    Fully God. Fully man.
Well-meaning Christians further get this wrong with using language of God the Father "turning His face away from / separating Himself from" Christ on the cross. If Christ were fully separated from the Trinity, He'd no longer be God, or there would've been two separate Gods at the same time... and the Trinity would only have 2 members at that point in history.
The veiled eyesight is a solid analogy. All ability and identity remains even while momentarily, intentionally setting that ability aside.

      @MK-lh3xd 6 месяцев назад +1

The video just explained he chose himself to be less than god. But you still claim fully god, fully man.
And when jesus is in heaven (as in now), doesn't he have a separate existence from the father? Does he not sit on a different throne or on the right hand of the father, thus implying separate existence? Is jesus a spirit in heaven or is he still in flesh?

@@MK-lh3xd - Good questions! He didn't "choose Himself to be less than God." He put aside the fullness of His abilities while retaining His divine nature ("Godness" for lack of a better term). The video explains that. You can't "choose" to be less than God unless you have the option to "choose" to be on the same level with God -- which is something only God could decide to do.
The heavenly throne language in the Bible isn't meant as a literal, physical throne, but spiritual (heaven is a spiritual realm) -- it signifies His Kingship over creation. The Trinity itself is an idea we can't fully grasp because God is unlike any physical being we've ever encountered -- which makes sense if He made this entire universe. The nature of Jesus's existence is similarly beyond our immediate understanding if we're trying to compare it to mere physical creatures.
"Is Jesus a spirit in heaven or is he still in flesh?" Yep. The Bible says He ascended into heaven in His body, which would mean He still has possession of the same resurrected body that He had on Earth. But it also clearly states He is spiritually unlimited since the resurrection, meaning He isn't confined to only existing in that body.

    • @MK-lh3xd
      @MK-lh3xd 6 месяцев назад

@@thinkingtoinfinity ok. Nature of god is beyond our understanding. But each religion claims they know their god is the true one, and the gods of other religions are false. What gives that confidence if one is not able to comprehend the nature of god, and is not even able to be sure how many forms a god takes, or if he can take another form, why he wouldn't have taken other forms in other times and places? Or even that there may be several gods that we cannot comprehend? Why can't there be many gods who either don't care about each other or that they collaborate with each other or fight with each other over a universe? A lot of beliefs about god or gods appear to be a combination of wishful thinking, fear, tribalism, word salads to obfuscate and modeled loosely on powerful, angry and occasionally merciful ancient tribal warlords. I don't mean to offend, but if we don't understand something, it is better to say we don't know, and that we could be wrong about what we know, than to commit our lives strongly to it.

@@MK-lh3xd - Thanks for the reply! I'm not offended, and greatly appreciate the conversation.
Yes, religions all make competing claims, and most of them imply severe consequences if they're right and we don't acknowledge them. And I completely agree that, from an outsider/atheist perspective they all seem like control tactics or enduring legends. That's why I felt it was worth investigating the claims of different worldviews (including atheism) in my younger years when I was an agnostic. I found that most religions are almost intentionally absurd myths (i.e. the Earth was formed by a peacock hurling an egg into the sun) which can be easily ruled out. Atheism didn't explain anything beyond physical material, though information transfer, logic, consciousness (supported by NDE evidence) etc., are not physical things.
For me, authentic Christianity (not the popularized T.V. version) was the worldview that best explained the world we live in, how humans behave, etc. I think it's better to sincerely examine the evidence rather than just shrug it off and say we can't know. There's too much at stake.
If a Being truly existed prior to the creation of our universe and that Being, in fact, created this universe -- that checks out with how science can't explain physics requiring cause and effect, yet our universe clearly shows signs of a beginning without a physical cause. If that Creator revealed things about Himself, we could expect much to align with our reality, while also often defying our understanding.
If that Creator had no intention of us understanding It, then anything goes (your examples of multiple gods, multiple forms of god, etc.). However, if that Creator did want us to have some knowledge of Him, I think the explanation Christianity provides makes the most sense of all alternatives.

