Thanks for this video!! I use Google Domains, it is very easy to use and the prices are excellent and very easy to attach with your hosting provider, and everything is under your own Google account.
Definitely! And most importantly, you have 100% control over your domain name. I have never trusted third parties. Thank you very much for the TIP on how to hide your identity for free when you buy a domain, a couple of days ago I bought a domain with the TDL mydomain.US all my information was exposed, ALL !!! But it is impossible to do so since the ending .us is only used by residents or citizens in the USA and your identity must be transparent and available to the public.
@@Craylor By the way Craylor, in the last tutorial you made a video how to start a SaaS business with a Link shortener, I found this Link shortener, can you review it? It is also very accurate at the time of detecting clicks on shortened links, since it offers 2 data, number of Clicks and Unique Clicks, that is essential if you want to have a real idea of unique visitors. @@healthyamerican I don't know of a way to sell a domain natively on Google Domains, but you can use a third-party service like Sedo or NamePros. I don't have any experience selling domain names though.
Hey! Thank you so much for this content, your channel has shown me in 1 hour the same information i spent a week looking at! Just wondering how I’d set up an email address with my domain name as the @ if i choose to use three separate providers like you have?
Great question! In that case, you'll need to handle DNS management manually either at your domain registrar, or by using a free solution like Cloudflare. I recommend watching these videos to learn more about DNS and Cloudflare: ruclips.net/video/MY9L9QFZhnU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Y1XURgz79nc/видео.html You'll essentially be taking the DNS records from your website (web host) and email hosting and entering them both into Cloudflare, then you will point your domain nameservers to Cloudflare at your domain registrar.
Hi Christian, thank you for your videos! I have a question: If I want to setup a website on let's say WordPress, do I need to have domain, webhosting and mailhosting on 3 separate platforms? You said you have webhosting on cloudways and your domain on namecheap. But is it bad to only use namecheap for both webhosting and domain since they provide it all at once? Or is it better to use another provider for webhosting?
Great question! There's absolutely nothing wrong with having everything under one roof and keeping your domain and web hosting at Namecheap. For more on the technical side of this decision, see my video explaining different types of DNS. And yes - you will need a domain and web hosting to use WordPress. Mail hosting is optional, you only need it if you want a custom email like yourname@yourdomain.com.
Hi Christian, thanks for all your content, very instructive! I wonder about premium DNS with Namecheap. What is your perspective in that regard? Thanks !! (-:
So I purchased a domain at wealthy affiliate and wanted to move my domain to a different web hosting, is that possible? by the way your videos deserves more views keep up the work bro!
Yes, you can absolutely transfer your domain to any registrar. Find the registrar you want to transfer to and initiate it on their side. They will ask for an authorization code which you will get from Wealthy Affiliate.
hello craylor made. would you mind doing a video showing how to sell a domain on namepros? there are no videos on youtube explaining how to do this, except one in hindi. thanks!
Thank you, Christian. Found your videos a few days ago and very glad!! I am now subscribed. QUESTION: I went to register different names and for each, I found out it was already purchased. It offers me the option of buying it ($199 minimum offer). Wondering if then it becomes 'mine' and I won't have to pay $199 every year, or that will be the price I pay onward. If it does then become mine, what price should I expect to pay each year?
Hey Donald! Great question. If the domain name is for sale by a third party, you would pay the purchase price to buy it from them, then you will pay the regular TLD renewal rate each year - NOT the purchase price. There are only two cases where you would pay an increased renewal price: 1. The registry that manages the domain extension deems it a "premium" domain and charges a higher wholesale price to each domain registrar. This would have to be disclosed to you that it's a premium domain, and you could ask your domain registrar for clarification if you aren't sure. 2. The private seller is LEASING you the domain instead of selling it to you. This is a rare practice where you would not gain control of the domain, you would simply pay a leasing fee to the current registrant who would point the domain name to your desired location as long as you pay them whatever fee they ask for. But in 90% of the cases, you would PURCHASE the domain name from a private seller, and the domain name will be transferred to you. Once that is the case, you pay the standard renewal rate that everyone else pays for domains.
If I upgrade on Wix will I get to pick my website name? Will the process be seamless? I don't want to have to rebuild my website at all. And will I get an email address I can use that has the domain name in it? Can I get multiple emails for a few of my volunteers too? And how much would this cost? If I miss a payment will my entire website vanish overnight? What I like about the free option is it is free for life.
There's a lot of questions here! Let's start with the domain ones: 1. If you upgrade your site with Wix and they include a free domain name (for the first year), the process will be seamless. The free website you've built with Wix will carry right over to yourdomain.com. 2. You can get an email address like hello@yourdomain.com. Wix sells this directly through Google Workspace ($6/month/email), but you can use a third party email host like Namecheap Private Email Hosting if you'd like. Note that if you go the third party route, the setup is *not* seamless and requires some work. I recommend watching my email hosting comparison and DNS explained videos to learn more about this. 3. Your website and domain name are two different aspects. If you miss a payment on your domain name (yourdomain.com), it typically is suspended immediately after the renewal date, but there is usually a 2-4 week grace period where you can renew it and restore service at any time before the domain name is made available for public registration again. As for your service with Wix to host your website (different from just your domain name), that depends on their suspension policy. If this is confusing, you might watch my video where I explain the basics of web hosting. I hope that helps!
Hi . I have one question. On trustpilot reviews namecheap - dynadot have the worst rating , godaddy and ionos have the best rating. Now the question is where to buy Domain names ? Which should i trust ? I can't decide.
One thing to consider is that Namecheap has less than 1,000 reviews, Dynadot has 80 reviews. GoDaddy has over 17,000 reviews, IONOS has nearly 13,000 reviews. What does that tell us? GoDaddy and IONOS are asking customers to leave reviews. Namecheap and Dynadot are not. Consumers typically only leave reviews without being asked if they have a negative experience, so if you aren't actively asking your customers to leave a review, you will probably have a low review count with mostly negative reviews. I'm not suggesting you should or shouldn't use Namecheap or Dynadot. I can confidently say that you should 100% stay away from GoDaddy. At the end of the day, a domain is a domain. You can have frustrating experiences at certain sites, but thankfully you can always transfer your domain name out to another site and find what works for you. Don't be scared to try a place if it looks like a good option to you. You can always change later.
What about Dynadot, are they fine? And if I already bought some domains from that site, can I use different tool to make the site, like wordpress or just pay someone to make my site?
Dynadot is a great place to buy domains. Absolutely, you can point your domain name anywhere. WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, etc. If you hire a web designer, they can handle pointing the domain where it needs to go.
@@Craylor Thanks a lot, i think it is better to hire someone, i do not want a simple, empty site, template or whatever, i think that is their job, everyone must do their part, so things are better :)
Absolutely! As long as it's from a main registrar like GoDaddy, Namecheap, Porkbun, etc. Places like Wix will only let you use your domain name for a Wix site, otherwise you have to transfer it out to another company before pointing it to your web host.
I always prefer a DNS setup that omits www. - note that www. is a deprecated subdomain system that isn't necessary on any URL anymore. I always make sure my websites support www. as a redirect to non www.
