Glenn Miller Birthplace Society Scholarship Contest Award Winners | Nick Hilscher Special Award

On June 9, 2023, at the Glenn Miller Festival in Clarinda, Iowa, The instrumental and vocal winners of the scholarship competition performed their award-winning performances before the audience and then received their awards. Former director of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Nick Hilscher, received a well-deserved lifetime membership award from the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society.

I'm thrilled to see that the GMBS IS still giving these awards. I was a member for 25 years and finally got too old to come, but I was honored to meet Irene Miller Wolfe and daughter Jonny with her husband and children. We hung the curtains in the house!
It was the highpoint of my long, 93 year life. Discovered The Glenn Miller sound when I was 9 and still listen most days..