Jesus, GOD in the Flesh, gave us the example of how to live as a human. He said He could do nothing but what The Father let Him and speak only what The Father told Him. So yes, he was limited in his personhood, but still GOD in the Flesh. He had to eat and drink, as humans do. He performed countless miracles, that we can perform if we follow The LORD and live by the example Christ set. He defeated any attempts at temptation by Satan by quoting The Bible. In his humanity, he was reluctant to die a painful death on the cross, and asked The Father to take this cup from him, if there was another way; but HIS will be done, the Will of GOD, not the will of the flesh.

We read in Mal.3:1: “Behold, I will send MY MESSENGER, and he shall prepare the way BEFORE ME: and THE LORD, WHOM YOU SEEK, SHALL SUDDENLY COME TO ***HIS*** TEMPLE, even the MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT, whom you delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Lets break this down and make it perfectly clear......
"Behold I *_(God)_* will send my messenger (??????) and he shall prepare the way before me *_(God)_* :
Who was sending the messenger?...... It was *_God_*
The messenger was to prepare the way for who? .......for *_God_*
So *_God_* ...... sent (somebody) to prepare the way for *_God .... HIMSELF..._*
and the Lord *_(God)_* , whom you seek, shall suddenly come to his *_(God's)_* temple, even the messenger of the covenant *_( the law of Moses)_* , whom you delight in: behold, he *_(God)_* shall come, saith the Lord *_(God)_* of hosts.
In the passage above Malachi speaks of a messenger one that will prepare the way for the Lord, this is none other than John the Baptizer who is foretold in Isa.40:3-4. He is.......
“The voice crying out in the wilderness: prepare the way of the *_Lord_* ; make straight in the desert a highway for *_OUR GOD_* .”
Mt. 11:10 quotes this as a confirmation of John the Baptizer as the one who will introduce the *_LORD_* and *_OUR GOD_* . “For this is he of whom it is written: 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You.'
So..... Who was the one that came after John the Baptizer? It was JESUS. But wait....According to Malachi the one that comes after John the Baptizer is the same one that made the covenant with Moses.... How can this be? Was it not God that made the covenant with Moses? Yes it was.....But it was Jesus that came after John the Baptizer and not God?.... Could Malachi be wrong? ....Or is it simply that God himself did actually come to the earth and visit his temple as Jesus right after John the Baptizer did. Exactly as Malachi said he would...
Notice that Malachi tells us that the Lord himself, the one who made the covenant with Israel in the Old Testament will come to visit his temple personally and they will "BEHOLD" him *_(they would see him)_* ..... They would see who? They would see the one that made covenant with Israel. *>>>> "GOD"

Jesus was fully God and fully man. He was meant to be more than just God to us, but what is possible with our humanity. What if instead of him being all-knowing, he limited himself to what his human nature would know and allowed himself to be completely led by the Spirit at all times? That would explain why he can know how many husbands the woman at the well had, but yet be taken off guard when the woman with the issue of blood touched his robes. He was a man so in tune with the Holy Spirit and that's what allowed him to do the things he did as a man.
Keep in mind, I'm not denying the deity of Christ at all, he is God. But I think back to the scripture in Phillipians that says "Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to". This is the one that, I believe, showcases this better than any other.

I used to think that the answer to Mark 13:32 was the incarnation, but not anymore (at least not as a primary answer). It has nothing to do with the incarnation. The word "know" is being used in the sense of "make known" or "declare," such as making a declaration or announcement. In ancient Jewish weddings only the father had the right to declare that date and hour of the ceremony. It's even possible that "no one knows the date or the hour" was a first century figure of speech since the Sanhedrin only had the authority to declare when a new month started in the Jewish calendar. So Jesus could have been referring to Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets).

