It's easier to push the plastic pins for the bumper pads from underneath the bumper. I wouldn't try to just pry them up. Too easy to break them.

Great video. I just purchased 2004 Tacoma 4x2 SR5 (139k mi), that we'll be fixing and customizing a bit, so you got a new subscriber. Family lugger and my son can run to the beach and school in it.

Video is a big help. At 4:57 you show the bolt holding a plastic piece. I need to replace that bolt. I know the socket needed for the bolt is 10mm, but I need help with the metric thread size of that bolt. Can you please help me?

Interesting and easy to follow video - I will be replacing a bumper soon. What size drive or model number is the Milwaukee impact tool?

This product is limited to just that part. In any swap job like this, chances are you need many other related items replaced at the same time due to rust of steel and breakage of plastic. Those little things that hold the license plate light screws in place, you touch them, they break. The plastic clips that hold on the top plastic parts... easy break. Most of the bolts will be rusted and will break or be ruined enough to warrant replacement. I recommend getting a product that comes as a full kit including the mounts, the brackets, the hardware, the plastic, the inner support, etc. for only a very slightly increased price (all that for around $280 for chrome). It will save you soooooo many headaches and delays. I encourage this company to sell it like this.

I'd agree. I have a 2007 and just replaced both the trailer hitch and bumper. EVERYTHING was rusted to the point the hitch broke off. Luckily, my frame was replaced due to a recall several years ago but they did not replace the hitch. What that meant was the bolts came out fairly easy. I searched high and low and finally found the two large step bolts at Toyota South P/N 90119-A0194 and 90178-A0056. You should also replace the 14 attaching bolts. Of note, because both the hitch and the bumper were not OEM, I had to use a lot of persuasion to get the bumper on but it finally went on with a big hammer and large all to line up the bolt holes. Good luck!

Straight forward installation. Do you know if it's a difference in rear bumpers if it's a Prerunner. I have a 2012 Tacoma Prerunner and when I google rear bumper, cheaper bumpers show up, but once it asks me submodel and I type PreRunner. It says not compatible. Most companies say it's the same, but I have tried a couple of them and it seems to line up good with the left side of the bed, but seems to stick out a little further on the right side of the bed.

The pre-runner is a little smaller which is why you are probably having some fitment issues with the width of the bumper. You can either slightly modify the mounting locations on a normal front bumper, or will need to get a specific pre-runner rear bumper. Hope this helps!

what if you got park assist sensors ?

    • @ExtremeTerrainToyota

This rear bumper wouldn't accommodate the sensors so you wouldn't be able to swap them over.
