True. Right after my first placements I was S5 and played with a friend (B5), S5 was wild but B5 (or I guess somewhere in between?) was a lot worse. They don't really lose because they can't aim (saw a few with pretty good aim) but because they make dumb decisions (like you said, mostly running in 1 by 1 into a full team - eg had a reinhardt shattering alone with 20hp against a full team and he just died with 30secs left in the game - we won without him lol). It was also the time I mostly played Moira - high survivability and a lot of dps potential. I mostly used my mates as meatshields and only held them alive for long enough to get important kills myself (because literally noone focuses supports, they just hit onto the tanks lol). A few times me and the other support got flamed, but those teams are impossible to heal, so I just blocked and reported them. If you're not way above this rank, winning seems impossible sometimes. His aim does indeed seem decent, however very inconsistant. The times where he IS pressured / under stress, you notice his aim being off, or at least a lot less consistent. I heard a lot of gold and silver players ended up placing rly low and had to climb back up. This guy was probably silver in ow 1. My friend who was gold also landed in bronze and made his way back up while another friend of mine who was diamond placed gold and also had to climb back up.

I'm a plat in Support. I play mostly Mercy, but sometimes Ana and Zen aswell. Some games my aim is really good, then in that same game it just sucks again. It's not always a "pressure" thing aswell. I just don't have the consistent skill. In deathmatch waiting for a game I always pick Widowmaker, and there are times I can get some really good picks, and my aim is on point. Other times I miss everything. That's why it's hard for me to rank up in Damage aswell. But I can see that in this Widow too.
now that ow is free to play, a lot of players are coming in from games that rely more heavily on aim than anything else (apex, cod, even valorant) so aim is no longer that decisive an indicator of someone's rank; to really know if i person is in the right rank, you have to look at their decisions beyond aim: their positioning, their target priority, whether or not (and how!) they work with their team, and (imo) most importantly, their ability usage and cooldown management. these are gonna be the real indicators of a person's overwatch skill.
Also there are good players in other games who just started overwatch end up quite often to bronze for some reason or another. My friend is master in apex, global in CS etc and he ended up in bronze in overwatch. Very good player in all games just new to the game and not sure what happened to him in placements but I was laughing my ass off when I saw his rank few weeks ago :D
0:56 because every moira player is to fucking overconfident they will kill a enemy because how ridiculous her damage is. aka people treat it like a dps character.
Please can we get more of this I’ve been hardstuck bronze for a lil over 300 hours now I know that one tricking widow is hard and will take a lot of time to see improvement but I’ve been vod reviewing myself and training my aim everyday and I can’t even get to bronze 1
He looks like he came from a different FPS. His knowledge of OW-specific things like grapple use is bizarre at best, but his aim is decent. Positioning, gamesense, and ability use... not as much.
That Zarya he was missing he actually would have hit probably, but their Orisa kept booping them which booped them out of his shots. At least that's what it looked like to me.
My theory on the aiming is that it's two people switching off playing. Like how siblings do sometimes with games. There's no other real explanation to the off/on button with aiming and IQ.
I am healer bronze 2 and dps bronze 5, mostly play in quick match with widow (because I'm still not good with her) and i can say some of his decisions are very bronze, but his aim it's pretty good 3 kill in row can be made by bronze player (i have made some here and there not very often) but he seems he could came from games like valorant or CSGO where you need to make headshots quicker than your opponent
This guy could be an apex legends player? The way he used the grapple reminds me of how you would play Pathfinder. However Widow and Paths grapples are very different. That could also explain the good aim.
I have decent aim most of the time, the problem I keep running into is either when My aim goes to shit on critical shots or my team just sucks compared to the other team, I think my positioning is decent however on maps like this one I find myself not sure where to go because the high ground is not ideal, a video that goes over positioning on all the maps(specially the control maps) would be really helpful. Im bronze 3-2 btw keep bouncing in between
Try your best not to blame the team I started in bronze 3 but shot up with bad aim (my sim isn’t terrible I just had a bad aim streak) but just being aggressive without dying takes you far
one of the reasons youre staying in bronze is because your second statement was "or my team just sucks compared to the other team" blaming everyone else on a team game is never going to help you climb. you just assume you did well and everyone else didnt, so youll never improve. if you lose, you should always default to "what can /I/ do better next time to win" because then you are always aiming to get better. watch your replays and watch your positioning. i would honestly say learning good positioning is more important in ow2 than aim simply because staying alive in ow2 is extremely important. its not the same game as ow1 and lots of people are playing it that way
I would imagine that he comes from another game like csgo where you hold an angle with a sniper and don't have to track as much. Either that or he has frame drops.