This indicates that He gained, meaning He was at a "lower" point of wisdom, A, and moved toward a "higher" point of wisdom, B. So from our perspective as He is the creator, He is God. He may not be on the same level as God The Father, but from our perspective as the creation... He is God. Additionally He received worship. The man born blind worshiped Him, The rocks and stones would have worshiped Him if humanity did not.. Each person in the bible who was worshiped and did not deserve it quickly gave the glory to God, and stopped the worshiper from continuing.... Yeshua did not. Psalms says "Thy Throne Oh God is forever and ever", in the book of Revelation the 24 elders, the 4 living beings, and hundreds of thousands of angels worshiped He who sat on the throne AND THE LAMB.... So yes.. He is God. He may be 'A God' but from our perspective He is God.

Omniscience is probably closer to knowing all possible outcomes in all possible realities, but not the same as experience. Jesus had to "learn" things. Luke says he "grew" in wisdom. If God IS wisdom how can he grow? The reality is that the Godhead is so much deeper with more dimensions than we can possibly imagine, and the transcendent mixing with the earthly will also cause confusion for pure left-brain people.

Since we have offended an infinite, perfect God, the only sacrifice that satisfies God's justice is an infinite, perfect sacrifice. Only Jesus as the God-man could possibly fulfill that demand. If Jesus isn't God, there is no gospel.

This makes a lot of sense when it is used to explain all the other incommunicable attributes like Glory, Omnipotence and Omnipresence. We see the unveiling of Glory at the Mount of Transfiguration. We see the unveiling of Omnipotence to withstand the wrath of God on the cross for sinners. We see the omnipresence when He says he’ll never leave us or forsake us. In his “day to day,” those incommunicable attributes were his, but were not on display. They were not something he grasped.

I think sometimes we go too far in trying to define what makes God, God. There are certain divine attributes that scripture is clear on; however, there are also some other attributes that I believe might actually just belong to a certain part of the Godhead. The opening words in Genesis I believe is meant to communicate some of those fundamental aspects of His divine nature. God is eternal in a way that nothing else that is not God is. Everything that is not God, depends on God for its existence. Without Him nothing else exists. Passages like John 1 connect Jesus to this same divine nature showing that He is God just as His Father is God. Now there is an important clarification that needs to be made concerning this ‘eternal’ nature of God. Many English translations of scripture use the same word to describe the gift of ‘eternal life’ that God offers us. So does that mean that God is offering to elevate us to become Gods? Certainly not, in fact the word eternal here isn’t really the best translation. I prefer translating these passages as ‘everlasting life’ although that too isn’t a perfect translation. The point is, God offers to give us a kind of life that is free of death and that will never end; however, He is not offering to make us eternal as He is eternal having neither beginning or end. Our lives will always have a beginning and we will never be ‘alpha and omega’. Nothing and no one could ever become God because by definition to be God is to have always been God in a unique eternal sense. Therefore, everything belongs in one of two categories. Category 1 is the eternally existing God and category 2 is everything else that God brings into existence which we call creation.
This establishes Gods authority over all else that exists meaning that God has power over all creation. This is what we mean when we say that God is all powerful or omnipotent. Without spending too much time on it, we also see an emphasis on His unique goodness (Mark 10:18). So some of Gods divine attributes include His eternal nature, His authority over creation or omnipotence and lastly His goodness. Scripture affirms all of these attributes in Jesus, establishing Him as one and the same with God.
However, there are a few other attributes that we have ascribed to God that are not explicitly ascribed to Jesus. For example, take omnipresence or the quality of existing everywhere at once. Now there are certain passages that people have pulled this idea about God from such as Psalms 139:7-12; however, does that mean that this is a fundamental characteristic of God or simply that it is a characteristic that exists within the Godhead? If we go back to the original qualities that have been established I think we will find an answer. Space itself (not just ‘outer space’ but the attribute of possessing spatial properties) is something that I believe fits into category 2 as a part of creation not in category 1 as part of God’s eternally existing nature. Now if space itself is not an eternally existing thing then a spatial quality such as having a specific location within space or even being located everywhere in space can also not be an eternally existing quality.
Now I want to describe a way that I have found to think about the Trinity that helps me make sense of it; however, I need to first point out that this should not be considered in anyway authoritative and there are almost certainly some holes in my thinking as I believe the fullness of God’s nature is beyond human comprehension. That being said, I have found that it makes the most sense to think of only the Holy Spirit as possessing this attribute of omnipresence. That is not because the Father or Son lack the power to be omnipresent but because they have a reason for taking on a different kind of spacial property. The Son has taken on the ability to exist in a specific place and time to completely share with us this part of our human nature. On the other hand, the Father is often described as being ‘enthroned above’ in a way that makes me think of Him as existing completely outside of space and time.
Now this brings us to another quality that is ascribed to God which is omniscience. Now this seems like it should be a fundamental characteristic of God, how can there be anything that God does not know about? Now if all of existence depends on Gods for its existence then of course God must know about all of it. However, the nature of this question assumes a temporal understanding of knowledge. That is to say, the question can be reworded to take different temporal considerations. How can there be anything God does not know about now? Or, how can there be anything God does not know about ever? There are subtle yet important differences between these ways of interpreting that question. If God choses to exist outside of time then his knowledge exists outside of time as well. This is how I believe we can reconcile the notion of the Fathers foreknowledge and human free will. How can God know what choices we are going to make if our choices are not already determined? Because his knowledge about these things exists outside of time. From his perspective, he is not looking into the future to see what we will choose. He sees what we will choose because he sees all of it, all of space and time at once. Now then, if a member of the Godhead chose to exist in time and His knowledge existed in time then it is possible that He might not have knowledge about all times. Perhaps this is the case with Jesus and it is why He had to depend the Spirits revolution and trust in the Fathers Will. Of course this is not because He does not have the power to access this knowledge, but because He has chosen to share in human limitations for a purpose.

