The US reviews have been very very good for the CX90. When compared to the usual FWD driving the rear wheels the CX90 will be miles ahead. That 3.3 inline 6 does sound delicious ❤️ As long as Mazda and get people to drive it they will sell here and in the USA

Mazda’s are fun and nice but to me, they haven’t been able to sort their things out when it comes to the quality of the front suspension. I had a 2006 Mazda 6 and a 2017 CX-9, they pretty much had similar front suspension issues. I’d get a Lexus for something around this price tag.

I think the price is shockingly fair. Significantly cheaper than Q7, X5/7, GLE etc as well as some rivals. Also similar price to the much less sophisticated (and slower) Palisade. Not to mention it’ll probably hold its value much better. Definitely would buy if I were looking in this segment.
can i ask a question? if this car is not registered, even it is not going to public rd, but how to pay insurance? ie. if someone accidentally crash the car, is mazda aus pay the repair?
Looks like a nice car, and good value if you are looking at from a luxury car category. The 8ltr/100km claimed average fuel consumption makes sense when paired to a mild hybrid setup, but truth will be in the testing. 100k is not an everyday affordable family vehicle. The way Mazda is going (CX60,80,90) they will price themselves out of the main market, and be competing at the Merc, BWM etc end, including against luxury brand recognition. Mazda need to have a model that competes against including price the Toyota (e.g Kluger) , Subaru (Outback), Hyundai ( Santa Fe), Kia (Sorrento) , Tesla (Model Y). As kids get taller (our 15yo is 10 cm off 6 foot), families will need the longer wheel base cars at an affordable price including electric/Hybrid, and Mazda doesn't have an affordable model in that segment. We are looking at moving from a Camry HL hybrid to one of the above in the next couple of years, as the Camry can't take the download of 4 ebikes. And, from researching the Subaru outback is top of list due to being a great value comfortable car with excellent towbar download , the rumoured Outback hybrid using Toyota's hybrid system (Toyota own a percentage of Mazda), would be a great package (Mazda could do the same due to Toyota owning a percentage of Mazda, which would be great in a CX80).
Beautiful. Until when Mazda will stay with this design? Will it abruptly change to totally different design in the future? Or will they evolve gradually on new upcoming models? Can’t wait for their new CX-5. When is the full model change scheduled to be launched?
Great car but about 10 years too late, inline six in the era of electric vehicles... Also noticed no upper thigh cushion adjustment, and lumbar support is only 2 way. A proper luxury SUV needs that! I'm also noticing a lot of road noise in Paul's drive - not sure if it's a mic issue or typical Mazda crappy insulation...
you should also point out a brand new skyactive-X 3.0 liter inline 6 for our european market as well. for now we only have the cx60 that is now offered with the 2.5 PHEV and the 3.3 diesel ,and the cx80 coming in about a years time ,with probably the premiere of the 3.0 skyactive-X to our market.
For all those german loving car owners, one thing to note, at least with a Mazda, its made in Japan. Its anyones guess where BMW Merc etc are made. Most in Mexico for our market.
In regards to economy, a well made 6 cylinder can be economical. My M140i could return fuel consumption of high 5s per 100 and a long term average of 8 litres per 100, I did thrash it too.
@@OlyMar83 Long term average for 40'000km was 8.1 per 100km. Driving to work in eco involved stop lights and maximum speed of an 80 zone and would get 7.2 - 8 per 100. Driving on long freeway drives I could get as low as 5.8 per 100.... don't believe me, I don't care, just sharing.

While consumers have not been told yet, EV's are finished. Good to see six cylinder engines coming forward. These prices are too high for me though. Can I ask, what is the cheapest of these new Mazda 6 cylinder inline vehicles?
EVs are not finished. They are selling like bunnings snags on a school holiday when every dad is in the mood to do a reno. Mazda also released the PHEV version alongside this in the US which afaik is more popular (take this with a grain of salt though). Mazda are pretty late to EV introduction but are still getting ready for the switch.
@@bobateacuber7646 Polls in Europe show a 30% drop in interest in EVs. This is because of substantial issues surrounding their use. That is why Agenda 2030 a d Net Zero government regulations have been pushed back to 2035 but the smart money is saying that EVs will be dropped.

Realistically this is the main point. Hyundai Palisades cost like nearly 90K for their top trims. Mazda is also trying to bring itself upmarket. Everything is getting more expensive, a 100K mazda isn’t that strange especially for how nice it looks.