Honestly I think because this persons aim is pretty good he’s played other shooters, but he’s probably new to overwatch 2. Due to this he doesn’t have good map knowledge or decision making. Plus because he might be a new player using the grapple at the start might just be because it’s fun to swing around.
I was the opposite to this guy😂. I had good game sense and decision making but really couldn’t aim and was stuck in bronze. As soon as I learnt to aim I got up to plat/diamond where I am now
I feel like as well with there being a lot of other fpses, people coming to ow2 new having played say a lot of val, don't necessarily haev the positioning or game sense as a lot of older players but might well have great aim and could potentially climb a lot, so not technically smurfing but also better than where they're stuck atm
i'll say it from my perspective - i have bad aim, although i played shooters and trained quite much. With widow you sometimes go "on fire" when your reaction is suddenly boosted up for some reason
As someone in bronze I can confidently say that everything in this video is certified bronze. I feel I can answer some of your questions about weird plays (since you seem pretty confused) 9:10 Zarya saw a low hp orisa and wanted to kill. 7:41 it worked last time so try it again (then just panicked because soldier kills quick and didn't know what to do). 8:28 this was because no one was in line of site and they weren't sure where to go. Didn't immediately retreat because the soldier was low. Also, one more thing to add about any weird plays you might see in this tier, absolutely no communication or trust is going on. Widow wouldn't back up to the team because there's no reliability that the team will notice her and then defend her. Everyone has a basic idea of what their job is and that doesn't expand on that. Again, this is just my opinion on what she's thinking. To me, this widow played probably how I would, except has much better aim. I don't really play widow, but this is something how I would imagine it goes. I feel I honestly just feel like I understand everything that just happened as if it was me, I had to make sure that the person in this video wasn't me. Hope everyone who read this has a great day! :)
7:24 i think that is result of playing other Games Like csgo or valorant. Because those Players have better muscle memory when they have to Image where the head is when peeking or Holding angles. When an enemy is in the open field that movement to the head or the Body in general becomes much more 'unnatural'
I think its worth mention that due to the placement of ow2 where a lot of players are placed 1000sr below their previous rank in ow1. If this widow hasn't played enough games as you mentioned, he would not have achieved his true rank. Its possible this is a silver or low gold player being placed below where they should be.
This seems primarily like a consistency, cooldown, and decision making issue. Their aim is ok, but everything else needs improvement. He seems like a rhythmic aimer. If their movement is out of his cadence or he forces a shot out of his cadence, he misses. These are the kinds of players who would excel on Mei, just holding left click. Also, no this is without a doubt bronze. Long gone are the days of OW where aim was enough to carry you into plat/diamond. Everyone has improved over the years. I used to be plat around season 13-16 and stopped playing comp. I then started playing comp with my duo after role lock with people who were bronze skill level and new to the game, we tried to bus them and deranked. I had a minor argument with one of them mid match for pressing S, while Nano'd and full HP on Rein and stopped playing comp again. Got into TDM with my duo and play it every day it's up in arcade. Anywho, in OW2 I placed Silver 4 on support probably from deranking so bad. I immediately won 7/8 games in which some games I had 20k healing and 8k damage or shutout the other team, or even in that loss (which my team literally threw - stopped playing together with a 5min time bank) was far ahead of other support in the lobby, jumped to silver 1. I expect if I'm consistent in the next 7, I'll jump again to mid Gold and then 7 more, low Plat. But IDK, I think I'm a high-mid diamond player compared to what I've seen and just need to actually play and climb. TLDR; Anywho, I think the ranking system is better than it was in OW1. It rewards for consistency and performance, which is why this guy is Bronze.
This video is honestly the best example of "good aim will only get you so far." Despite the fact this player could hit some pretty nice shots and get some kills, it's not nearly consistent enough where it matters, and when you stack poor positioning, resource management, target priority, and decision making on top of that, this guy being Bronze 5 starts to make more sense. There's also a high possibility their aim is a result of playing other shooters, like Apex or CoD, where the mechanical skill can carry over but everything else is often lacking.