I might be wrong on this but correct me please. In 1 Corinthians 2:2 Paul said For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Paul used the same word “know” means declare. For the second coming of Jesus will be like a wedding, so The Father announces the wedding not The Son. In Jewish wedding the father declares the wedding but the son knows when is the wedding. So this means Jesus knows the hour but The Father will declare it.

  • @galacticdivinity
    @galacticdivinity 5 месяцев назад +1

    Respectfully, this explanation is incorrect.
If Jesus not knowing the hour is due to his incarnation, then that doesn’t explain how the Holy Spirit also doesn’t know since the Holy Spirit never incarnated. The verse says that “only The Father” knows, which must mean that the Holy Spirit *also* does not know, but the Holy Spirit never incarnated.
So what is the answer to this question?
When Jesus says that only his Father knows, he is speaking in the form of a parable: it's a reference to the saying that's been associated with ancient, Jewish wedding customs--that only the bridegroom's father knows when the wedding will occur.

It's difficult to prove any of these claims either way, you either put your trust in the bible (which my understanding is that historians only believe a small portion is likely the accurate word of Jesus) or you put your trust in the Quran.
If you generally believe in both, then the Quran takes precedent because it came second, and is supposed to be the direct word of God, not just stories told by other people.
The question is, is there any reason to believe the Quran is true and not a lie?
You can analyse the life of the prophet Muhammad, and decided whether he was crazy, a liar or a truthful person, based on the vast majority of his actions.
The other side is looking at the Quran and its historical and scientific accuracies that couldn't have been known by Muhammad.
But how do you square that with the bible? Muslims believe the words of Jesus were corrupted, intentionally and/or unintentionally, and he didn't say everything the bible says he said. So if they're right, surely there would be contradictions within the bible and between the new and old testaments right?
Well arguably there are, because the bible says in more than 20 places that God is only 1, and yet this idea of the trinity somehow appeared, and it seems to fly in the face of that.
Christians insist that God is 3 and 1 at exactly the same time, which seems illogical, but ok, maybe the complexity of God is too great for us to understand?
But why is there such an emphasis on the oneness of God then? The trinity is not explained well, not detailed properly in scripture, is basically only briefly hinted at here or there, and is mainly the work of scholars and their readings. It is not sufficient to discount the highly emphasised oneness of God that scripture places. The trinity needs to be more explicitly detailed, or else the best explanation for its limited evidence's existence, is that chinese-whispers have corrupted the teachings of Jesus, rather than God is in fact 3 and also 1 simultaneously.
The question is, in which way is God 1, if the trinity is real? Other than you just insisting that God is 1 with you words, in which other way, which attributes of God make him 1 if the trinity is real?

