Interestingly, you showed this concept in your gameplay during the strategy section, but you didnt actually mention it - a very simple mindset is "Corner is King". Corners should be your priority to capture, because enemies can only neutralize you, not flank you. From there, you want to build your defense by capturing the sides (if the enemy does not have easy flanks laid out). Using this trick, I only lost once after the tutorial in my very first battle (because I still had no idea what I was doing), and after that, it was easy victory all the way! I haven't gotten very far into the game yet so I'm not sure if later cards can destroy this strategy, but where I am currently the AI doesn't seem smart enough to avoid your pieces and capture other corners. They seem to try to attack my corner pieces, giving me very easy flanks.
And you sir, get your comment pinned. Absolutely true. If I'm honest, I think that I learned corners were so strong subconsciously, then actively played it out without really taking note of it, hence why I never talked about it in this video. That said, awesome tips man.
This is really important for starting players to know. That you cannot flank the outer rows unless you take the corners. If you take an entire outer row, you've essentially made it near impossible to be flanked as long as you keep playing cards close to that row. It also makes it really easy to punish the enemy with your own flanks.
I would only add one caveat: wraparound will break you if you’re not prepared. There’s one opponent in the chapter 3 area that gave me no end of trouble. If it wasn’t No Keepsies, I would have lost so many cards. I ended up just grinding a bunch of points off a C rank, then clearing out the Wraparound nuisance in one final game. I think I’m scarred now...
Would it be possible to flank a corner piece with the wraparound ruleset? Last night i was losing over and over to the dude at Wizwald that uses Galahad. It seemed like that's what he was doing, I had corners and everything and yet he was converting my entire board with one card sometimes.
I'm glad I got lucky in most of the times I bungled a match and lost. Those Safe spots on the loser wheel are nice. After filling out the card binder it was neat to see how strong the Freelancer job card became.
Horton is certainly one of the best cards. Martha is really good too- gives you a random square at the end of your opponent's turn. Black mage is fantastic too.
I absolutely hate card games and I absolutely hate whoever had the bright ides to hide progression behind this extremely obnoxious and terrible card game bullshit
Im rank B and i cannot beat the witch at the 3rd village. After the sewers you can play against her but i kept being owned. Maybe you can do some guides about all the difficult players
Ooh yeah, she's TOUGH! She plays the Wrap around Rule correct? The BEST thing to do in that situation, is ELIMINATE as much as you can no matter what. I think she also uses the Galahad Fortification card. Suuuper annoying. Don't play defensively in that one, because the computer is better at flanking then we are in that case...instead, ANY card that she puts down that you're able to take out in 1 hit, do it. The big take away here is to figure out what strategy the opponent uses to win, and take that away from them.
Thank you! You really broke down B n D and explained it in a way that I could understand. I just didn't get it at allllll. The way the game itself explained it wasn't helpful at all. I was getting so frustrated trying to play. I'm so glad I found your video! Finally won my first match lol
I'm really glad to hear this! Had a friend that told me "I don't know why you made that video in the first place, didn't the tutorial do a good enough job?" I said to him... "no. no it didn't." I'm glad to hear that you got a lot out of this video!
Now play the old lady by the bar over and over. Take all her cards. Especially bard. Then move on to the kid on the right by the poker table. Take horten and gelfaten or whatever that green monsters name is. Very useful cards
I noticed after watching this that the whole Mini-game of BnD embraces the games philosophy for battle as well. You can see braveing and defaulting have similar parallels in the card game. Also the short name "BnD" is even more obvious. Pretty clever when you think about it though. I wonder if that was intentional from the start
This game is pissing me off. I'll have them completely surrounded and still can't take squares. Yet they'll do a single card and take every square I have on the board no matter where it is.
I’m loving your Bravely Default 2 tutorials and will honestly watch whatever content you put out there. These have helped a ton so far. I’d love to see a video going over some basic team comps and passive combos. Keep up the great work!
Niiiice. Thanks for the feedback. I'm still in my first play through, but I'll definitely be doing these types of videos. How far are you into the game if ya don't mind me asking.
@@JRPG-Mickey not nearly far enough. Full time job and family’s kept me busy and I’m only 10 hours into the game. Still on chapter one, just got Prince Castor as a companion, but spent quite a bit of time having fun grinding out the freelancer jobs for the JP boosts.

Please make a guide going over the jobs in the order they're gained! You could show off the stat changes of each job, the best abilities, possibile job/ability combinations, etc. That would be SUPER helpful.
Awesome to know. I think I might be able to finish by tomorrow. Keep letting me know how far you are, so I know what jobs to do a guide on. I'll be shouting ya out in the video!