Ok but tbf the aim rly isnt great, its not even good. Good aim is consistent, his aim is highly inconsistent and leads me to believe hes just getting lucky. if you have rly good aim and 0 game sense you can probably hit masters maybe low gm but beyond that is probably rough. Espcecially when you play a hero liek widowmaker
Positionning is really important in overwatch, maybe even more than aiming. I'm saying this because I was stuck into platinum for years in overwatch 1, probably for this reason. My aim has always been pretty good, but very questionnable positionning and game sense. Not as bas as this widow positionning tho, and honestly I think he's more like ~1800-2000SR based on overwatch 1 ranking.
Im a plat wido and i for some reason cant get the simple shot but every now and then i pop off like crazy. I think they could be in gold, the only probablem is the way they move around. And could lower the aim speed could probably make it better.
I feel like this guys aim is directly tied to how much danger he's in, easy shots he can't hit but after grappling head first into a reaper he starts landing headshots, certainly funny at least
i agree with others' comments. many bronze stay in bronze due to positioning, target priority, and other decision-making. i used to be >500 SR bronze. literally, it said >500. now, MY aim is atrocious but getting better (used to play at 12-26 fps, now at 144 fps). but my game sense is much better than my peers'. every other game, i have 3+ of my teammates (or the other team) die to a dva bomb where the dva ulted in place. or where the mercy's 1hp and out of position and no one but me tries to punish her for it. bronze gameplay comes across as a "confuse the enemy" tactic but in reality, they just don't make the best decisions. but the enemy team won't completely punish them for those decisions, bc they're making equal but opposite bad decisions lol but you should've seen it back in october. i was playing at the rank that people were first starting the game and learning the characters. it was ASTOUNDING the shit i saw lmao
He’s clearly got the game sense of a between a bronze 1-5 trying to grapple onto points etc but has the game play of a plat or maybe a bit higher, wouldn’t be surprised if he has been a COD player picking up OW2 when it launched
As a low ELO widow (silver), a lot of us have very inconsistent aim. I can go on hotstreaks and be godly, or I could miss a Roadhog that's standing still 20m away.
Well people are quite good at clicking stuff today. So in any elo they find a head from time to time. It's really down to movement and decision making in ranked. So you find the head more often then the enemy. Also higher ranked games are far less chaotic so you can end up in low elo just by solo queuing into the wrong matches.
I don’t think he was a gold or plat player because I was hardstuck in around that range for the whole of ow 1 and placed silver and immediately got back into gold for dps and am now plat again in support. They did have good aim but with cool-down management like that and the positioning at times even in silver they would get heavily punished I think.
as an unranked person who spends 99% of their time in quick play… unranked bc i cant win comp games, played my first one back in season 2 and never touched it again bc i lost. i won my first comp game yesterday after playing like 5+ games with my duo💀💀 although, i’m not a dps or tank, i main mercy and i wouldn’t say i’m amazing but i’m decent, i’m usually the person with the most heals and assists and least deaths, although that’s not always the case

@@GodronATX happened to me... but it's just a bug... after 7 wins (but i got a lot of loses too) i jumped from bronze 5 to silver 4.... and from silver 4 to gold 4... from gold 4 i had to climb for real, slowly!! Now i'm plat 4. (ow1 i was almost master... diamonf and high plat most of the time)
@@GodronATX i guess it must be really hard to hold back on playing comp to relearn the game, and a compound effect is that i saw many players failing to notice that regroup for fights has more value now. all you need is one teammate going off-tempo into a fight to make all fights 4v5
@@DMAart Idk i think it depends on role, I place silver 4 on tank but i got to plat in 14 games with 100% winrate, bronze players are rly easy to stomp if you play tank and some dps’
@@GodronATX cuz silver and gold is the same level of bronze
3:10 that Moira just became helicopter 🤣
I dont know if im more irritated by the grapples or by the fact that they seemed to consistently ignore their ult at times when it would have been very beneficial to have walls.
3:50 me when I need to shut a play down. Like I promise you my shots never hit when it matters.
The random grapples were so funny. Dude thinks Widow is spiderman or some shit? hahaha great video Kenzo.
Stress misses, i suffer by the same thing.
Whenever the game becomes to hectic, i miss all my shots.
now that ow is free to play, a lot of players are coming in from games that rely more heavily on aim than anything else (apex, cod, even valorant) so aim is no longer that decisive an indicator of someone's rank; to really know if i person is in the right rank, you have to look at their decisions beyond aim: their positioning, their target priority, whether or not (and how!) they work with their team, and (imo) most importantly, their ability usage and cooldown management. these are gonna be the real indicators of a person's overwatch skill.