That's okay since his spiritual identity was always the same the whole time. Plus, this context makes it clear (at least to me) that in showing his steps of humbling, he started off in the form of God, humbled himself to take the form of a servant and be made a man, then humbled himself to the point of death on the cross. Otherwise, he would have been in in the form of God when on earth ,prior to his baptism. As for the trinity existing coequally, I think of water - it exists in solid, liquid, and gaseous forms. Each appears and feels different, one interacts with each differently.. But water never stops being H2O in each of its different forms.

Jesus was given a mortal body, but did not sin, only sinners are destined to die, because he was without sin, it took the level of brutality he suffered to bring him to that point of death.
Jesus is meant to as you said, live a life amongst the humans in order to be relational to all mankind, lest mankind have the excuse. "Well God doesn't know! How could he judge us when he was never in our position to live through these trials and temptations." But Jesus came to fulfill that. If Jesus wasn't God, then this excuse would still hold up. But because he both is God, and fulfilled living a sinless life despite all the temptations, even the torture of brutality while found guilty for doing nothing wrong. And could have saved himself from the torment by calling upon a leagues of angels. He chose not to run away from it, to fulfill the higher purpose, that only a deity could fulfill. A sacrifice that any of us would have been too weak and saved ourselves from just to get the torment to stop. And through it, he took on the sins of all mankind. After walking and living a life on earth and experiencing all the same things humans had to endure. Both the good times he had traveling with friends, meeting people, providing them with hope and knowledge. And the bad when he was mocked, attempted to be tricked into a crime by not paying taxes, chased for his life before his appointed time of death, and so on...
As for why he does not know the date, nor the time, nor the hour. It is the same with the example of living a life as a mortal, but Jesus was required to do so in all things as an example and a testament to us on how we should behave. There are times in life where we as Christians need to wait on the Lord. Wait for his answer. And wait for his timing. It is as you said, it is a restriction of sorts, but I believe the part you could have refined with this video is the "why?" behind it. Which is again, to fulfill that example for us. Which Jesus even now has accomplished. Which he said, he does not know that day nor time nor the hour. But he will be waiting at the ready by his fathers side, waiting for the command. It is the final piece of active obedience exemplified in the Bible. Which God says he requires more than sacrifice. Which goes hand in hand and speaks volumes considering Jesus's sacrifice and how it worked in tandem as obedience with God's will. Despite Jesus praying for if there were to be any other way, for the cup to be taken from him.
It's a true miracle that Jesus went through all he went through. That a deity walked among men and made a sacrifice for all men and yet is disregarded so flimsily. With many not giving any true thought or care into the purpose of their existence and how valuable it all means. Your life was worthy enough for a God to lay down his own for you, For a God to sacrifice his only son for you, and whether or not you speak towards such an act with gratitude or with contempt, will speak volumes for your character, and what kind of person you really are.

Is God who he is only because of his attributes of God? Doesn't his identity also make him God? Can't we say for sure that Jesus was God because he was the Word (logos) made flesh, and never lost his spiritual identity as God? So he was indeed God, but had emptied himself to become a man. His attributes were not veiled, he didn't have them. Veiled would me man can't see them, but emptied of them would mean he longer has them. If they were just veiled, he could have tapped into them and found out his hour of return and simply told his disciples. Now in the glory he "had before world began" (Jn. 17), he has them all back again.

