  • Watercolour is a fabulous medium for painting portraits, whoever your subject is - children, men, women, old, young, white, black, Asian.... You can produce contemporary, fun portraits full of character and life.
During October 2022 I took part in a 30 faces in 30 days challenge with www.school.sktchy.com and I thought by sharing all the portraits it would show some of the possibilities. Which is your favourite technique or face? Please do comment, as I would love to know.
During the 30 days, some went well and others less so, but they are included here so you can see what I learnt.
I have done some tutorials on the techniques, so if you want to have a go, please take a look (reference pics are in the community tab on my channel)

Gosh I really like them all for different reasons….. I actually liked the sketchiness of 13, and 2,….. 17 the coffee one great 👍 like the ref pic too would be nice to it in those colours as well but yea the monochrome coffee approach tuned out stunning!…… 22 I liked the feel in this one the softness you managed to get with such contrasting colours very cool….. 26 I liked this one much more then the reference pic something about it that really keeps you looking at it 👌….. And also 27, love the quirkiness of it! I think I liked all of them tho 😁 great challenge! 👏👏

posterise (or posterise) is on photo editing. it clumps together areas of the same tone if the photo is black and white, so that you can easily see where there is a change. if the photo is in colour it climbs colours together. It really trains your eye. Google it for a better explanation!
