I would not use chicken net as it isn't strong enough. Rabbit easily will bite a hole in it. Really like how you made the door. I'll make it the same way in my rabbit trap.
Works but way to complicated. Have used many designs and while complicated ones do work, they also fail many times did to being over complicated. Good video and impressed by your old tools.
Really?!!! The chicken wire makes the trap too dangerous, especially with the exposed edges on the inside. Even if you cover the edges up somehow, the small gauge wire is going to cut cats or any animal trying to get out. Trial and error isn't a good idea here. Get advice from experienced trappers. This is just a BAD DESIGN.
Ok it's 4 years later but it is just irking the *#!× out of me. You did not make a rig. You made a jig. Ok wait before I irk myself. Yes you did make a rig however the type if rig you made is a jig. I have to go before I sound more like a mentally ill Dr. Seuss
Well my man. As a carpenter of 53 years you did a great job with the tools you had at your disposal.
Thank you Charles. Sometimes you just got to make due with what you got.
Good job and wayyyyyy cheaper than buying one. Fix'n to move some cats and rabbits we inherited when we bought our first house... thanks
Good to see someone using hand tools and not power tools
Thank you!
I was sceptical of that type trigger but I am more open to it. Good video👍
Love your design. I don't know if I will go through all that. I will try to find something simpler.

You won't keep a raccoon in that very long, he/she will rip that chicken wire out post haste!
Raccoon will reach in and grab the goodies
You gotta love a guy that does carpentry with a machinists or ball-peen hammer😂

Дверца может хвост перебить, котику ! Думаю, что надо оставить просвет внизу ! Или сделать ящик длиннее !
Those tools! Are you a time traveler?
I've never seen someone with all those tools and using a ball penne hammer to drive nails!
It is a sentimental hammer
Muito eficiente o sistema de gatilho 👏👏👏👏👍🇧🇷🐀🐿️🐰🦡

I would definitely not use a hammer as much. I had bad some experiences. Lol
Awesome trap……… Sadly it would cost $2,500.00 to make now!!! Lol!!!
too true

Man get a job in construct you will learn so much in 6 months. You will realize how redundant this is.

never build one trap, you will starve 😏. I have 30, and a full freezer of critter meat.

So basically you copied a Caribbean blue crab trap
What if the animal decides to sniff around and do a bit of climbing? Ooops!!! It will move the trigger from the outside and all you will trap is air.
Yes this can happen
Unfortunately that design allows animals to climb on top and trigger the trap without entering
True