Jesus was God deliberately lowering himself in power. Jesus was God stripping himself of power, that was the whole point.
Jesus brought himself low to the power of a mortal man, for the sole reason so Humanity could connect with God himself better, so we can actually relate to God, and feel for him.
This is what Jews and Muslims dont understand nor appreciate about Christ, God becoming Man mortally, on purpose. It is not weakness, it was strength to show God's might to deny and defeat all evil as a mortal man.
And when he died, he fared through the underworld hell, for 3 days that felt like an eternity, and conquered death and evil. He paid our price not just through crucifixion, but through his venture thru hell.
Jesus suffered for sins he didn't even commit, that is the ultimate suffering hell, hell enjoyed hurting God himself, but even they could not keep him there.
God can strip himself of his omnipotence and get it back just like that. *snaps*

There is only one god. And jesus PBUH is his messenger.
John 5 30 “I cannot do anything on my own; I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me."
Just like every other messenger of god, jesus was also doing only what god told him. If he was god in flesh, then atleast he would have his own will.

The Word of God, which is what Jesus was prior to his Incarnation (John 1:1), was made a man but kept that same identity into his Incarnation. His identity as God never changed. As a man he only did the Father's will, and so was without sin, even though tempted in all ways like us. That is why he can sympathize with us in our battles. See Hebrews 4:14-16. But my question to you is do you have eternal life by knowing God and Jesus Christ who he sent? It would be sad indeed for you to quote the Bible about eternal life and yet not have it yourself. Ask Jesus to reveal himself to you and he will do it. You can know you have eternal life.

Ok bro. There are some reasons I don't believe in Christianity:
      1. There are too many versions of Bible and all of them have contradicting points.
      2. Christians claim that John was an eyewitness of Jesus PBUH and wrote the bible. But john's bible was written in 100 AD. Almost 67 or more years after Jesus' ascend.
      3. John 17 3 proves that Jesus was not god, and he is a messenger.
      4. John 5 30 proves that Jesus is not god because god has his own will, and his prophets do not.
      5. King james version, mattew 17 21 calls jesus a son of man which contradicts with the whole christian belief system.
      6. Christians who translate the bible cover up evidence. If you want to know what I mean. Go google "what is the word for (god) in Aramiac.
      7. Jesus never calls " the holy spirit" a god
      8. Jesus is not all knowing and can die. That shows weakness. God isn't weak. He is all powerful.
This video states that Jesus wanted to be unaware. This is stupid. It's like saying that I cut my own arm off because of nothing.
      9. If we ask christians that why didn't the followers of Jesus didn't defend him and fought for him, they would bring a verse where Jesus said that if he needed help he would call to the angels of heaven. So does god need help from his own creation?

It’s only irreconcilable when trying to use human logic on God.
God is not human but Spirit and he can’t be explained with our limited logic. All we can do is trying to get glimpse of God’s nature by studying his word and the ways he revealed himself to us.
God showed himself and spoke to Moses in a burning bush, a cloud, and fire and he showed Moses His glory, but covered Moses’ eyes with His own hands so Moses wouldn’t die seeing God’s face (Exodus 33)
God also shows himself to Elijah (1. Kings 19) not in a mighty wind, not in an earthquake, but in a gentle whisper. This time Elijah covered his eyes himself knowing that he would perish seeing God face to face.
There is nothing to reconcile when it’s about Jesus. Jesus is God coming down on earth in human form so we could get a glimpse of God and not perish.
And you will one day recognize Jesus as well, whether it’ll be trembling in fear or with overflowing joy depends on the decision you make here and now.
You saying “xtianity” reveals yourself not as a born again believer, but, I assume, as some kind of Muslim denying Jesus, or an atheist. But that doesn’t make the reality of Jesus death on the cross and his resurrection and ascending to heaven any less real.

Trust me Muslims know he is god. But they always come up with ways to prove he's not.

You go ahead and keep making excuses for Jesus, coz they're gonna keep making excuses for Mohammed and the atheists are gonna keep making excuses for evolution. It goes on and on and on...

God changes form. Loses His mind. Loses His immortality.
Nothing can get worse than this.
If Jesus said he didn't know something, why doubt him?
Making Jesus into God and then coming out with various excuses to explain simple scriptures to mean what they don't say.
For what purpose is the question. To help people with truth or to perpetuate a lie?
