Telling him he can’t play vr though isn’t going to clean my headset. I have limited his time on the headset and he can only play with me around, but does anyone know how to clean grease off the headset itself? I just hate that there’s fingerprints all over it. I thought about screen wipes but I don’t want to put a mark on the headset itself.
You're talking about the lenses specifically? This is the only thing I have found that got mine back to New Condition: A Lenspen for your vr headset ruclips.net/video/BoeWDm5CrOk/видео.html
JayBratt no he didn’t touch the lenses, I meant the physical headset. The outer shell the cameras point out of. And the cameras. They’re a bit grubby too. I suspect that might be why sometimes I put away my sledgehammer while playing boneworks and it falls to the floor:( . I was wondering if there was anything for grease on the outside of the physical headset. Thanks for getting back to me. It’s great to have an honestly nice support RUclips channel to watch when you need help. Ps: I never knew the lens pens were a thing, so thanks for the tips! Edit: I’ve subscribed and liked the vid just to say thanks.
@@columrichardson5279 thank you so much! As far as the cameras on the outside a microfiber cloth like you use for lenses should get all the grease right off. The actual plastic shell you can use wipes or a microfiber cloth to get the hand oils off. At least he didn't get the lenses dirty. Grease in the grooves is hard to get at. Welcome to the channel! I really appreciate you subscribing and liking 😁
damn this just feels wrong to watch, especially since oculus advises using only like dry antimicrobial stuff or whatever. isnt there any glue between the plastic and foam?
There is glue but the sweat breaks it down over time worse than the soap will. Before I started cleaning mine I ruined one. The new one I started washing more regularly and it lasted much longer. Every vr headset advises not really cleaning any part of it besides wiping it with a dry microfiber cloth but when you sweat a lot in a headset that's asking for nasty buildup. A better solution is to get a replacement interface with a couple cloth pads because then you just remove the sweaty pad and toss it in the wash after a beat saber or other exercise session
If you are unlucky and get a scratch in the lense. use Polywatch to polish it back. you can remove the scratches 100%. (Note ONLY use Polywatch nothing else!)
Game changer right there! I actually just replaced my cable with the optical cable and it's SO MUCH thinner than the cable that came from these first run Rift S's
u should change ur intro, I don't mean that in a bad way I mean that in popular channels either have a short intro and on point or don't have an intro at all, and you also might get hate when u get popular for a long intro (they'll think your stretching content) Edit: also, if u make an actual part for edits (such as disgusting) like putting them in between the video instead of on top of the video (if u use premiere, you'll understand what I mean), it won't get in the way of the video. like i said before, not a hate comment, just wanted to say that
Hey Binder, I really appreciate the feedback! This was pretty early in my start and I've since made a shorter intro. I have noticed many channels ditching them altogether and have started to consider that too. Thank you and yeah this old one was definitely a bit lengthy lol
Yeah this was real bad... DISGUSTIN! I have since switched over to the AMVR face pads and they're much better where sweat is concerned. It replaces all 3 pads to a less absorbent material. The tradeoff is the sweat is just rolling down your face instead. ruclips.net/video/oEP6Q_fNZKA/видео.html I personally use the face and back of head pad from AMVR and ended up keeping the stock forehead pad. The AMVR one was a bit thick for my big head and it soaks up enough sweat to keep it out of my eyes without wrecking all my pads. Might be worth looking into if you want a change.
@@mrminecraftcubeable I agree with you there! haha. Another nice thing about the AMVR pads is they're pretty easy to swap so you could play with them and if they get gross switch back to the stock pads that are freshly washed and at least get a couple more hours out of the time with friends.

@@ShadowGirlKita for sure! Just a personal hobby or you considering creating content around it?
I don't know whats on my lenses but it won't come of what should I use? To clean it
You could try a lenspen if you have something persistent on there:

Thanks man, I go dancing in VRC and now when I put the headset on my face starts to feel tingly, time to clean it I guess 😅
Thank you, useful, clear and to the point!
Thank you so much! Since then I switched for a set of amvr pads but I'm glad this is helping people. I still use the original forehead pad though because the amvr one was too thick and pushed my lenses too far away
Thank you for the vid. Leaving a like. Now back into Box VR.
