    The 3 NSXs competing in LMGT2 category came in 6th, 7th and 9th (#47, featured in this video driven by Keiichi Tsuchiya) in their class in 1994. The next year 1995 Keiichi Tsuchiya's NSX won its class.

    4:01 ♥ pop up headlights on a racecar ♥ they are lowered during the daytime races earlier in the clip. later in the 90's the NSX refresh changed it to regular headlights. back in '94 they probably had to keep the pop up headlight assembly if not the actual mechanism for homologation rules.

    Witnessed it irl at Le Mans in 1994. That v6 sound was quite a thing 😍 And sounds were crazy at that time (I can still remember the RX7's rotary sound). Love those NSX, especially the Kenwood/black hood one.
    94 was special because cars weren't as highly modified as they are today in gt class. And that's a 11 y/o kid's memory also 😁

    NSX was,is and will be Kaboom in motorsports history...NSX dominated track battles with a V6 though 90s was the core period of V12 fashion..NSX came with V6 heart..NSX has so much perfected with body dynamics, chassis, weight ratio... everything is balanced..in this race, NSX is racing without aero package, no widebody package....luckily 90s wasn't much of engine swap like nowdays...we have here a simpleton NSX with long bumpers, tuned-tweaked V6 and ladi-lada with campers, casters and so on... remember guys, this is a V6 not a K24..Keichi and other NSX drivers competed with a V6 with big engine giants...

      Also, it's weird that it is left hand drive given that Japanese cars are usually right hand drive even in race specs like Group A. Although Tsuchiya had raced BMWs & Sierras up till that point, he mainly raced RHD cars which may make driving the LHD NSX a bit uncomfortable after some time in the race.

    anybody know why his downshift timing is more aggressive than his upshift timing?
    DK-san usually drives with a more aggressive upshift than this... The downshift seems a bit fast but the engine response seems to match his tempo
    Maybe the engine drops revs slower than it gains revs?

    • @Akira-kd6us
      @Akira-kd6us Год назад +1

      3 years late but here you go:
      According to Tsuchiya, the clutch pedal doesn't want to go back to its original position immediately. It wouldn't matter much on downshifts because you're gonna rev match anyway so you don't need the clutch to return immediately but in upshifts it's different. He couldn't step on the gas as soon as he wanted because the clutch was still depressed, hence why the upshifts felt sluggish. Preserving the car is crucial in Le Mans after all.

      @@blu0065 No problem! Yeah and there’s more, shifting when there’s lateral G force is hard apparently, the gear doesn’t go in smoothly. They had drive shaft problems too, replaced but broke again near the end. I’d be staining my pants if I were in that driver seat lol what a mess, it’s amazing what they did.

    Why did they use a LHD car for Le Mans? Typically it's normal for the cars to be RHD as it's quicker for driver changes due to the pitlane being on the right.

    • @Fastvoice
      @Fastvoice 4 года назад +2

      No - it's not here in Europe. The cars were race prepped in Germany by Kremer and ran in France - so LHD is normal. And the time for the driver change plays no big role because fuel filling needed more time anyway due to the regulations. I bet there would be nearly no difference between RHD and LHD driver change time.

      @@Fastvoice I'm a Brit, but I see your point about the cars being prepped in Germany being a cause for a LHD model to be used. Thanks for the good reply.
