Anemone was a sweet little girl who experienced trauma at a very young age and was unable to cope with it until she talked to someone who both truly knew what she was thinking and wanted nothing more than for her to be free of the burden.
*Anemone started out as a scared, sweet, and innocent child literally bound to her mother’s side and losing her soul for her.* Then one day when she realized she had to get out of it for the good of the world, she accidentally executed someone who would’ve jeopardized that hope. As much as he deserved it, and as better off the world was without him, *it didn’t stop the traumatic impact that killing him would leave on the poor girl in the future.*
Months later when she is freed from her burden, *her fragile mind still struggles to cope with what she did back then.* And she can’t talk about it with anyone because she doesn’t know any who would understand. After all, no one else has the gift like she does. The only way she could make things easier on herself was by pushing her sweet innocent nature aside and putting on a mask of spunk and brattiness that we know of in Arc 2. *Note that this Anemone, the one that is completely different from the innocent cinnamon roll we loved back in Book 2, is not really the way Anemone is now. It’s just an act.* She’s just putting on a tough face to to hide her insecurities, which involves complaining about the little things to avoid thinking about the big things like a princess who is too spoiled to worry about anything. It’s the only way she can stop focusing on her trauma.
And then, an opportunity arrives. An ancient animus who seems to have everything figured out, comes out of the ground and offers to take her under his wing. Finally, someone who might understand her and be willing to help her has come into her life. Her worries can finally be put to rest. However, as she travels with him more, he seems to neglect her and focus more on other things. And then, as her new idol casts her aside like she’s not worth his time anymore, she feels as if everything is hopeless.
*Anemone has been afraid of one thing this whole time: turning evil.* Every story of those who possess the gift like hers end in misery. Her ancestor caused a massacre on his own tribe, her sister was power-hungry for the throne, and all the others either disappeared or ended up alone. How could she possibly hope for a better fate? The acts of making Kinkajou love Turtle or assaulting Moonwatcher with a broom was just a part of Anemone’s breakdown of seeing that she’ll just fall victim to her own magic regardless of what she tries to do to prevent it, making what she does to others now seem basically irrelevant. All that’s left to determine is how soon she snaps.
She thought that she would end up attacking her tribe and family no matter what. So why delay the inevitable? The sooner she gets it over with, the better. Maybe by then she can accept everything for the way things are. But then something truly revolutionary happened just in the nick of time.
It turns out that all along, there was someone else who *both understood her worries AND cared for her well-being:* her older brother. After an outburst from coming to terms that she’s only special because someone else selfishly altered her course for his own benefit (a repeating occurrence that had been happening in her life), she finally let herself speak her true feelings about herself. She expressed her fear, her anger, and her desperation, and he understood it all. He told her what she needed to hear: that *she is as capable of learning from her mistakes as anyone else in the world,* powers or no powers.
And just like that, she seems to turn pretty much all the way back to her sweet and innocent self that we remember from Book 2. After the worldly chaos is resolved once again, she can finally breathe peacefully. No more burden, no more fear, just her and the happy world around her. She no longer needs a mask of spunk and brattiness to distract her from herself. She can finally BE herself without having troubled thoughts. She willingly donates a ton of her treasure to those who need it more, fixes the damage she put on others during her outrage, and makes a real effort to befriend dragons from other tribes.
This is the real Anemone: someone who just wanted to experience the world like anyone else but was burdened at a very young age with something that most were unable to understand. *All she needed was to know that despite her ability, she still had full control over her choices. And if she doesn’t want to turn evil, she doesn’t have to turn evil.*

Sweet? Maybe not. She battled with Turtle, enchanted the mop to whap Moon, used opals and sapphires to distract Darkstalker so he didn't come looking for her, and created an earring to make him find Anemone interesting instead.

I love so many of their songs, I honestly didn't even realise Heatwaves was popular until I heard it on the radio and my sister, who only likes the pop songs, was singing it.

Anemone is my #1 favorite WoF character ever, and although there are many animations about my precious pink baby, nobody really explores the side of her character that turned her from the wholesome child who yearned for freedom to the maniac she was in book nine. I’m happy this map finally did that and is now finished

My favorite map of all time - just popping in to say that! I especially love Bellasaurus' part and the part where the rock nearly falls on Turtle (I forget who animated the latter) All the animations and designs are awesome and unique! And the song fits perfectly.
