Great video. Do you have any idea how to return panel with display to panel with buttons, so that the small copper contact parts, not pops out of their socket?
Hello, thank you for posting this video, it is very helpful. In my case the wire connectors in my 2003 530 have never been removed, as such the one with two tabs on each side and the one with no tab are stuck shut in there. I have tugged very hard and no budging. I was wondering if you have any solution, may be a spray of some sort that would loosen up the connectors. Thank you in advance for any idea.
Thanks for the easy to follow steps. But I got a question quick. I have a 2003 540i and my heater had been going at full blast while my climate control unit’s display had been shut off and none of the buttons I had been pressing have been working or turning it back on. I had bought a new final staging unit believing that was the problem because many people responded that way in the forums but it didn’t resolve the issue. I was thinking of replacing the cc unit itself but before spending even more money on this car I’d like to actually have an idea of what to do that’ll work. Any ideas?
Thanks , I have a question when it's removed do you have acces to the rear of the radio ? (For adding Bluetooth cd module without getting the radio out (broken system) ) thanks
Does the battery need to be unplugged when you're putting in a new unit? Do you think that it could fry the mother board if I plugged it in with the battery still connected?
+Jonathan Leiva It's always a good practice to disconnect the battery when working with electronics in a vehicle. But it's a very slim chance the HVAC panel was damaged by removing it when the battery was connected. Have you checked the fuses?
Hey man, I have a 97 528i. I had to remove my Hvac panel to get my fan speed button that had fallen into the space where the cupholder is supposed to be. When I reconnected it the fan starts blowing the panel lights dont come on and the led in the center flashes one every 5 seconds or so. None of the climate buttons work at all. Any idea what it could be?
+4DIYers Forgot to mention the led flashing keeps happening even after the car is off and the key is out of the ignition. I drove it to the store and I realized that every time it flashes the fans blow for a sec. No idea what it means lol
+Frankie Sullivan Oh then that changes it... Did you press the REST button? That allows the hvac system to circulate when the key is out of the ignition.
Would this be the same for a Bmw 528i 2000? If so is the buttons easy to replace because my HVAC control panel works I just cant change anything on since there is no buttons
Great video.

+Frankie Sullivan Could be a final stage unit failure and creating a back feed to the hvac panel.
