed more time anyway due to the regulations. I bet there would be nearly no difference between RHD and LHD driver change time.

RXZ そう考えると、91年のルマン勝者のマツダが開発、使用していたシステムがいかに優秀か分かりますね。
車の情報ほぼ全てがほぼタイムラグ無くリアルタイムでピットで確認できてましたからね。
無線で報告している方が格好いいですよね。今のドライバーはF1でさえピットから走り方まで指示されて、なんだか気の毒。
全ての操作が、めっちゃソフトで丁寧ですね。