Yes! Box has been on my list for a bit. Do you get as intense a workout as beat saber or is it more intense?
Does it work on the quest foam thing
Yeah the Quest foam can be washed the same way. Although they recalled that foam due to it causing so much skin irritation so you can get a Silicone Cover for it for free now: ruclips.net/video/FYPNfY27eRg/видео.html
Great video man. Well done!
Thanks so much! It's been a bit but people still find this video. I've since switched to the AMVR replacement head pads that don't suck up the sweat so bad. I reviewed them on the channel and they're nice, the only problem was the forehead pad was too thick for my big head so I use the stock pad there but the face and rear pads don't soak up the sweat anymore
I bought mine used and the foam has a cigarette smell no matter how much I use Clorox I can’t get it out. I’ve used other brand too
Oof, I would just order this: amzn.to/3zs1tFd The forehead pad is a bit thicker than I'd like but it will replace all the pads and get rid of that smell forever!
Full review here: ruclips.net/video/oEP6Q_fNZKA/видео.html
with so much r&d going into these units i wonder why they don't make these parts easier to clean (fabric/foam detachable from hard plastics)
I wish I knew. I'm gonna be testing a full set of replacement pads this week so keep an eye out for that
Probably cutting corners. Rift S seems engineered to be as cheap as humanly possible without compromising too much on functionality.
and then we got the Quest 2, the epitome of being as cheap as humanly possible with compromising lol. At least there's plenty of accessories to replace the parts
Unfortunately doing this made the adhesive on my one pad to completely come off and it ruined the pad. But thank you for the video
thank you!! my fave piece has makeup on it 😂😂 and i had NO idea you could REMOVE THEM!!! omg thanks lol
No problem Lindsey... I can't tell you how much mascara I've had to clean off my lenses... I should wear less :)
@@jaybratt underrated comment
@@brandonz404 lol
I HAVE QUESTION!! - can i use MicroFiber Cloth(glasses) to clean lenses??????????
Yeah, that's actually the top recommended item to use on your lenses. A clean microfiber cloth :)
@@jaybratt ok and how can i see if there ''FOG'' on lenses?,''
@@monstersuxxio95 fog is just moisture while playing. It will be very obvious but it will go away quickly when you take the headset off. It's just condensation like when you get in the car in the morning
@@jaybratt WHEN Will the(Fog) be removed from the lenses''' ?
@@monstersuxxio95 what do you mean by fog? Like when you're playing a game and the lenses fog up? Or like built up dirt on the lenses that's always there?
Am I the only one that finds the water sounds in this video very relaxing?
Apparently lol
Thanks Jay , just the info i need.
Yay!! Its Important if you play as much beat saber as I do! Haha
Also thank you for subscribing!
Nice tutorial. Very clear and easy to folllow.
Thank you! Someone sent me the replacement padding that replaces it all and is easier to keep clean so watch out for that video in the coming weeks. Thanks!
Has anyone done this long/often enough they could confirm the clamps won't break? I've been cleaning my Rift S padding this way every week and worry that I am weakening the clamps for the padding and someday wont be able to put them back on..
I've done this not only many times but I've got a second set of padding from amvr that I switch back and forth and both sets of clamps are still fine over a year later. They'll eventually wear out but I think other things will break sooner... my left analog stick is starting to break first sadly and I'm just out of warranty 😔
I feel like they really messed up covering this thing in absorbent pads. I also have a PSVR and it's basically the same design but silicone. it's so easy to keep clean and sanitary compared to the rift. And the silicone actually makes me sweat LESS. The rift gets so gross after an active game.
I agree completely. I've deep cleaned my psvr like once a year and my rift s needs it at least every month. It's just nasty! I switched up to some amvr pads that are much better but less comfortable sadly
@@jaybratt I was actually thinking about buying those but was also worried about the comfort. they look thin.
@@Monostat7 exact opposite problem, they're a bit too thick. At least the forehead one for my big noggin. The face pad and rear one are great but the forehead one was so thick it pushed on my temples a bit but now it doesn't soak up my sweat constantly. Heres a link to when I reviewed them if you're interested:
ruclips.net/video/oEP6Q_fNZKA/видео.html
@@jaybratt Right on thanks. I'll check it out! Was mostly worried about the facepad not having enough padding.