@@steveallen1340 thanks I wasn't sure if that was the case. Normally US spec vehicles are only in a dual MPH/Km/h guise, & I thought that this ond may have been a Canadian spec vehicle.
They need to put this into a car, but I'm not sure what Mazda could put a 6 into. What would be a good Mazda for a 6.... Mazda 6 is what I'm getting at ...
Instead of just comparing the Germans I'd really like to see this go head to head with the GV80. I've heard good things about the ownership experience under Genesis, whereas at the end of the day, you're still in a Mazda that doesn't have that off-shoot higher end experience that Hyundai has tried to achieve.
I had a GV80 Prestige for a year. The ownership experience was awful and we sold it after a year. That auto ran awful in cold Canadian winters (we park our auto’s outdoors year-round). The engine ran extremely rough in temps lower than -25 celsius and the tranny would not work at times… it would not go into gear (all electronic controlled). There were also 8 other units all having problems with a no-heat/hvac issue when we got rid of ours. The dealership had no fix for the issue and was waiting on Hyundai Korea to come up with a solution. We went a month and a half in the dead of an Alberta winter with no heat! This was the deciding factor to sell it back to them. The service at the dealership was also horrendous but our Genesis dealer was shared out of an old, run-down, crowded Hyundai dealer.
The only thing I would say is don't sweat on the fuel economy figures so much. Big car, big engine and big power are more important to the buyer than achieving low economy numbers. Mazda have other cars for those buyers who prioritise fuel economy.
$100k? The Mazda website shows the cx90 'Turbo S premium' is approximately $62k without extras which can certainly add up, but wouldn't even push it over $70k.
Thanks for the video Paul. Definitely the in-line 6 is designed for keen drivers, diesel for occasional towing or touring around Australia. The hybrid for the city dwellers with the occasional interstate crossing. The 90 doesn’t appear to be a all terrain vehicle. Though if more people ask for it the may produce it in the few years. All Americans cars of late has a panic button on the remote key. The size of the appears to be similar to a BMW X5 than a X7. I feel Mazda may be a little late with the 6 cylinders turbo as petroleum prices edging higher. Like most turbos vehicles with high cylinders compression it requires at least 95 octane or better and in the United States 89 or better 93. Octane calculations are different in America.
Looks amazing. Considering getting this for my wife. Only problem is we have 2 young boys and I would cry knowing how much damage they would do to that beautiful interior :(
There is a lot of anger around my comment, I am not sure why. Interest in EVs in Europe has dropped by a third and governments are turning against them as their issues start to be realised. If I am reporting documented issues, why would someone be angry with me? I don't get it.

Car and driver 10 best winner for sure. Can’t wait for the cx70
Holy shiiiit the Mazda Barra!!! Can't wait to see what else that sweet inline 6 gets put into.
Yes sir.. finally.. got a fresh update .. good morning sir Paul.. ohh.. I'm from South Africa sir the content is always on point thank u
Some advice, don't stop at red lights at night😅.
$90k to $100k is probably right - somewhere in between the top-level non-premium SUVs (CX-5 etc), and the x5 which starts at around $130k.
Did you notice any transmission clunkiness on the CX-90 at low speeds, particularly when braking near parking speed?
Your spot on "Big and Old" with its straight 6.
@paul can you get twin colour on 7 seat version with 3 in second row ? If not, how good the black tone looks ?
Can you please find the time to test drive the Cupra Formentor please.
Please, please, please.
I think the price is shockingly fair. Significantly cheaper than Q7, X5/7, GLE etc as well as some rivals. Also similar price to the much less sophisticated (and slower) Palisade. Not to mention it’ll probably hold its value much better. Definitely would buy if I were looking in this segment.
can i ask a question? if this car is not registered, even it is not going to public rd, but how to pay insurance? ie. if someone accidentally crash the car, is mazda aus pay the repair?
no way on this planet i would pay 100k for Mazda but give credit where its due and they are making some impressive quality and stylish vehicles now
Much anticipated!
I'd choose this mazda over volvo or any second tier european suv.
Has Paul tested the cx60? Can not find it?
In line 6. About time. Loathe v6 engines. Can’t wait!
Beautiful. Until when Mazda will stay with this design? Will it abruptly change to totally different design in the future? Or will they evolve gradually on new upcoming models?
Can’t wait for their new CX-5. When is the full model change scheduled to be launched?
Single digit CX models are dead and won't be getting new generations. The CX-90 will replace the CX-9 and the CX-60 the CX-5, CX-30 the CX-3.
Can't wait for the CX-60 the review especially the inline 6 diesel
Fantastic looking machine!!!!!
Do you always wear your watch on your right hand or you hardly wear one?
Looking forward to having a test drive for its diesel version.
you should also point out a brand new skyactive-X 3.0 liter inline 6 for our european market as well. for now we only have the cx60 that is now offered with the 2.5 PHEV and the 3.3 diesel ,and the cx80 coming in about a years time ,with probably the premiere of the 3.0 skyactive-X to our market.
For all those german loving car owners, one thing to note, at least with a Mazda, its made in Japan. Its anyones guess where BMW Merc etc are made. Most in Mexico for our market.
Another wicked review, thank you 🙏
In regards to economy, a well made 6 cylinder can be economical. My M140i could return fuel consumption of high 5s per 100 and a long term average of 8 litres per 100, I did thrash it too.
Around town or freeway driving? Even then those numbers are hard to believe if you were trashing it.
Post a video bro
@@OlyMar83 Long term average for 40'000km was 8.1 per 100km. Driving to work in eco involved stop lights and maximum speed of an 80 zone and would get 7.2 - 8 per 100. Driving on long freeway drives I could get as low as 5.8 per 100.... don't believe me, I don't care, just sharing.
@@akent46 from that description that’s not trashing it. Don’t share lies maybe aye bro
@@OlyMar83 I thrash it on weekend drives and a few occasions on daily commute. It's just info for ppl who aren't trolls bro... don't believe me, couldn't give a fuck lol 😘
Also, if I wasn't thrashing it at all my overall usage would be much less; as the manufacturer claim validates. The B58 is very economical overall, awesome tech.
Hey Paul, is there a review for the scorpio coming through please?
is the suspension adaptive ?
never thought id say this but what a juicy bit of kit! going to have many a beer now and lie down
No adaptive suspension, at least not in America.
Thank you for reviewing the car 👍
Looks like they haven’t gone face level vents for third row still. Very useful in a hot Australian climate.
Does the turbo 3.3 petrol suffer from turbo lag ?
Any idea when the PHEV version lands in OZ? And what the PHEV price will be?
While consumers have not been told yet, EV's are finished. Good to see six cylinder engines coming forward. These prices are too high for me though. Can I ask, what is the cheapest of these new Mazda 6 cylinder inline vehicles?
EVs selling in record numbers.
You're talking crap
Great review - Premium colours go for $995.00 though!
100k use to be the price tag for luxury cars, now it seems you can't get much for anything under 60k
they got to recoup the R&D for the new 6 cylinder so most of mazdas cars with this motor is going to cost a premium.
Yeah, and petrol used to be 67cents.
And houses were $50k.
And salaries were $30,000/year.
@@oggyoggy1299 Gas wasn't .67 cents pre covid but cars were a lot cheaper than now. You might want to keep up with industry developments. Cars are more expensive than ever because of the higher manufacturing costs, for everything from raw materials to wages. Add inflation and the high interest on loans now, you'd be a sucker to buy in current market.
Realistically this is the main point. Hyundai Palisades cost like nearly 90K for their top trims. Mazda is also trying to bring itself upmarket. Everything is getting more expensive, a 100K mazda isn’t that strange especially for how nice it looks.
@@bobateacuber7646 It's still a Mazda no matter how nice it looks. Will never appeal to people that shop in this price bracket.
Hope it has more leg room in the front driver and passenger than the cx60
Mazda is basically making a BMW but better. Ever since their Kodo design introduction, they have been on a roll with their cars. Really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for the future.
Also I think this is the same car they were building in their short movie series
It does have a touchscreen which can be turned on but only for Android auto and airplay
this one does not have touchscreen it but you can operate it via swivel wheel but it took sometime but it was easy-to-use

