- This week Plant Lovers I was lucky enough to buy two large divisions of the pink and white form of Dendrobium Bohemian Rhapsody, a primary hybrid between Dendrobium loddigesii and Dendrobium aphyllum. Now I haven't had MUCH luck with these cooler climate winter rest Himalayan Dendrobiums for some reason, even though they should THRIVE in my conditions! Hopefully this hybrid will love life in Melbourne! I killed, quite successfully, my Dendrobium aphyllum, and my Dendrobium loddigesii decided not to bloom this year, after two good bloom years! So in this video we'll re-pot the two plants I received and take a look at the two species ancestors and the blend of characteristics that the hybrid exhibits.
Did anyone else spot the huge case moth caterpillar dangling in the first clip?
😂
Love your vids Mathew 💚
I wondered if any one would notice that! It's so complicated & sculptural!
Loved the reading
Thanks for watching!
Hi Matthew, thanks for your videos, I learn a lot from you 💖 Last summer I got an orchid that was assumed to be Bohemian rhapsody, and it was blooming on the canes that had leaves and not on the bare ones, so maybe it's identified incorrectly... I'm waiting for spring (I 'm in Northern hemisphere, so it's winter here now) to see if it will bloom again😅
Good luck! I haven't actually seen these blooms so we'll both have to wait and see! Thanks for watching!
Very interesting Mathew . I like the name ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!

I think those keikis may be too small to thrive! Very exciting haul though!

Hi Michael😌🙌Yes, those dendrobium hybrids are beautiful💖A Southern growing area is the best for orchids👍It's a shame your dendrobium loddigesii didn't flower, but then again😌🙏I enjoyed watching🤲🌟