@@Monostat7 it's just much more stiff so if your face shape doesn't fit it perfectly it's more noticeable. Still worth it for me but I ended up using the regular forehead pad again as that one just bugged me
Thanks! Super nice video. I'm trying it now :)
You're welcome! I was doing this every couple weeks or so. Now I've switch some of the pads out with some pleather type ones that don't soak up the sweat so bad. We need more companies to get on that though
thanks bro i didnt know u cud do that i cleaned it and the water was black lol
Ewwww haha. Yeah they get nasty. Eventually your sweat will break down the glue and it will start to come apart no matter what so you may have to look at a silicone cover or a full replacement:
ruclips.net/video/oEP6Q_fNZKA/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/aUeLO3gZHuc/видео.html
SO you cant just throw em i na washing machine? damn I was considering it
The pads you would honestly be better putting in the top rack of a dishwasher as it would be less brutal. I haven't tried it but its a common practice with work hats and baseball caps.
@@jaybratt true, I managed to clean my foam pads, now they are nice and fuzzy again, but they won't last long, over time the outer fabric peals off from usage, and it's barely on there now, so I ordered silicon pads instead
@@KrazyKya nice! I rock silicone on the forehead and rear pad and a replacement interface for the face
Pretty Helpful, thx!!

My little brother was playing vr with my headset last night and as little kids do, he left grease, sweat and oil all over my headset.
This is the only thing I have found that got mine back to New Condition:
A Lenspen for your vr headset
ruclips.net/video/BoeWDm5CrOk/видео.html
THANKS DUDE!
If you are unlucky and get a scratch in the lense. use Polywatch to polish it back. you can remove the scratches 100%. (Note ONLY use Polywatch nothing else!)
I've never heard of that. I'll check it out
Im glad i dont sweat that much but man if you dont clean it for a while it gets nasty
This is so true! Especially if more than one person is using it... Disgustinnnn
I yust noticed the paintings
It's the one thing in my house I occasionally re arrange besides my studio
Thank You!
They are different
haha yeah that old one is now in the kitchen
thanks
i didn't even know the cord comes off...
Game changer right there! I actually just replaced my cable with the optical cable and it's SO MUCH thinner than the cable that came from these first run Rift S's
u should change ur intro, I don't mean that in a bad way I mean that in popular channels either have a short intro and on point or don't have an intro at all, and you also might get hate when u get popular for a long intro (they'll think your stretching content)
Edit: also, if u make an actual part for edits (such as disgusting) like putting them in between the video instead of on top of the video (if u use premiere, you'll understand what I mean), it won't get in the way of the video.
like i said before, not a hate comment, just wanted to say that
Hey Binder, I really appreciate the feedback! This was pretty early in my start and I've since made a shorter intro. I have noticed many channels ditching them altogether and have started to consider that too. Thank you and yeah this old one was definitely a bit lengthy lol
Geez I thought mine was bad
Yeah this was real bad... DISGUSTIN! I have since switched over to the AMVR face pads and they're much better where sweat is concerned. It replaces all 3 pads to a less absorbent material. The tradeoff is the sweat is just rolling down your face instead.
ruclips.net/video/oEP6Q_fNZKA/видео.html
I personally use the face and back of head pad from AMVR and ended up keeping the stock forehead pad. The AMVR one was a bit thick for my big head and it soaks up enough sweat to keep it out of my eyes without wrecking all my pads. Might be worth looking into if you want a change.
@@jaybratt might look into those pads it's pretty hard to share these ones after a while
@@mrminecraftcubeable I agree with you there! haha. Another nice thing about the AMVR pads is they're pretty easy to swap so you could play with them and if they get gross switch back to the stock pads that are freshly washed and at least get a couple more hours out of the time with friends.
Awesome! Thanks for showing didnt know that the 2 pieces f padding could be removed. Thanks!
Plot twist you dont wear the stock inerface
Wear it with NO interface... just dangling lenses lol
