Hey Demina! Web hosting is a server (or beefy computer) that houses your website files. When a user types in your domain name, their computer connects to your web hosting server and downloads the necessary files to display your website. Email hosting is much the same - it holds the actual email files on a server so you can read your emails. Think of it this way: purchasing a domain name is purchasing the RIGHT to use yourdomain.com, and purchasing web/email hosting is like leasing a building to put your actual website in. All websites on the internet live on a server somewhere in order to load.

Hello! Great video ... I am not interested in a website at this time however I want to have exclusive rights to my business name... do I have to buy everything or can I just buy what I need now!
You definitely do not need to buy web hosting, a website builder, email hosting, etc. You can simply buy a domain name and nothing else. That way, no one else can buy your domain name and it's safe for when you're ready to build your website.
Hi Christian, cheers for helping out the novice. Bit late for me aka Godaddy. I then signed up with a place called zyro, are they any good? Trying to setup a site to sell a few book novels etc. Should I start from scratch and learn WP? cheers

Do you recommend name cheap or domain name for a domain name? Which one gives free protection? Also is it easier to set up the domain name using wix? Lastly what do you recommend for the email address?

It's totally up to you whether you prefer to have all your domains at one registrar or don't mind having them spread out. I like to keep mine in one place, but that's my personal preference. Since Google Domains has gone out of business, I now recommend Hover if you want the easiest, most convenient option, or Porkbun if you don't mind a slight learning curve for the dashboard. 90% of my domains are at Porkbun these days.
Help Christian - I'm wanting to get a website with Wix. Should I buy the domain thru them or buy it with name cheap first? Your videos are so helpful; you're trusted!~

If you are not going to be using 3rd party email hosting (besides Hostinger), pointing to Hostinger's nameservers would be easiest. If you go the manual DNS route, I would highly recommend using Cloudflare. It offers a lot of speed and security benefits for free and is a no brainer for manual DNS management.

It sounds like a cloud hosting platform would be best for you. Hosts like Digital Ocean, AWS, and Microsoft Azure offer great managed database hosting that's highly scalable. If the cost is too high on that, you can still get a basic VPS for around $5/mo, install MySQL or whatever SQL solution you're using, and deploy an elastic storage volume that is infinitely scalable as your database grows.