Man I'm in bronze, I have no idea where you find these players but every game I play I'm sweating my ass off.
0:56 because every moira player is to fucking overconfident they will kill a enemy because how ridiculous her damage is. aka people treat it like a dps character.
As someone who has played in a lot of bronze from ow1 to 2 bronze "aim" doesn't particularly matter it's a huge game sense thing
Yes please make more vod reviews. We don't have enough top tier dps players doing reviews especially from good snipers.
seeing Kenzo opinion on this Widow boosted my confidence lol
This is how I play! Except I miss all my shots 💀
Dude, bronze is wild. You never know what they're gonna do next.
Reminds me of my aiming - surprisingly good and surprisingly the worst at the same time
Please can we get more of this I’ve been hardstuck bronze for a lil over 300 hours now I know that one tricking widow is hard and will take a lot of time to see improvement but I’ve been vod reviewing myself and training my aim everyday and I can’t even get to bronze 1
I play widow in bronze and it is very difficult, plus I'm on switch so it's even more difficult. But I'm striving to get better.
1:40 just trying to run away I guess, but when the claw worked it was already too late
He looks like he came from a different FPS. His knowledge of OW-specific things like grapple use is bizarre at best, but his aim is decent. Positioning, gamesense, and ability use... not as much.
that’s widow’s got balls for some of those plays
"Moira is teabagging the Mercy..." im weakkkkkkk
That Zarya he was missing he actually would have hit probably, but their Orisa kept booping them which booped them out of his shots. At least that's what it looked like to me.
I think he touched OW1 a little but mostly comes from other games, the game sense isn't there but the aim is.
My theory on the aiming is that it's two people switching off playing. Like how siblings do sometimes with games. There's no other real explanation to the off/on button with aiming and IQ.
In OW1 I was 2400 and I got placed Silver 5 when I did placements. After winning 7 games I immediately jumped up to Silver 1
Random question but anyone have any tips for hitting shots on strafing targets?
OMG I WANTED THIS SECTION FOR MANY YEARS TY❤❤
I am healer bronze 2 and dps bronze 5, mostly play in quick match with widow (because I'm still not good with her) and i can say some of his decisions are very bronze, but his aim it's pretty good 3 kill in row can be made by bronze player (i have made some here and there not very often) but he seems he could came from games like valorant or CSGO where you need to make headshots quicker than your opponent
Bro He only turned to shoot the mercy and widows head just happened to be in the way
This guy could be an apex legends player? The way he used the grapple reminds me of how you would play Pathfinder. However Widow and Paths grapples are very different. That could also explain the good aim.
I can't get a shot when enemies are being pushed or something like that, I only can headshot when they are pathing by themself
Bonze 5 means nothing at the moment. Literal pros and streamers placed Bronze. Ranked is broken for many people.
As a widow player this helps a lot, good video
I have decent aim most of the time, the problem I keep running into is either when My aim goes to shit on critical shots or my team just sucks compared to the other team, I think my positioning is decent however on maps like this one I find myself not sure where to go because the high ground is not ideal, a video that goes over positioning on all the maps(specially the control maps) would be really helpful.
Im bronze 3-2 btw keep bouncing in between
Try your best not to blame the team I started in bronze 3 but shot up with bad aim (my sim isn’t terrible I just had a bad aim streak) but just being aggressive without dying takes you far
one of the reasons youre staying in bronze is because your second statement was "or my team just sucks compared to the other team" blaming everyone else on a team game is never going to help you climb. you just assume you did well and everyone else didnt, so youll never improve. if you lose, you should always default to "what can /I/ do better next time to win" because then you are always aiming to get better. watch your replays and watch your positioning. i would honestly say learning good positioning is more important in ow2 than aim simply because staying alive in ow2 is extremely important. its not the same game as ow1 and lots of people are playing it that way
so funny watching these too😭I saw that mercy try to res any chance she could and use valk in order to res at all💀
bro thinks he's flats
Decided to pick up and practice with Genji.
Wish me luck!
This dude is overwatch's version of Furiouss.
