- Sheryl Crow - Weather Channel - live - 2002. This song is about the the clinical depression she struggled with in the late 1990s.
Lyrics:
Sunny morning
You can hear it
Siren's warning
There is weather on both sides
And I hear it coming
Just like before
There's a black dog
That scratches my door
He's been growling my name saying
You better get to running
Can you make it better for me
Can you make me see the light of day
'cause I got no one
Who will bring me a
big umbrella
While I'm watching the weather channel
And I'm waiting for the storm
It's just sugar
Just a pill to keep me happy
Though it may not fix the hinges
But at least the door has stopped its creaking
And I got friends there
Waiting for me to comb out my hair
Come outside and join the human race
But I don't feel so human
Can you make it better for me
Can you make me see the light of day
'cause I got lab coats
Who will bring me panaceas
While I'm watching the weather channel
And waiting for the storm
You won't want me
Standing 'round the birthday pony
Even though it's just a game
You know we are the same
But you're the better faker.

Saw this on the Sheryl Crow documentary and I was like,
You put it perfectly what depression is when she talked about she can go jump out the window, but she didn’t have the energy or care to people who suffer from depression. Understand this she’s so strong I love her.
Hearing Sheryl talking about this song in the Showtime movie was heartbreaking. Just to be able to understand people can feel this way and you may be able to reach them and help them through the darkness is a comfort, but when you are there, there is no light in sight.
One of the greatest songs ever written
This song epitomizes the way I feel- I'm just so glad she had someone to help her & bring her out of it. It's too bad not everyone has people or even 1 person to do that for them. Because it's gotta be hard to do that for another person... what an ultimate show of support, love, & acceptance of that person.
"It's just sugar, just a pill to make me happy" - I know that feeling, Sheryl.
She is one of my favorite singers. ❤
Sheryl is a sweet, lovely, beautiful lady, and a talented singer who can capture human emotion like no one else! She's a wonderful human being with a good heart and kind personality.
One of many favorites from one of the most beautiful singer- songwriters ever.
Been there several times.. beautiful song..
Beautiful Song
Sheryl is fantastic in this song!
Ficou lindo 😻
I used this song in my therapy share session. So close to my heart, my experiences...so relatable to so many.
I've been in darkness for most of my life. Many sugar pills I take daily yet weather still comes. I'm so very tired. Can you make it better for me? Can you make it safe and sound?
I got through my depression time. That is possible. Maybe that's a cheer up for some, that would be good. But I still understand every word in that song.
Like silk 4 the soul.....🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Great song!!!
I THINK IF WE ARE HONEST WITH OURSELVES AND OTHERS WE ALL AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER HAVE TO DEAL WITH DOWN TIMES IE DEPRESSION IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE WEAK OR HAVE A TROUBLED BRAIN
Never heard this one, HAUNTING ✨thank you
@gezzzusss - You are so fortunate to have seen this tour. I can understand your reaction to hearing her sing this song live.
Thats pretty good audio..n the video is a real bonus...thank god for tapers..😉👍
waiting for the storm
JDK brought me here" it's just sugar a 💊 to keep me calm". .. waiting for the storm
always stuck in the storm
There is something very Mazzy Star about this.
I thought this too!
Yea, ProTel-Con even just for Congress last year. No one ever knocked on my door cause only a crazy person would believe in Climate Change. I'd rather stop the storm than be depressed. Can we forget the sugar pills and get the Lab Coats on 60 minutes? We got the UFO's today on their channel.
The slide guitar probably, by the awesome Peter Stroud
❤
Moving. #WalkerTennesseeOutlaw
Hard to tell. Sometimes, she perform her sings with slightly different words each time.
I am a pretty good faker. ☀️👣
@gezzzusss You are someone i`d love to meet!
i think the first two words are sunday morning. it's beautifully shot though.
always in OK. LOL
Sheryl needs to hear the one where I make the rain have to fall for all of the bad and mean people. Those people are scumbags. She's super duper, anyways, of course.
