imagine telling a story like this and making it seem like your the best ever and racing at high speeds that takes lots of skill, while racing other pro riders.... but in reality your riding the gayest looking, slowest piece of shit ever, and your racing 4 other bikes that go about 80mph tops, and the other riders are drunk 60 year olds... its so fucking cringy - casey you think your the best ever, but in reality your a loser wanna be.
I love Casey because he's just as whacky as anyone can be in the gear head world. His channel is great content also because he teaches kids engineering and fabrication. Even if he's half a loon, that's hero status in my book
Who thinks Casey should write a book? These adventures should definitely be recorded for posterity, and a good book might generate some much needed funds for GG
Really enjoyed this story! His genuine enthusiasm while telling it was great! "Go little guy go!" basically a moving rock! That part had my cheering for the 🐢!
I invited my dad to a race. The first one he had been to that I was in. My mechanic let him catch me in the pits. I turned off the engine and said "Waddaya think Dad?!" He said, "Son, you look like a fly on a horses ass on that thing!" Thanks dad. Placed 13th that day......
I love this guys stories! I love this channel! I have been watching VinWiki for like 3.5 years and have never watched a video I did not enjoy. Keep up the great work fellas!
Dude, what a disaster! I would think stuff like that could happen to me only. Well, your experience shows that persistence and dedication is the key to success. Congratulations on winning the championship!
Now you own a certified Championship vintage motorcycle. Driving its value up considerably! A championship run for approx 3k? Worth twice that easy. Living vicariously through you sir. A great motorcycling tale.
Ive always really enjoyed listening to Casey's stories, but this one is definitely my favourite. In no way do i doubt what Casey is saying however there's a couple of key points worth raising here. AMA national historic racing is an ultra competitive series especially at the pointy end of the field. The top 10 guys in each class are nearly always ex national superbike race winners from recent years or current big name young guns from the SBK and SS classes. Im not calling Casey a liar because you can clearly see him up on the podium with a microphone jammed in his face but lets be real for a moment, Unless Caseys last name is "Stoner" (2 x MOTOGP CHAMP) there is simply no chance in hell someone could just show up to a National AMA Championship round and defeat guys like Josh Heyes, Larry Pegram and Taylor Knapp im sorry it just doesn't happen. I would of liked Casey to of mentioned what class he rode in and what year this round was. Those results are easily checked giving Caseys story even more credibility. Im not trying to discredit Caseys riding / racing talent as its obviously well above average, but non bike people need to know just how amazingly fast the top guys really are.
Not on the same level as you, but the day I did my first motorcycle trackday I had to ride there in pissing down rain with norovirus and chronic nerves, and just about made it through the day. So I totally know how you felt on that school day!
Casey, your telling of these events in your life always makes me smile the first time and laugh after the second time I liaten to them. And Rabbits used car tales dont hold a candle to yours!
Great story VINWIKI! Casey certainly has some good ones from his career! Just hope when I hit the track on two it's not raining and I have a starter with a push button lol! Till the next one! 🤘TEXAS!!!
Dammmmn, this was even worse than my first moto track day on my 05 R1, where it stormed so badly that only myself and about 4 other people actually went on track. Doing 130 on the "straight" at Heartland Park in 70 degree weather and a torrential downpour made all my subsequent track experiences nirvana by comparison.
I remember getting my AMA license and racing endorsement, I was fourteen and in Minnesota it was two fees and 20 minutes. This is just an example of how unorganized motorcycle racing is. (This was for motocross)
Have you done a top 10 cannonball stories? That would be an entertaining video. John ficarra nearly crying in the "last 2904" video would have to be top 3
Good story, Casey! I think the lesson of don’t over think it- just do it can apply to so much of what we do. Prep as much as you can but when you’re in the moment just do it.
Great story! Done minimal track time in my Datsun but, lotsa track time on my GSXR. Track days and road racing schools so, I can relate. Most fun track day was chasing David Aldana around Road Atlanta on identical brand new 1996 GSXR750s!
See, sucking it up for the bad days is sandbagging for the good days!!! Some days, the universe has a funny way of doing the right thing, just at the right moment, for the guy doing it the right way!
Casey, dude, it is so rad that you do your own thing. The whole VinWiki group does, but your style is so eclectic and your message of overthrowing the rich, old dudes is just what the generation in GG needs. Keep being kick-ass and changing the world through GG.
For motorcycles, I want to do some dualsport rides in Baja. Car wise, I'd like to get my 67 Jeep Gladiator restored to running condition. Blue-sky fantasy... I'd like to build a LoCost 2+2
That sounds -- with the exception of winning a national championship -- quite a bit like my first race weekend. I foolishly built a super-bike Hawk NT650 - pulled out the entire charging system, ran a total loss battery (what a mistake), pulled out the starter, built a tiny, very light cro-moly subframe, built a ridiculously loud and hard to tune megaphone exhaust, HYOOOGE brakes (which were great, btw) RaceTech fairing and seat... yep! The whole magilla. Trying to push-start a bike in the pits, missing warm up laps, etc. etc. My first year of racing was about learning how to run a race team, and less about learning how to ride fast. And of course, I had friends who were running bone stock Hawks, spending their money on track time & tires, and were going faster. I still love it and miss it... but that ship has sailed.
When I look at your action shots I can’t help but think, “I know he’s not a huge guy, but he looks like the classic bear on a tricycle” followed by, “wow, John Surtees must be nigh on a MIDGET!”
I had a regional AMA number back in the day, did short track and TT racing around the tracks in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois. Won the region not by winning every race, but by showing up to every race and scoring points. Never placed higher than third.
👽 I thought I had some good bike stories and heard some good ones over the years but it doesn't get any better than this. When you do the best you can when you can everything works out good for you.
Casey: *mentions turtle*
Me: *disappointed there’s no picture of the turtle*
Same!
Tortuga.
Picturing a 🐢 in a different spot each time you make a lap 🤣🤣🤣
"I like turtles"
I swear I paid special attention to all pics afterwards looking forward the turtle 😂
You know, when Casey doesn't wear a hat, he looks like a stereotypical crazy uncle
At some point you just have to own the fact that you're bald. The hats aren't fooling anyone.
@@beamdriver5 He looks great with that hat tho
And don't we all love that crazy uncle.
Nah, he looks like a younger version of my cousin Frank.
That’s not a bad thing; Frank’s loaded.
@BeerQuest crazy uncle, shit..... 2:35 he looks like a goddamn serial killer 🤣
Good stories don't come from the times when everything goes right!