I think he’s probably coming from a different fps, as it would explain the decent aim with terrible ability usage
You should do more of these spectate vids on people you play
7:24 i think that is result of playing other Games Like csgo or valorant. Because those Players have better muscle memory when they have to Image where the head is when peeking or Holding angles. When an enemy is in the open field that movement to the head or the Body in general becomes much more 'unnatural'
I think its worth mention that due to the placement of ow2 where a lot of players are placed 1000sr below their previous rank in ow1. If this widow hasn't played enough games as you mentioned, he would not have achieved his true rank. Its possible this is a silver or low gold player being placed below where they should be.
7:34 my aim be bipolar like that 💀
Kenzo always comes with the god tier videos!! Keep it up
Weird thing to say...
It rewards for consistency and performance, which is why this guy is Bronze.
i think i played this guy and he absolutely wiped our team over and over we couldn’t win
This video is honestly the best example of "good aim will only get you so far."
Despite the fact this player could hit some pretty nice shots and get some kills, it's not nearly consistent enough where it matters, and when you stack poor positioning, resource management, target priority, and decision making on top of that, this guy being Bronze 5 starts to make more sense.
Espcecially when you play a hero liek widowmaker
this looks like a player who has played a lot of other fps games because his aim is a lot better than anything else
this guy plays better widow than some of my mates in masters
Positionning is really important in overwatch, maybe even more than aiming. I'm saying this because I was stuck into platinum for years in overwatch 1, probably for this reason. My aim has always been pretty good, but very questionnable positionning and game sense. Not as bas as this widow positionning tho, and honestly I think he's more like ~1800-2000SR based on overwatch 1 ranking.
10:30 orb got caught lackin
Im a plat wido and i for some reason cant get the simple shot but every now and then i pop off like crazy. I think they could be in gold, the only probablem is the way they move around. And could lower the aim speed could probably make it better.
I saw " Widowmaker with the best aim " and then I realized it actually said " Bronze widowmaker ", I felt relieved.
I feel like this guys aim is directly tied to how much danger he's in, easy shots he can't hit but after grappling head first into a reaper he starts landing headshots, certainly funny at least
I appreciate all your knowledge on maps and certain micro adjustments and what to look for
2:02 my guy thinks hes spiderman ;D
i agree with others' comments. many bronze stay in bronze due to positioning, target priority, and other decision-making. i used to be >500 SR bronze. literally, it said >500. now, MY aim is atrocious but getting better (used to play at 12-26 fps, now at 144 fps). but my game sense is much better than my peers'. every other game, i have 3+ of my teammates (or the other team) die to a dva bomb where the dva ulted in place. or where the mercy's 1hp and out of position and no one but me tries to punish her for it.
bronze gameplay comes across as a "confuse the enemy" tactic but in reality, they just don't make the best decisions. but the enemy team won't completely punish them for those decisions, bc they're making equal but opposite bad decisions lol but you should've seen it back in october. i was playing at the rank that people were first starting the game and learning the characters. it was ASTOUNDING the shit i saw lmao
his aim is so wildly inconsistent its funny. one second he hits five headshots in a row, the next he absolutely whiffs ten shots on quick succession
He’s clearly got the game sense of a between a bronze 1-5 trying to grapple onto points etc but has the game play of a plat or maybe a bit higher, wouldn’t be surprised if he has been a COD player picking up OW2 when it launched
When ur widow always depends on ur luck when aiming xD
Looks like he never heard of the bronze 5 glitch
As a low ELO widow (silver), a lot of us have very inconsistent aim. I can go on hotstreaks and be godly, or I could miss a Roadhog that's standing still 20m away.
I really hope this guy isn't actually plat - this movement and gamesense I would never want in my plat games (on my team) lol
Widow hits more shots than me in plat
its harder the higher you go
Well people are quite good at clicking stuff today.
They did have good aim but with cool-down management like that and the positioning at times even in silver they would get heavily punished I think.
as an unranked person who spends 99% of their time in quick play… unranked bc i cant win comp games, played my first one back in season 2 and never touched it again bc i lost. i won my first comp game yesterday after playing like 5+ games with my duo💀💀
although, i’m not a dps or tank, i main mercy and i wouldn’t say i’m amazing but i’m decent, i’m usually the person with the most heals and assists and least deaths, although that’s not always the case
this is definitely how i play widow lmfao
that aim and tracking is muuuuuuuuuuuch better than mine and im high plat - mid diamond depending on how serious i am lmaoo
Can you analyze higher elo widows like diamond? I wanna know what k need to do to get back to masters
