    That’s why you always gotta push a pawn to make sure your king is safe

      Not always. If you're sure you're opponent cannot sneak a rook or queen in the backpack for the next few moves or if your own rook or queen is present, you really don't need to rush to push a pawn.

      that sometimes creates more attack opportunities though

      Sometimes that pawn will make huge weakness in your possision

    I beat a 2000 rated once from a mouse slip resulting in a back rank mate
    Proudest moment of my life in Chess

    best thing to do for black is move any of the 3 pawns so the king has an escape square

      well it’s better to move the middle and edge of board one than the other one as queen can checkmate as well if they move into the 2 square besides the king

      With the move h6

      @@Gigachad_967 g6 may also work in some situations as long as you watch out for white's dark squared bishop (or its been traded off)

    Even though it’s a very basic mate, I still felt good getting the solution insantly

    You could also do Qg4 and then Qg8 and it’s checkmate

  • @BadChessPlayer1

    You could also just take the rook with rook then move queen...

    • @jdmagic
      @jdmagic Год назад +3

      Nope. If you take with rook you don't force a check, allowing the opponent to push one of the pawns in front of their king or somehow set up a move to avoid danger. When you move the queen, your opponent is in check, and their only legal move is captures with rook, and then that wins you the game. Order absolutely matters here.

    Why not rook on a1 kill other rook and then mate?

  • @__________________________....

    I had this pawn structure before and I had to trade a queen for a rook not to be back rank mated
