So true. I’m only two days in but jeez the first three days or so are always the longest. I made it a full year and then made the mistake of “celebrating” that win by smoking again. 8 months later I’m like, damn. That 8 months went by way too fast and I feel like I got way less done.

Struggling with getting past that exact mind game right now. I’m trying to get sober now to focus and finish up a big project by the end of the month, but my brain keeps trying to convince me “This is going to slow you down. You might as well just finish the project and then quit.”
Thing is, this project could have been done by May. Could have been done by April or March, really. But I just keep slowing myself down by letting my addiction win.

I remember when I started I kept saying to myself I was always going to quit at the next big event (e.g. starting college, the new year, finishing college, starting work). What changed it for me was my relationship with others and seeing how it impacted that - I noticed that in the weeks I did not smoke my passion for everything and everyone around me felt stronger. I found that funny because I'd always wondered why my love for everything wasn't as strong as when I was a teenager.