Love the interior
are there 3rd row air vents? I cant see any hmm
Hey mate, that must be a Canadian spec with a Km speedo . Unless it can be switched as needed from Km to Miles . Unfortunately Sirius travel link isn't available here in Aus. But it looks like a pretty good vehicle & maybe it could be worth what Mazda here will charge for it.
The digital dash could easily be switched, I noticed the climate settings are still in freedom units.
@@steveallen1340 thanks I wasn't sure if that was the case. Normally US spec vehicles are only in a dual MPH/Km/h guise, & I thought that this ond may have been a Canadian spec vehicle.
Crazy price for a Mazda
They need to put this into a car, but I'm not sure what Mazda could put a 6 into.
What would be a good Mazda for a 6....
Mazda 6 is what I'm getting at ...
Howdoes it compare with the VW toureg
CX9 2.5 turbo is very thirsty.....so if the 3.3 turbo mild hybrid is more fuel efficient than it, then that is quite good =)
Why worry about fuel efficiency when you can afford $100K car?
Will the CX-90 ever get the diesel engine (if not in AU anywhere else)?
The diesels are confirmed for australia
Instead of just comparing the Germans I'd really like to see this go head to head with the GV80. I've heard good things about the ownership experience under Genesis, whereas at the end of the day, you're still in a Mazda that doesn't have that off-shoot higher end experience that Hyundai has tried to achieve.
You read my mind! Love to see it against you the GV80
Maybe Mazda should launch an Amati range for its premium models.
Would take a Genesis over this any day. Mazda has a DCT transmission, no thanks!
@@beri232 hey thanks for sharing. Certainly the opposite of what they would have you believe.
That is one good looking car. ❤
That sounds like USA pricing not Australia.
even US is priced too high, it’s CA$ 63k for top trim in Canada while it’s $61k US for the same trim😢
Only problem is we have 2 young boys and I would cry knowing how much damage they would do to that beautiful interior :(
Then you should consider getting the black only interior instead. Easier to clean and harder to see finger prints, etc.
hello Paul, I would like you to do a review on the Audi A8L please
There is a lot of anger around my comment, I am not sure why. Interest in EVs in Europe has dropped by a third and governments are turning against them as their issues start to be realised. If I am reporting documented issues, why would someone be angry with me? I don't get it.
just love that color
Is the straight six an improvement over a V6 ?
Yes. More engine balance, better fuel consumption, easier maintenance...only down side is taking up more space in the engine bay area.
considering new pathfinder is 90k plus,100k is nothing special