Happened to me doing SCCA autocross lol

“I got my license a week ago and bought this bike on Ebay.”
Got to start somewhere lol
From a guy that ONLY follows MotoGP, this my friend was an AMAZING story !!!
Thank you for sharing !
Only Casey could manage to win a championship by accident!
I love Casey because he's just as whacky as anyone can be in the gear head world. His channel is great content also because he teaches kids engineering and fabrication. Even if he's half a loon, that's hero status in my book
Only half? :) thanks man!
We need more motorcycle related stories!
Yeah! Would appreciate a larger diversity of motorcycle content from VinWiki, not just from car guys
I’m sure the scene in The Terminator where Arnold fiddles around with his eye using a scalpel causes Casey flashbacks
Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that suck when you’re on them. :)
I hope to be able to share my own motorcycle story with you one day, Casey.
Its called type 2 fun
do you still race this bike? it'd be fun to see videos
Formula1 Fan ????????
I'm sure your pop was proud, better than a dad that congratulates you for insignificant things.
As a motorcycle enthusiast and salesman, I want more of these stories please! Id be happy to contribute!
I'm not a bike person by any means but this was really an amazing story.
Who thinks Casey should write a book? These adventures should definitely be recorded for posterity, and a good book might generate some much needed funds for GG
Damn right, having done motorbike trackdays, I was grinning all the way through. I can really identify with how he felt on that school day!
Love it! I became an Australian National offshore powerboat champion in much the same way. I gave up the sport the next day.....
Really enjoyed this story! His genuine enthusiasm while telling it was great! "Go little guy go!" basically a moving rock! That part had my cheering for the 🐢!

I'm assuming he meant it as a compliment, saying you looked like you were comfortable driving?
"It's not how you start, It's how you finish"
My friend is an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and I plan on showing him this video. Casey's stories are right up there with Doug Tabbutt imo.
Casey slips and falls into greatness! Well done.
This is the equivalence of a random joining your game with a default skin so you are just memeing on him util he bloody destroy everyone around you.
Loving the lycan build Casey! Thanks Ed!

Casey is a never ending stream of enjoyable stories.
What a badass main character line: "I just won the national championship on my first try"
This man is gonna do some amazing Grandad story times
This is just another example of why I absolutely love motorcycles. They make amazing memories and stories like this. Gret job
Dad was probably thinking "heh, of course he did"

1 minute of adverts for 15 minute video. Screw watching RUclips on my phone, I’ve been taking adblocker for granted!
4:50 "there was only going to be three sessions that day and I missed both" 😂
That's something Yogi Berra would've said!
Great story Casey!
That was a Great Story, Casey! Just the thing to warm my heart on a chilly Sunday afternoon. Thank you for sharing. Cheers.
I don't know if there are other motorcycle stories on vinwiki, and if there isn't then this one set a pretty high bar

Awesome story! I can’t believe anyone would thumbs down this story! Must be the guys that didn’t show up for race 1. 😂
