I have to say, as a Portuguese person, the roads and the views are very true from here! Looking forward to see how this ends up! Very ambitious but interesting project! Just a note, we only have 2 circuits, Portimao and Estoril, and by landscape it looks like the south region, so its possible to add Portimão there i guess
@@tiagobelo4965 Vasco Sameiro not a major circuit for sure. It can barely be used for track days and drift events. We used to have races there, now we get less and less.
If they can build a community like SRP could be a winner I’m definitely interested also I keep thinking that a Nurburgring “free roam” layout would be popular with people being able to do a lap then head off the track and explore the great roads around shame we can’t have a fuel station animation like we do for pit stops think that might be cool.
Yes! I always wonder why no one bothers to do exactly that. I mean Nordschleife servers are always full in Ac so why doesnt some talented modder „upgrade“ the experience with more slots and freeroam around the track. The roads and landscape around nordschleife are just beautyful aswell so it makes sense.
The race track that you see is Estoril. Is in the same region as Sintra, Cascais, Alcabideche etc. Now the good of this open world is the narrow roads and not the unfinished highways… You did a not so good video with the possibility of showing great content. I live at this region and was expecting more from this. You even went off-road xD Bring back the awesome content format please ;)
Question, is that chase cam at 01:32 just the normal F5 orbit cam positioned behind the car or a custom chaser camera script? I'm looking for a stiff chase cam exactly like that, would you mind sharing?
I wonder how this works on a technical level, like, I'm sure the creators of AC didn't really take maps this size into account? So how does it partition it in memory, cull it, etc, to keep it performing well?
@@rickyspanish4792 that’s a great question. I don’t have any inside knowledge for making tracks, but I’m sure it’s a lot of LOD and optimization work, which is why they’ve got a Kickstarter going. It seems like a lot of hands on technical work to make something of this scale playable.
I may be wrong, but I don't think the traffic flow changes sides according to what you choose. So even when choosing a RHD car, the traffic is still on the right hand side of the road. Furthermore, with years of driving experience, I struggle to "drive properly" in video games, even with a wheel. I suppose it is down to the limited view (VR may help) and physical feedback (force feedback is limited at road speed and artificial at the best of times). Additionally, video games fail to simulate the randomness of people's actions. Learning to anticipate this is the greatest skill, I think. However, there's a video game called "City Car Driving" which is often seen as the most realistic learning tool for, well, city car driving.
Doing real life map with city like LA would be so much more work that these kind of landscape map. Not sure how it may be optimized really. All those assets. Not a programmer, ev or mid creator but that would also by huge for process to the user pc. And you also got some game engine limitations. Maybe it would be possible to diverse it to parts and with loading screens. But still it would be nice when some professional say some more.
Damn 120km, someone trying to give SRP and LAC a challenge? I just want the devs to remember that quality > quantity tho'... If it's 200kms but textures looks that bad, no one is gonna like it. Hope they settle for that size for now and just work on making it look good.
How about instead of focusing on making bigger maps, people would concentrate on making them more detailed and true to life. This PS2-PS3 era graphics just doesn't cut it.
no where near as big as some other free maps , i know one map with 19 circuits with 1200km of road, so they really cant say the biggest, but all the best
Stop hustling people! There is no vibrations from road surface. I beleive you guys are focused on flat driving roads when in reality roads now have potholes and cracked/parched surfaces
Damn a Giant Empty Open World map with litirialy nothing to do.. I mean cool. But for what though ? I’m kind of burnt out on just playing around in these sims. Really feel like 2024 ended up being pretty disappointing as far as new launches. Maybe AC2 drops this year and saves us but as of now I really wish I had something more to sink my teeth into that has real depth not just toys.
then maybe try racing instead of just driving around without having a goal? There is more then enough to do in Simulators. Aim at breaking lap records in time attack, go into servers where they have real planned races and sign up for events that sometimes even have prices (GT3, GT1, Imsa, BTCC, DTM, Vintage etc.), be in drift events where u actually compete with other skilled people or go all out, meet ur friends online in events and nice servers, start making ur own mods or try racing in a serious Sim like Iracing, where u can really climb the rank ladder and if u are good, win thousands of dollars in prices, get sponsors, start streaming and maybe transfer into real racing. without goals and plans, u will be bored forever. U will be entertained for a couple weeks when some arcade game takes u by the end but in the end u will stay in the same situation if u strive for nothing. Assetto Corsa is the playground where u can do whatever u want. And other sims are the way to become known by others and have financial gain (if u are good and determined. p.s. there is also a big mod for AC, that adds insane amounts of new single player events with many challenges. and a change in ur physical racing setup can also completely change ur perception of sim racing.. sometimes just adding better speakers, some bass shakers and a better monitor can tranform the experience. And here u also have an open end of possibiltys, depending on much money u want / can spend.

2 major circuits, don't forget Braga (Circuito Vasco Sameiro) and the Boavista street circuit, both incredibly fun I might add
@@tiagobelo4965 and soon the new Circuito do Sol

That LOD pop in on the tarmac is really immersion breaking.
Looks like video compression artefacts.

finally portugal

A version of oahu would have been cooler imo but this is still good. I feel like we need more open world maps the way beamg does
